Verne Gagne Comes To His Senses And Keeps Hogan

So we all, or most know, that Gagne didn't believe in making Hogan the face of the AWA, constantly keeping the belt on Nick Bockwinkle, which is why Hogan jumped ship and the rest is history.

But what would have happened if Gagne came to his senses? What if he finally realized what a commodity he had and made Hogan the top dog, giving him the title and giving him a lucrative deal involving merchandising.

What direction would vince have gone? who would he have tagged as "the next big thing?" Piper? Savage?

Would Bob Backlund have lost the title to the Iron Sheik?

Well obviously AWA would still be alive today. But just to note that Hogan during the time he was fueding with Bockwinkle was a face. Bockwinkle was a heel.

The reason he left (which can be seen on the legacy of the AWA DVD) is because he wanted to go to Japan to win the title there as well as win it in the AWA, Gange wanted more money from hogans merchindise. This is why Hogan left and signed with Vince it was all about the money. Gange would not allow Hogan to win the NJPW world title and the AWA title without allowing the AWA to get a bigger cut in his (hogans) merchindise. So that is why Hogan left and went to the WWF.
