US Title Defense

Dark Match Jobber
When was the last time that Dean actually defended this? It's been months if I recall correctly since he has. Then he had battled against Big E on two different occasions, retaining both times. There was also recent talk on WZ about the possibility of merging the US/IC titles at EC, but with the Wyatt's costing the Shield the EC match, we can presume it is a 6 man tag at EC for those guys.

My question to all of you is, does the merge still happen? Does Ambrose cough up the title to Reigns at WM? I ask this cause it looks like there is animosity brewing between their personas. Or my ultimate hope is that it becomes a triple threat match at WM for the merge ... Big E, Reigns, & Ambrose.

What do ya think?

Its been since October last I heard. That would be cool to get a title belt in wwe and somehow they they just forget I had it week in and week out.

I say he loses it to Rollins at Mania if the Shield does not turn face.

Maybe Goldust just because you know.... It would be cool as hell. We all know he cant really win the Big One and all.. But good enough!

No Unification Keep IC title Seperate. Don't see that one changing hands for a while

The last time he defended the title was against Big E on the RAW after Hell In A Cell.

It would make sense for the belt to be merged with the IC since neither belt gets defended consistently but due to the majority of the talent being mid card talent.

I'd just keep them separated, especially since they're trying to push both Big E Langston and I wouldn't be surprised if Reigns ends up facing Rollins and Ambrose for the title at Wrestlemania. It just would be interesting to see how they would do their entrances and would Rollins get lost in the shuffle afterwards

The US and IC belts need to be unified. If WWE wants to have two midcard belts, then it should be one for the upper level guys, and one for the lower ranking guys like R-Truth, Fandango, etc.

It seems like they'll unify the titles soon, they don't use the US. Title at all anymore, Ambrose hasn't defended it in months. Maybe they won't even unify it, the US. Title will slowly disappear into obscurity and nobody will remember it.

Everyone loved the Hardcore Championship? That's some major breaking news. I know a lot of fans, including myself, that thought the Hardcore Championship was a joke. There is typically very little hardcore about Hardcore Titles and the E's version was a front for lazy ass creative plans. In todays E the Hardcore Championship would hit an all time low as there is nothing remotely hardcore about it.

If they decide to merge the IC and US Championships look for it to take place in a multi man ladder match at WM. It gets six to eight guys on the main show and offers the MitB spot monkey type excitment.

The title hasn't been defended in a while which is a real shame. While Ambrose is incredibly talented, the title isn't being defended. We saw one promo where Ambrose suggested he was better than Reigns and Rollins because he had Gold. He could have mentioned that a few more times but I reckon that will be a great way to split them up.

As for the future of the title: I'm guessing it is Ambrose vs Reigns vs Rollins for the belt at WM30. Reigns winning the title would be stupid, it would be a backward move. Ambrose has a lot of talent and has been champ for a while. I reckon he is ready to move. Rollins is a decent choice to be the next US champ. I think it is clear that Ambrose and Reigns are set for pushes but Rollins might not have an obvious next step.

If Rollins wins the title there are some good options for him. Ziggler, Miz, Kofi as well as guys from NXT. Zayn, Kidd, Woods, Neville could be decent options for opponents to put on entertaining matches that are certain make people interested in the belt. He would eventually drop the belt but, in the short-run, Rollins would be a great US champ.

I'm a keep this short and sweet. Its not the us title that's the problem its the guy who's holding it is the problem. Look guys there is no reason to unify the belts all u have to do is take it from dean. He's to wrapped up in the authority angle his character doesn't have time to defend it because he's always in 3 on 1 situations or 3 on 3.

i hope it does NOt merge. the problem with Dean and the US title is that Dean Ambrose and the Shield are now BIGGER than the US title as a unit because of how great they are....also it's the challengers to him which arent much. Kofi can challenge, but Dean should beat him and there are others....my ultimate hope is that the Shield stay together (except Reigns) and that at WM, Reigns goes after the US title while Seth Rollins goes after the IC title and have Rollins win the IC title and have Reigns be the US champion. i am a huge fan of Rollins who reminds me of a young CM Punk. and WWE is high on Reigns and i think WWE needs TWO midcard titles. the roster is too big to just have 3 belts for male wrestlers.

The US title is a complete joke, it has no meaning and is just like the intercontinental, meaningless. I hate the fact that it has come to that, but that's just the way it is. This is something I've always gave Russo credit on, when he was with the WWF he always had the whole card booked with something good. The mid-tier titles meant something thing, now I'm hearing rumors of them combining them? Just terrible.

@ Romer, Russo didn't do squat for the IC title. He simply kept with the tradition that had been there for decades. If anything the fall of the mid card title(s) began during the Attitude Era and that blame can be put on Ruso and McMahon. When they created the LW, HC and EC titles it devalued everything. The ultimate kill shot came in the 2000s with the introduction of the HWC.

The U.S. title lost any importance ever since the brand extension ended. Each show having their own secondary title made sense. Now its just something for someone to wear. Unifying the belts (getting rid of the U.S. belt) will make the Intercontinental title seem more important. Being the I.C. champ will once again means you're the top of "the next tier" right below the main event guys. There is no difference between the IC and US champion now so it muddies the waters and diminishes the value of having a secondary title in the first place.

If it weren't for the history, I'd keep the US and drop IC. But too many have held the IC belt to not have it around. And having gone, what, a year without a US title defense tells you just how important it is.

Maybe use it as a pry between Ambrose and Reigns? Reigns takes it from him, then feuds with Langston to start his singles path? Or keep all three involved?
