Unscripted: Logan McAllister vs. James Howard

Leon Kensworth is running, chasing after a man he doesn’t want to find. As the cameraman jogs backwards through the corridor trying to keep Leon in frame as his colleague’s eyes dash right to left looking for closing doors and any sign of his quarry in the maze of whitewashed breezeblock that is the backstage area.

Eventually Leon spotted a closing door and, breathing like an asthmatic in a smoking room, jammed his foot into the closing door to prevent it from clicking shut. Leon looked at the cameraman through his lens, sighed, nodded, and pushed his way into the room, revealing nothing but bathroom stalls and a set of sinks. Leon turns to face the camera with a panicked expression revealing the ladies sign on the door that in his hurry he had failed to notice.

Breathlessly he sighed. “Looks like I’m going to San Francisco again.”

James Howard’s house was a familiar sight for Leon Kensworth, having travelled there far too many times in the past four and a half years. In that time, he’d seen the place in various states of disrepair and even more states of almost stepford like perfection. Now it was definitely the former; Leon made his way up the driveway, approaching Howard’s front door when it swung open.

“Leon” Howard exclaimed with hand outstretched “How you doing buddy?”

“I’m good” Leon replied sheepishly. “Can I come in?”

“Sure” Howard said as he waved him in. Leading him through to the kitchen breakfast bar. Howard walks around to the other side and leans over, grabbing an apple and taking a bite. “Apple?”

“No, thanks.” Leon let a pause hang in the air “are you okay James?”

“Yep.” Howard replies curtly as he takes another bite of apple. “Why would you think otherwise?” Howard replied between mouthfuls of apple.

“Well, it’s just that you attacked Mikey Stormrage at Gold Rush, you came out on Ascennsion and demanded a title shot and then just a few days ago you attacked Logan McAllister backstage.”

Howard takes a slow bite of his apple before setting it down on the counter and begins talking with his mouth still full. “Mikey was not my target, though good for him being World Champion, he got attacked because of that big shiny gold target over his shoulder.” Howard swallows his bite of apple. “He’s the World Champion and I want the World Championship. He’s a big boy, he can handle himself. The fact that it was my former tag team partner was just icing on the cake.”

“What about McAllister?”

“That jumped up little kid? Bahstan Strahng?” Howard says in an over the top Bostonian accent. “He’s got ideas above his station. He thinks he can just waltz in here tell us some sob story about how much he loves his kid and suddenly become god’s gift to wrestling? He over performed at Gold Rush, everything since has proven that it was a fluke, an aberration. Aside from his punching soiree and his suplex party and his DDT debutante ball Logan has nothing. He’s a punk.” Howard quietly laughs to himself before continuing. “He’s more like me than I’d like to admit.”

“Because he’s a family man?” Leon interjected.

“Well that, I mean honestly he takes pride in being a father which is admirable, I just wish he’d realise that bringing them on tour with him everywhere we go makes them a crutch; it makes me question his actual devotion to his family. Kids aren’t supposed to spend their life on the road, they need consistency, a schedule, they need that stability to thrive. People love the fact that he’s a family man, but in reality he doesn’t put his family first; he puts himself first and uses his fiancée and son like they’re currency trading their lives for a cheap reaction from a crowd that otherwise wouldn’t care if he died in that ring. He’s not a family man Leon. He’s a jerk, he’s borderline abusive to his family dragging them along the road with him and mark my words Leon, once they stop being useful to him; once he stops seeing the benefit of dragging them from city to city and country to country he’ll leave them at a truck stop like a disabled dog whose owners can’t afford to put him down.”

Howard walks to the fridge and grabs a bottle of water as Leon looks on with his mouth hanging open. “What?” Howard asks.

Leon begins to stutter. “N—Nothing, just surprised you have such strong feelings about him.”

“Of course I have strong feelings. I know my time is short in this company and I’m chasing a legacy. I will be a Grand Slam Champion Leon and throwing this pretender in my way is an insult. It’s not even the most insulting thing about this whole charade. Number Thirty in the Lethal Lottery? I want to be the Champion by then. Don’t even get me started on a mid-card title shot, been there done that. The only one that will change our match is four corners and if you leash Logan to me it just means he has nowhere to run. The fact is that he’s not a contender yet Leon and if he thinks he can beat me and prove his worth he’s got another thing coming. The meteoric rise of Logan McAllister started and ended at Gold Rush, now I’m going to Bruce Willis that meteor. All we need is some Aerosmith.”

Backstage after Ascension

Logan McAllister slowly trudged his way back to his locker room, holding his side as he entered the room to find his fiancée Brittany O'Shea in a furious mood.

Brittany: That cheap bastahd! Is that all this washed up losah can do now? Sneak attacks?

Brittany rushes over to her man, wrapping her arms around Logan's waist and directing him to sit down.

Logan: It's all he's got left babe. He's nervous that come Unscripted, his career may end before he evah gets to hold the big gold title that's eluded him his whole careeah. He knows I'm dangerous, that's why he decided to try and soften me up.

Logan gently brushed Brittany back, raising his hand as she tried to continue comforting him, instead hugging her and giving her a long kiss.

Brittany: Seems the only way people around here can accomplish anything. Whethah it's Howahd attacking you backstage, or one of those Vis Imperium scum interfering, nobody seems capable of winning without assistance.

Brittany pauses as Logan stands up, slightly wincing from the still stinging pain coming from his ribs.

Logan: There will be no sneak attacks at Unscripted. Howahd knows his time is running out, like sand in an hourglass...and nobody can help him. And with a chance to enter last in the Lottahry? The sky's the limit for us babe, and all we need to do is leave the United Center with that W.

Brittany wraps her arms around Logan, looking up and staring longingly into the steely blue eyes of the love of her life, and smiles. She wants nothing more than to see him succeed. Logan slightly raises his eyebrow, breaking Brittany from her gaze.

Logan: You okay?

Brittany: Of course Logan. Let's go get some rest before we staht to focus on Unscripted.

Brittany gently caresses Logan's back as they grab their things and head out of the room and towards the parking lot.

Brittany:Maybe if you're lucky, I'll massage you when we get home...hit ya with MY finishah....

Wrigley Field, Days before Unscripted

Hayden: Well it wasn't no Red Sox, but these Cubs are pretty good dad.

Hayden McAllister looked up at his dad with a very "matter of fact" expression on his face. He had all kinds of cinnamon and sugar on his face from the churro he coerced out of his dad on the way out of the stadium. It had been just a guys day, with Brittany out getting herself dolled up(on Logan's dime of course)

Logan: There are othah teams you know? Haha, granted none are evah like the Sawx. Think we should bring Brit home some food?

Hayden finished up his churro, wiping his face with his sleeve before shrugging his shoulders.

Hayden: We could just get a pizza dad, then we can all eat, or at least we'd have breakfast in the morning!

Logan playfully grabbed his boy in a mock headlock, giving him a noogie before releasing him and laughing.

Logan: I like how you think Hayden, wicked good idea.

******

Logan and Hayden were seated at a table, waiting for their pizza to be ready. The aroma that was filling the restaurant was amazing, and both father and son were more than ready to go home and dive into some deep dish.

Logan: So what's your thoughts on your dad's first year in WZCW? Unscripted mahks my one year anniversary in the company... I didn't even know if I'd get a match. They just told me to show up and be prepared.

Logan thinks back to the first time he heard his name called, actually winning the fan vote and getting to debut versus the current champion, Mikey Stormrage. Logan remembers giving Mikey his all before succumbing to the long time vet.

Hayden: Oh I'm proud as heck dad! Since you've been in WZCW, you've been in all kinds of awesome matches! Now the fans cheer for you dad, they hear your music and they get excited for what they know will be an exciting match. I bet by your two year anniversary, you'll have some titles on your record... especially if the fans vote for the title shot! If you can beat that bitter ol Howard, you could get that title as soon as next round even. You know how cool it'd be to call my dad a champion?

Hayden stops as the pizza is ready. Logan pays at the register before the two walk out and towards their hotel, with a hopefully hungry Brittany waiting.

Logan: I'm glad you're proud buddy. I may not have had as much success as I'd like, but the most important thing is that I've gotten to provide for you Hayden. Now I can focus my attention on winning and building my stock so people view me as a threat. I'll prove you right son, I promise you by next Unscripted, you'll have called me champ at least once.

Logan looked down at his son and smiled. His next goal has been decided for him. Win. Win and build his legacy, and ultimately put some gold around his waist. The two walk into the hotel room where Logan sees his fiancée, fresh her spa day...and his jaw almost drops.

Brittany: Well hello my handsome boys! I see you brought pizza, smells delicious.

Brittany takes the box from Hayden and sets it on the counter, giving him a quick hug, followed by embracing and kissing her soon to be husband.

Brittany: By the way, someone from WZCW called, said they have a new shirt design for you after Unscripted.

The trio take the pizza and sit in front of the tv, ready to attack the pizza as a family.

Hours before Unscripted

Stacey Madison was walking the halls of the United Center, irritated that she had to go find Logan, when the wrestlers should be coming to her. She approached the door, quickly fixing her skirt and making sure she's looking perfect as usual. She taps at the door before entering, finding Logan already prepared for his upcoming match later tonight. Much to Stacey's displeasure, Brittany was also present.

Stacey: Excuse me Logan, I was wondering if I could get a quick word with you about your upcoming match against James Howard?

Logan turns toward Stacey and runs his fingers through his hair, as Brittany stands by her man's side.

Logan: Sure Stacey, you know tonight is a big deal for me. It mahks one year in this company. Now I haven't had the most success, and I hear the chattah that my victory at Gold Rush was a fluke...

Logan shakes his head, exhaling deeply before continuing .

Logan:...and you know what? There's not a lot for me to countah with. Every match since then hasn't ended with my arm raised. So I can't blame people for saying my beating Slaughtah was a fluke, assisted by his ring rust.

Stacey looks at Logan, really listening as Logan speaks from the heart, not the usual bravado he usually has in these interviews .

Stacey: So then is tonight the night you show people you're not just a fluke?

Logan: Tonight I face off against James Howahd. He's dangerous, because he can sense there's not much time left for him. You have to really question his decision to step back in the ring Stace. With all those injuries, especially to that neck of his... facing someone like me could be very hazardous to his long term health.

Logan grabs the mic from Stacey and looks directly into the camera

Logan: James, think about what you're doing. You need to think of your family. Your wife, your kid... don't you want to be around, and be cognizant of your surroundings? Because, as a fathah I know I sure would. I won't let that stop me from doing what needs to be done though James. I'll drop you on your head and neck with suplex aftah suplex, and you can stumble back to that beat biddy you call a wife, if you'll even remembah her. You had your time in the spotlight James, and its nobody's fault but your own that you didn't get to the top. But you had your opportunity, and your window has closed. It's MY time now, and tonight you'll get to witness first hand what the Son of Boston can do.

Stacey meekishly reaches for the microphone, staring at this determined man in front of her, Brittany silent, but smiling ear to ear.

Stacey: Strong words Logan, any thoughts on the stipulations for the match?

Logan:
The stips are nice Stacey. I could entah last at the Lottahry, or I could even get a shot at a title next round. I hope for James's sake the fans don't pick the four corners match... because it will be his last match if so. I'll battah that broken body before dragging him from turnbuckle to turnbuckle. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some final preparations to take care of. Take care Stacey.

Logan and Brittany turn from Stacey and begin to to talk among themselves as Stacey turns to leave. Logan is determined to show everyone that Gold Rush was no fluke, and that he is a big time player here in WZCW....if that means he had to end Howard's career to do so, well then better Howard than him.
