Meltdown 131
An old truck is parked outside the arena at a backdoor. The lights are off but smoke from the exhaust indicate that the truck is running. A closer look inside the dirty brown truck shows an old man, Coach Adams, sitting there, staring at the door as if to be waiting for someone. Suddenly, Luke Manson bursts through the door and hops in the passenger side. Coach puts the truck into drive and the tires squeel as he takes off into the night.
After they are about a mile or so down the road, Coach glances over at Luke. Luke is panting heavily but has a half smile on his face.
Coach Adams: Did you take my advice?
Luke: Yeah, hopefully Gino will not be at Unscripted. I hit him pretty hard with a chair.
Coach: Good. Let us hope that this will even the odds for the fight ahead.
Luke nods his head and then stares out his window, watching the buildings and other vehicles go by. While he normally doesn't want to be violent outside the ring, he didn't think he had another choice. With Gino at ringside, he would need to have eyes in the back of his head to watch out for him.
A few days go by and Luke has been training his ass off. Right now though, it was time for a little R&R. He is sitting down on the couch at the home of Coach Adams, with his feet propped up on an ottoman. Coach said that they needed to keep training so they are watching some old matches from back in the Coaches wrestling days. The Coach is sitting on the edge his seat, remembering the good ol' days.
Coach glances back at Luke after the match is over and Coach was declared the winner. He sees a troubled look on Luke's face.
Coach: You alright son?
Luke: Yeah. I'm good.
Coach can tell that Luke is lying. Frustrated, Coach grabs the television remote next to him and tosses it at Luke's head, knocking him in the forehead. Luke lets out a groan and grabs his head.
Coach: I don't like liars boy. Now, tell me what the hell is wrong with you.
Luke shakes his head and grumbles.
Luke: I'm just nervous about Unscripted.
Coach: You should be. This is more than just a match, you are fighting for your chance to get the Mancini family off your back.
Luke: Steet fight or Lumberjack. Seems like the deck is stacked against me.
Luke sits up and runs his hands through his hair.
Coach: It is. Both of these match types seem to favor Tony.
Luke: The bastard must have paid off the management.
Coach: Doesn't matter though.
Luke begins to ponder to himself. Coach is right on how both these match types unfavored him but do they have to be? Growing up, Luke was in plenty of fights and with Gino out of the picture, then he might have a decent chance in winning. Street fight seems to be his best option. But it's the fans that vote and determine what match it will be.
Luke: Coach, you're right. But I think a street fight is more in my favor. Tony Mancini
caught me off guard but that kid doesn't know who the hell he messed with.
Coach nods his head and laughs at Luke.
Coach: You read my mind. Let's convince the fans that they want a street fight. Let's go, I have an idea.
Four days come and go. Coach managed to get Luke an exclusive interview that will air on WZCW.com. Luke is sitting on a stage next to Coach and across from them, sits WZCW Interviewer, Leon Kensworth. He sees fans fill the seats in front of the stage. Luke begins to get nervous. He has wrestled in front of thousands of fans before but he never spoke in front of them.
Luke: Coach, I didn't think so many people would be seeing this.
Coach: Well, how else would we get people to vote for a Street fight. We need them hear and you need to convince them that the match will be the most brutal that they have ever seen.
Luke takes a deep breath and slowly nods his head, trying to calm his nerves. The cameraman signals to Leon that they are about to air. Leon tells them that it's time. The Cameraman counts on his hand from five to 1, then points to Leon. Leon knows that's his cue to start the show.
Leon: Ladies and Gentleman, we are on the countdown to the most unpredicted pay-per-view of the year, Unscripted! We have quite a stacked card this year and many matches that we have been dying to see! One of those matches has gotten quite personal between the two, and I have one of the participants here with me now with his trainer, Coach Adams, please give a warm welcome to Luke "The Man" Manson!
The crowd erupts with applause. Luke's nerves begin to calm down as he realizes that the fans are here to see him. He stands up and begins to waive at the audience. Leon and Coach both smile as they watch Luke walk up to the fans and high five them. He waves his arms up and down to try to get them to be louder. It works as the crowd begins to chant his name now. He begins to calm down and walks back to his chair and sits.
Leon: Thanks for joining me guys. Luke, the crowd loves you here!
Luke: And I love them!
He points to the audience again.
Luke: These guys. The people are why I enjoy doing what I do. They are the heart and soul of WZCW and deserve the best that we have to offer.
The audience erupts again. Luke claps his hands. His nerves are completly gone now.
Leon: I have to admit, we do have the greatest fans here. Luke, we will get to unscripted in a bit, but first, I have to know...how does it feel to have a legend in the business training you? Not every man can see they have that.
Luke: I owe everything I am today to Coach. When no one would give me work, he was there. When I decided to join WZCW, he was there. Now, here he is with me at Unscripted.
Coach nods his head up and down, agreeing with what Luke has just said.
Leon: You guys seem to have quite the bond. So Luke, let's talk a little bit about this past week on Meltdown. You attacked Gino backstage. What were your motives behind that?
Luke: The stiplations. A Lumberjack match where if one of us exit the ring, the outside Lumberjacks will throw us back in. In order to keep the match fair, the less of the Mancini family out there, the better for me. A Street fight is the other stipulation. With Gino at ringside, I woud have to watch him and Tony. Hell, it could even be a handicap match. With him out of the way, I actually have a chance to win.
Leon:Speaking of the stipulations, which would you prefer?
Luke: I have been waiting for this question to be honest.
He glances over to Coach Adams. Coach doesn't say anything but instead, he uses his head to motion to Luke to head towards the crowd. Luke stands up and walks over to the front of the stage, facing the audience.
Luke: Folks, I stand here in front of you today to ask what you want to see at Unscripted.
Do you want to see Tony and myself wrestle in a lumberjack match, where we don't have any information about who will be the lumberjacks or do you want to see two men who litteraly cannot stand eachother fight? I vow that if you pick a street fight, that I will not lose but more importantly, I will give you all the show you deserve.
The crowd erupts and starts to chant "Street Fight" over and over. Luke chuckles softly, then throws his arms up, embracing the crowd!
Luke puts his arms down, then glances back to Coach and nods his head. Coach gets up and walks off stage. The crowd watches then cheers again when Coach appears back on stage, holding a trash can full of various of weapons. He walks over and sets the trashcan next to Luke. Luke extends his hand, but Coach shakes his head and instead, holds out his arms. Luke nods and the two embrace in a hug.
Breaking the hug, Luke grabs a baseball bat wrapped in barbedwire out of the trashcan and holds it in the air.
Luke: I guarantee that this match will steal the show. Vote for the Street fight!
Luke Manson and Coach Adams then walk off the stage. They can still hear the crowd behind them going wild, chanting their names.
Tony wants a fight? That young punk doens't know what's about to hit him.
