UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida Prediction Contest... Now with simpler scoring!

Turd Ferguson

DA-DA Da Da Da Bah Da Da DADADA
This is the prediction contest for UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida! DO NOT post your picks in this thread. PM your picks to me whenever you are ready. You must have your predictions in by 7:00 EST Saturday Night.

When you make your picks, you have to pick whoever you think will win, the method of victory (strikes, sub hold or decision), and the round (or decision). Regular fights are 3 rounds. Championship fights are 5 rounds. There are no title fights on this card.

The correct pick earns you two points, with the correct method of victory and round earning you one point a piece. Confidence points are no longer part of the criteria.

Here are two examples of correct predictions:

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Luiz Cane
Winner: Nogueira
Method of Victory: Strikes
Round: 1

A correct prediction here would net 4 points.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Keith Jardine
Winner: Rampage
Method of Victory: Decision

A correct prediction here would net 4 points. If you predict a decision, that is how you should go about predicting it. In the case of a decision, you must predict that correctly to earn all points.

I will be sending my picks to JMT225 so that there is no suspicion of cheating.

Boxer38 will be putting his title on the line against GuyCompton and JMT225. I fully expect to finish a distant third.

Use the provided link to pick fights. You will be predicting 9 fights.

Alright, so I'm going to make a change here, starting with this card.

I'm doing away with the confidence points system. Participation has been low lately. From now on, each correct pick will earn you two points, with the method of victory being one point a piece still.

Edit: I didn't read that you were supposed to PM the stuff to you. To avoid being infracted. I believe that you should add Fight of the Night to the prediction picks.

I agree actually, adding a Fight of the Night bonus prediction that's worth something like 2-3 points could work pretty well now that the confidence points are done and gone with.

First off, I'm sorry for the delay in getting results in. Work kicked my ass this week and we had the holiday as well.

Anyway, the turnout for this card was awesome and the biggest we've had in awhile. Thanks to everyone for participating. I think the new scoring system is something we're going to keep, but for now on, we'll be predicting complete cards.

For #1 Contendership...

Uncle Phatso - 15
Wolfdemon - 11
Buffalo Dave/Dressler - 8
IndyJon - 6
Fizzy - 2

Uncle Phatso literally comes out of nowhere to become #1 Contender.

For the Championship:

GuyCompton - 16
Boxer38 - 8
JMT225 - 6

I will be defending the title against Uncle Phatso for the TUF Finale/Strikeforce cards. I'll get the prediction contest up at the conclusion of TUF Wednesday night.

Holy shit, the Georges St. Pierre of the prediction contest has been defeated, nice work Guy, one hell of a run by Boxer38, that's for sure. Congrats to Uncle Phatso for pulling the SuperHans and getting a title shot after his first prediction contest!!
