True Wrestling Fan?? Shut the Hell up.

You've probably heard this once, you've heard it a million times. You go on any wrestling video, particularly a WWE video, old or new, you will see someone talking about how, "OMG The PG era sux!! Fuck SuperCena! Bring back blood, tits, etc." "Remember when it was about wrestling??"(which has to be the biggest contradiction ever). It's kind of sad. However, the thing that gets me the most is, "I'm sick of these stupid kids who think Cena's the best. It's because they're not true wrestling fans!!"

Bullshit...

These people claim that kids "hop on Cena's dick." The same can be said about these jerks when they were younger and they hopped on the dicks of Hogan, Rock, Austin, or whoever. Are kids to blame for the decrese in vulgarity? To a certain extent perhaps, but that's no reason to curse them for watching the product, having fun, and cheering who they like. People who claim to be "true wrestling fans" are a constellation of hot headed pricks who keep living in the past and refuse to grow up. People need to become cognizant of the fact: the Attitude Era isn't coming back. I'm no Cena fan by any means, but I'm not gonna condemn him or blame him for the show's current state. I don't watch WWE or TNA for blood, gore, or naked women who 6/10 times aren't even that attractive like Kelly Kelly. I watch a wrestling show for, you guessed it: Wrestling.

In short, "true wrestling fans" need to get over themselves. Kids aren't sucking the fun out of the product(I would love to think it was all real again). They are.

Buying into these "True Wrestling Fan" claims is ridiculous I'm glad someone has said it.

I've been watching Pro Wrestling my entire life, literally, including when I was a baby and not even consciously aware that it was on...

..Even so, the last thing I'd call myself is a "True" wrestling fan. A wrestling fan sure, but there is no one who has supreme enough authority to decide what a true fan is, not Vince McMahon, not Jim Ross, not Hogan, not Flair, not anyone.

So when some little behind the keyboard jerk decides it's him who knows the business well enough to make those kind of decisions it just makes me sick, it makes me want get a hold of their IP and do a giant metaphoric pee down their internet line.

If a older fan bashes the kids for actually be invested in a wrestling company than that's pathetic.

God forbid they actually like professional wrestling, and not complain, whine, bitch, and bitch some more after every single show. The kids are the one's who watch it for fun, and to have fun, and root for their favorite stars, older fans rip and bitch about every little thing that doesn't go with their wants and needs.

Not to add that the older fans were once kids before, and how would they feel to be bashed and made fun of.

Because kids do not deserve to be bashed for liking a television show. It's like a 18 year old making fun of a 7 year old for liking Barney, or Spongebob.

At the end of the day, Not a lot of us can argue with that. We can sit here and analyze and complain about times gone by, but there have been so many times I told my girlfriend, "Why don't we just watch RAW tonight and not predict how it's gonna happen?" No one is taking the fun out of pro wrestling except for those of us who can't just watch wrestling TV. If you aren't having fun, then watch something else. Well said, Deth

I like the term "true wrestling fan". Whenever I see someone use it in an argument, it's a signal to me that the post is a big, fat, hanging softball and I knock the fucker out of the park. It means they aren't going to be able to think quick enough to counter my arguments, since they obviously couldn't think about the connection between what "true wrestling" is and what they prefer to watch as a fan. It means someone with an unduly inflated ego, who seeks to use the term "true wrestling fan" to elevate himself above the other people here (presumably, fake wrestling fans.)

It means I get like thirty, forty rep for people laughing their ass off when I tear that poster a new one for his poorly formed argument. So... yeah, the term's freakin' awesome.

"I'm a true wrestling fan" I love when I hear or read that.

"Real wrestling isn't PG" Another reason why A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste.

"Wrestlers aren't supposed to act like super heroes" that comes from people like you and me who at one time believed in Santa Clause.

"Real wrestling doesn't have 5 moves of doom" Not everyone wants to sit and watch 5000 moves end this shit already the match is going on 90 minutes.

"This is wrestling" Yeah 20 springboard planjas is wrestling.

These are just some of the responses you will hear or read from the so called "Real Wrestling Fan" who will tell you if you don't agree with anything they say and have a rebuttal your a "Fake Wrestling Fan".

Well then I'm a Fake Wrestling Fan and proud of it.

Basically this. It's not just wrestling though, elitist fucktards exist in all walks of life, and they are, without exception, all full of shit. Behaviour of this sort is certainly most common in the sort of insecure dick who has to constantly belittle those around them in a vain effort to increase their own sense of self-worth. Yeah, it's pretty fucking pathetic.

I'd consider myself a true wrestling fan. However, I'm not the kind of person that's gonna shove it down anyone's throat or try to claim that I know better than everyone else (except perhaps a damned lot of people you'd meet on youtube). As a matter of fact, until Money and the Bank, I was pretty much convinced I was the only sane wrestling fan out there that could call themselves a 'true fan'.

Difference being, that I have no friends I'm in frequent contact anymore that are fans of wrestling, so if I'm going to have an intelligant conversation about wrestling with anyone, it's gonna have to be online. Well at first, when I went to youtube. I figured people watching the videos would be "true" fans, and it'd be ok to have fun and chat about whatever video was posted.

Turns out that was a naive belief I held. Youtube commenters are the worst I've ever seen, and until Money in the Bank, the only wrestling fans I've had contact with since I got married and moved away from all my friends.

Then I found this place, and I've found that believe it or not, there are other guys that I would consider true fans of wrestling. The people here are a lot less likely to s**t all over everything (unless you talk about some change you would have liked to have seen to some popular stable, etc., in which case it's just as bad here as youtube), and a lot more likely to find people that actually know WTF they're talking about and make discussing wrestling fun, like it should be.

So yeah, I consider myself a true fan, but then I'd consider the op a true fan as well. I guess it just depends on how you define the term "true fan."

You know back when I was about 17 or so, the attitude era was in full-swing, WCW hadn't quite started it's nose dive and was still badass, and I looked at all the new fans, especially those WWF fans in much the same way people today treat fans that are fans of John Cena et all. "All the REAL wrestling legends work for WCW now," "WWF fans these days are not the real fans", "Stone Cold is a redneck punk" "Undertaker is an EMO *** now wearing purple and a stupid tear drop under his eye", "Shawn Micheals poses for gay porn", "Goldberg would destroy Austin."

And then I grew up, got over my bias, and ate a bit (or a lot) of humble pie as WCW turned to s**t, and The Rock & Angle forced me to admit that the WWF was once again, definitely better than WCW.

Sooner or later, I keep hoping the attitude era fans will do the same thing I had to do when I was their age and get over themselves and grow up. Fact is, the attitude era had a lot of good in it that I biasedly turned a blind eye too because I didn't want to admit that anything could be better than Hogan, Savage, Flair, & Sting all working in the same company together along with all the other big name guys I grew up loving.

Likewise, there's a lot of good the PG-Era and especially this new reality era have to offer, and anyone that can't see that needs to do the same kind of growing up I had to do about 12 years ago, and if they can't do that, then I have a hard time giving them any respect as a fan of wrestling.

If you watch and follow wrestling, you are a true wrestling fan. Doesn't matter what age. Doesn't matter what gender. Doesn't matter what race or nationality. Doesn't matter what company you like, or which stars you like. If you care about wrestling, you are a fan. And no one should be telling anyone else that they're not a proper fan. No one is better than anyone else, and everyone has different tastes.
