Trent Barretta Thoughts

Pre-Show Stalwart
Okay so I'm a little surprised no one brought him up in a thread yet. I've been watching his work with Curt Hawkins on Superstars and not gonna lie they put on some fun matches. Only thing missing was a story. Then I watch Smackdown and see him put on an okay match with Mcintyre and I wanted your opinions on this guy? Love him, Hate him, is he okay?

I personally think he was better off we Caylen Croft in the Dudebusters they were like a poor mans version of Edge and Christian. I think as a singles competitor he will float around on the undercard and get put in some random tag team. I do however think he has some upside as the matches I've seen were fun and entertaining. Your thoughts?

He is funny on the mic and he is amazing in the ring. In fact he is very good in the ring. You know what that means.....in two months he will be released.

Trent Barretta is actually one of my favourite superstars in the entire WWE. While, he may not be the most talented wrestler on the roster, there is something that I really like about him.

In the ring, I find him very entertaining and can put on a really good match, as shown with his Superstars match against Curt Hawkins. It's a shame that these two didn't get to put on a lengthily match on Smackdown but I digress. I haven’t heard much of him on the mic but when I have, he seems competent and probably better than about 50% of the roster. I think the one thing that lets him down is his size or lack of it, he’s a pretty small dude in a company where muscle heads reign supreme but with the influx of superstars whom aren’t huge such as Rey Mysterio, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, The Miz, John Morrison and many others, I see no reason why he couldn’t have a good career. I think he has all the tools to be a great mid carder and possibly get a world title shot but in the real world, I doubt that will ever happen, and it’s a shame. Oh well, but as of right now I’m a big fan of Trent Barretta and hope WWE has big things go for him in 2011.

The young man Barretta actually is a talented wrestler. Infact, I am a huge fan of his and think as a singles performer he could become a poor version of the likes of Evan Bourne. They both have great reaction from the crowd, high flyers willing to do anything to win. As a tag team performer, he is a poor mans version of Edge and Christian as you said.

He is also one of my favorites. He is loaded with potential and I see him as a younger version of Edge. Look at the matches he has put on and he never gets promo time anymore but everytime I have seen him he did a fantastic job with Croft on the mic. I thought the Dudebusters were really good and I wanted to see them as tag champs however if Barreta continues putting on good matches then WWE will notice it more and he will turn into a solid mid carder and hopefully even more later on down the road.

I have been singing his praises for months, and with good reason. Some may call me crazy, but he reminds of a (very) young and (very) green Bret Hart, with a little Shawn Michaels in him as well.

He's really athletic (HBK), and has a sound technical game (Hitman) as well. If there any guy out there, in the business, I would compare him to, it would probably be A.J. Styles. This kid can fly, grapple, and sell his ass off. He makes everyone he wrestles look like a million bucks, and still gets himself over in the process.

He probably needs to add about 10-20 pounds of muscle, but I think this kid has a really bright future. With that being said, I'm not so sure what Vince thinks of him. Vince seems to be more concerned with less talented guys like Big Zeke and/or Drew McIntyre to actually give Trent a fair shot. If this kid increases his weight, and is given a proper chance, I think he's a future World Champion. He's that good in the ring.

Im a HUGE Trent Barretta fan I've seen most of his matches on Superstars and they were all pretty good especially the three matches he had with Curt Hawkins which were Fantastic. Barretta is really talented in the ring, he's pretty athletic and can do high flying moves but he is also could at technical wrestling. I would Love to see him get a push and be used on Smackdown but I think he'll just be stuck on Superstars which sucks because he is really talented.

Now let's be fair, a lot of those releases the guys asked for them.

In my opinion, I love the guy. His matches are awesome, his goofiness is addicting, and my jaw drops whenever he dives over the ropes. He and Reks are probably my two favorite up and coming stars at the moment.

I've only seen him a couple of times so I can't give an in depth take on him, however the one thing that caught my eye is he is a good bumper, so at the very least he may get to be a bump guy for the mid card guys.

I like this guy. He has a natural personality, he's got some charisma and I know that the guy can work inside the ring. If you've watched Superstars over the course of much of the past year, the latter is at least very obvious.

Even though Barretta got his ass handed to him against Drew McIntyre on SD! a few weeks back, he still looked pretty good against McIntyre for the most part. I think that they could do something with this guy and teaming him with Curt Hawkins seems like a good idea in my view. I like both of those guys and I'd hate to see them squandered on Superstars for another year or so before eventually getting future endeavoured.

WWE has faith in him as well. For alot of their current videogame commercial, the jobber getting done in by finishers was often him. I also like the guy, but without his partner to play off of, he kind of needs a gimmick revamp or he will flounder like Hawkins and Ryder did at first.

i think he has alot of talent, i liked him in the dudebusters but i think he could do good as a singles competitor. WWE needs to give him a push as well for Zack Ryder, Justin Gabriel etc. WWE needs to use there talent, Trent can accomplish alot WWE needs to notice that. the storyline with him and Drew is kinda confusing i don't think WWE knows what they are doing lol :) but i think he is a really good wrestler overall :D

Okay after watching Smackdown it would not surprise me one bit if Trent turns heel and Drew turns face. Did anyone notice the smirk on Trents face when Kelly came to his aide?

I actually really like Trent Barretta. I think he fun, entertaing, and not bad in the ring. That being said, Trent has a definate size problem. I know the WWE has been pushing smaller guys recently with Daniel Bryan holding the US title, the Miz holding the WWE Championship, and Rey Mysterio holding the World Title some months past, but I really don't see Vince greenlighting a push beyond midcarder. It was an absolute mistake when they split up the Dudebusters. With the tag division in the current state its in, the dudebusters should have been given tv time to get over and actually do something instead of losing singles matches on superstars.

Still, it nice to see that he is now off of Superstars and actually on Smackdown. Maybe now that more people can see him wrestle, Trent can biuld up a strong fan base.

I think you can group Baretta and Hawkins together, Ryder too. All three are decent on the Mic and far above average in the ring. However, given their size and their lack of a defined look (possibly Ryder aside), I can't really see any of them doing anything in WWE other than floating around the lower mid card while guys nowhere near as talented as they are get a push.

The only way I can really see any of the three of them getting on in WWE is to form (or re-form in Hawkins/Ryders case) a tag team. Make it a three man stable, two in a tag team one as an enforcer, or an alternating tag team. It gives three talented young superstars some direction and adds a bit more depth to the tag division. It makes sense on a number of levels. So it obviously won't happen.

I'm liking Barretta on Smackdown at the moment and this program he's currently having with McIntyre might just show the higher powers in the WWE that he is a legit superstar ready for a possible push into the mid card...he's fun on the mic and he's great to watch in the ring. I think he's just paying his dues at the moment and being used as McIntyre fodder to get his career back on track...I hope we see him in the rumble and i hope he gets put into an angle where he will definitely be able to come out on top and get pushed into smackdown's mid card. This was one of the major advantages of having the branded pay per views...if this angle had been done the month leading up to the old No Way Out slot, McIntyre and Barretta would have been given the chance to shine on Pay Per View.
