If TNA (Impact Wrestling) went head-to-head with Smackdown on friday nights, which show would you be more interested in watching and give first priority too?
For me, the answer is TNA.
After the draft, I had a lot of hope in Smackdown knowing that Ted Dibiase, Sheamus, Sin Cara, Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, Justin Gabriel and Alex Riley were going to be on the show and I felt like I could live with Orton because he doesn't hog as much air time/storyline as Cena.
But it turned out that Riley never made the transition to SD as he is still a member of RAW, so there went one of my prospects.
Another prospect that went to SD but bombed was Sin Cara. The guy had a lot of hype coming into the WWE, but it seems now like it was a lot of hot air as WWE is worlds apart from where he made his claim to fame.
As for the rest, I'm just not drawn in enough. Bryan wasn't doing anything special till he won the briefcase and has now lost too Del Rio and Barrett recently, Sheamus was playing third wheel to Orton/Christian before his feud with Mark Henry and his feud with Henry isn't must see tv for me. And Dibiase is still playing his Legacy role and has yet to break out as the baby face he should be.
And Orton is letting Christian ride shot gun and hold the title for the past however months, a feud I really just don't care about. They put on good matches where Christian takes about 1000% more damage then Orton does, but I have no investment in either of them. Never have, never will.
In TNA, the only real thing that bothers me is the Knockouts amount of air time, Mexican America, and Pope/Devon(dead fucking weight) angle. As absurd as people think the storylines are, they're still storylines. When I watch wrestling I don't need it to be 100% logical, because then your asking too much from wrestling. It's not meant to be logical. Sometimes things might be really stupid, but I've seen plenty of that in wrestling. They have enough good storylines and wrestlers that it makes the show as a whole worth while for me and you don't find yourself saying "that was the same exact show as last week."
Not to mention, TNA has LEGENDS! Actual living, breathing Legends. I might not be so high on the young guys, but I'll never complain about the guys who've proven themselves in the past and continue to do so today.
Another thing TNA has yet to do, that WWE already has, is PEAK. This topic is about TNA vs Smackdown, but this goes for WWE in general. WWE has already peaked - I've seen the best WWE/Smackdown has to offer and WWE is not willing to go that far again, at least in the near future. It's still unclear where TNA can go though and they are looking to do better where as a show like Smackdown is hoping to keep the status quo.
So yeah, if TNA moved to fridays I'd be watching TNA instead of Smackdown. Don't even really watch Smackdown on the internet or anything, but I try to keep up with it in case something new and exciting does come up. Heh, I just decided to type this instead of watch the 20 man battle royal so that tells you how interested I am in it. Not a knock against it, just for whatever reason, it's not grabbing my attention.
TNA doesn't always grab my attention either, but it does so for the most part.
