TNA Throwback Style Booking

shattered dreams

Hexagonal Hedonist
AJ Styles is taking on role as more of a face and is at the front of a story. I will not be surprised if he wins the WHC soon. Beer Money is getting pushed and Roode is being showcased. Hernandez and Daniels are back. The X-division booking is seemingly returning more towards X-style. Long story short, TNA is doing many of the things people have been whining for them to do or throwbacks towards what TNA was.

Are you a fan of this new fusion of the previous and the new? If you were a whiner are you going to stop now or is it just time to move on to the next stupid thing to complain about (*cough 6 sides *cough)? Will TNA ever be able to please the indy fans and the mainstream fans at the same time?

I am certainly interested to see where TNA go with this. I would definitely like to see them continue to focus on Styles and Beer Money, and I am always glad to see Daniels perform so thats another good thing.

I also hope that TNA do keep working on getting the X-Division back to its glory days, that was always one of their crown jewels which has been sadly ignored in recent years. I am not too bothered about the 6-sided ring, it is just a ring after all and although it was something unique for TNA, I don't mind them keeping using the regular style ring.

There will always be things for people to moan about, be it indie fans or mainstream fans, that will never change. WWE have the same problem trying to appease fans from different eras who want to see different things, so no I do not see TNA ever managing to please everyone. It is impossible.

No, because you know damn well as I do that indy fans are never pleased.

There is no collective voice for them as there is for mainstream fans, so no matter what story is happening, no matter what logic is being used and no matter how intense a feud, there will always be [at least] one fat, lonely asshole with thick glasses and a terrible haircut sitting in his mother's basement, unemployed, gorging himself on junk food and soda complaining about some irrelevant aspect of a feud or a debut or a story-line citing that so-and-so could have worked the angle better, or that this-and-that would have been a better path to take—especially on their YouTube channels.

Mainstream fans follow the flow of things — they boo heels and cheer faces and have no desire to interject a promo on national television with a kayfabe-breaking shout as a means to get themselves on television and make a few of their idiotic fans around them giggle. Pleasing them is simple. Not so much with the former.

These posts are always a treat.

Things happened! Events aren't exactly the same as they were a couple months ago! "Many of the things people have been whining for them to do"? Who are these "people"? Where did they say these "things"? This sounds like another one of your strawman arguments; you have your pro-TNA position, you tell everyone else what the position of your opponents is, and then you attack that position, without ever actually having to listen to viewpoints which disagree with your own.

TNA isn't "changing" or "throwing back". The one positive development I've seen is that Hulk + Eric aren't the sun at the center of the TNA universe anymore, and thank you Jesus, Buddha, Allah, Yahweh, and every other God in existence for that. Beyond that, you still have the same style; spastic, storyline driven, conspiracy-style booking about corporate intrigue. The card is still extremely top heavy, and having AJ Styles take Anderson's place in the main event picture doesn't change that.

They aren't fusing "the old and the new"; that's all you, trying to tell people what they're watching and interpret it for them.

Ah, I love this. You can't post a single thread without taking potshots at anyone who doesn't like TNA, and they're all worded with the same formula- "Anyone who disagrees with me is clearly ignorant about the product and whines for the sake of whining." As much as you're trying to spin regularly occurring storyline development as a serious internal reorganization that proves anyone who still doesn't like TNA is just completely unreasonable, there are still a few people left on these boards who can watch a program and interpret it for themselves, without needing you to tell them how it went down and how they should support it now.

I do not think that TNA should even try to please the indy fans. Like IDR has already stated it is something that is too hard to do because nothing that you do is good enough for them. Frankly unlike the majority of the crowd I am not too excited with AJ Styles and the rest of Fortune turning on Immortal.

Firstly, it creates a huge face/ heel imbalance. Currently there are four guys chasing Jeff Hardy's title namely Anderson, Styles, Morgan and RVD. The rest of the Immortal faction are involved in storylines of their own and are not helping Jeff much. Having more heels than faces would have made more sense.

Secondly, how long will Anderson be able to sustain himself at the main event with this sudden push of AJ Styles. Is he going to end up like Matt Morgan? I surely hope not because I might be one of the few guys who likes Anderson over Styles. That is because Anderson can entertain me on the mic like very few can in WWE or TNA.

I think that the best procedure to adopt would be to have Fortune lose the feud against Immortal and let Immortal establish themselves even more.

I think rattlesnake indirectly points to the problem that IDR sums up nicely. After the Immortal reveal the prevailing "wisdom" was that one of the big problems was that there were too many heels. Many wondered why fortune was with them and not as opposing faces. Fast forward to when they turn AJ and Fortune (rayne, if you log on here and can actually read then I have no idea how you think I am making up that being desired by many), now people are saying that doesn't work because there are too many faces and not enough heels. It is clearly a lot harder to please these audiences of one that constantly change their mind anyway and it is somewhat pointless to begin with because they are likely to watch the product regardless. This is why I wonder how the longer term effect of these changes may play out if they were to "throwback" too far.

how did Matt Morgan end up? it's not like he's fallen down to the bottom. Anderson won't either. is Morgan getting a title shot right now? no, but he will soon enough. Anderson might not get the next title shot, but he too will again soon.
Styles should have never been heel to begin with, now he is back to being face where he belongs.
could be good for TNA to get more into the X division. I think it worked out best that the Buck's couldn't make it to the PPV, they should never have been in that match anyway. guys like Suicide(Daniels), Lethal, Amazing Red should be in there before a tag team.

As long as you have those dirtball losers called The IWC on here, you will aways be seeing those people whine, bitch, and complain about TNA. These fat, live in parents basement, knobs think that they are all creative geniuses, and have the perfect booking, yet will never go out and try to put it to use and make thier own wrestling promotion. And for those constant complainers on TNA. Why do you keep coming back? Who's making you watch Impact, and buying PPV's each month? If you don't care for the product, don't watch. Simple as that. I can't stand WWE, and haven't watched a RAW in like 3 years. The only WWE news I get is the ads on USA.

Now, as far as old school TNA booking goes. That I remember was more wrestling orientated, than story driven. If you can combine that with some of the storylines they've tried the past year, it could be pretty interesting.

This is something that should of been done when Hogan and Bischoff arrived. Merge the new talent in with the talent TNA already had. Instead of... Pushing all of current TNA talent before the 4th jan 2010 in favour of all the new talent they brought in. Really the past year of TNA has ended up being a waste of time as finally AJ/BMI/Kaz are doing what should of been done in the first place, fight back against Bischoff.

TNA needs to stick with their current face/heel alignments for a while. I'm so sick of people switching sides so often. In the past year more then half the roster has gone from face to heel and visa versa and not only that quite a few that turned ended up turning back. Whats even worse they've been doing out of the blue face and heel turns constantly for years. TNA stop changing peoples sides so fast its annoying.

First things first I rarely watch Impact but I do try to watch their PPV's.
Based on what I've seen TNA has some impeccable talent and yet the bookers don't have a clue how to book a decent storyline without making it look cheap. The Jarrett/Angle storyline is major example of this, they try and make Jarrett look like a legit MMA guy as an MMA fan and trains in BJJ, Muay Thai and Greco I'm not only insulted that TNA would book such a storyline yet add bullshit to the storyline (Angle walking Karen to the ring when they renew their vows) come on give me a break.

I totally Understand why Nash went back to WWE over TNA, TNA needs to cut the belts back to the Knockouts, X-Division, Tag & World, and get some structure to their shows, maybe cut back on PPV's to Bi-Monthly as well, they don't have enough TV time to really do competitive monthly PPV's without them looking shabby.

I honestly thought TNA's introduction of the former ECW guys could of worked magically, however TNA managed to hash that storyline up thou I believe for such a storyline you need Hayman involved but TNA couldn't acquire his services (which isn't surprising).

Bring back guys from the past is cool, if they're the guys who were wrestling in TNA back in 2002-2005 when it was in the fairgrounds in Nashville, but as far as storylines, PPV names and group names actually TNA lacks big time, Fortune, Immortal? they sound corny, TNA started off big and expected to expand and it didn't as they thought, but they should go back to basics and build themselves up, more wrestling less 2011 attitude era and go back to basic championships, if they need to do Hardcore matches then bring a championship in for that match specifically, but TNA has the guys who can put some wrestling clinics yet something in the back isn't clicking.
