TNA signs British wrestler, "Vigilante" Johnny Moss

Dizzy

Championship Contender
Jeff Jarrett appeared on "Hawksby and Jacobs" on Talksport in the UK on Monday. Dot Net reader Danny Jones passed along the following report.

Jarrett was introduced as "a former top wrestler." He quickly corrected the host. He was on to promote TNAs search for European talent. He advised listeners to visit the TNA website as they are looking to audition 25 people in January and the winner would be added to the roster.

Jarrett spoke highly of the British Invasion and a Brit by the name of Johnny Moss, who they have just signed. He came across very well and tipped the Steelers to win the Super Bowl.

Career Highlights: Reaching the Final of the first ever British National Championship tournament; Capturing the All-England Title

One of the top stars in British wrestling today, "Vigilante" Johnny Moss made a name for himself at NWA Hammerlock and has wrestled across the world. With a first degree black grade in IBF shoot-style wrestling and expertise in Thai boxing, Moss is a dangerous man who will demolish any wrestler who is not up to standard. Like many Hammerlock products he is a submission expert but is also known for his mastery of suplexes, especially his trademark German suplex.

The Vigilante's greatest success in IPW:UK came in 2008 as he ploughed through the competition to reach the final of the British National Championship. On the way he put on a wrestling clinic with Doug Williams and ended the year-long reign of Sam Slam as All England Champion. A month later Moss dropped that belt by losing to Terry Frazier, just one victory away from winning the tournament and further cementing his place in British wrestling lore. Moss will undoubtedly be looking to avenge that loss by taking out his aggression on anyone he wrestles in 2009.

So, Tommy Mercer and now Johnny Moss. TNA is really rebuilding with a new crop of talent. They even found their own style of NXT/Tough Enough as well.

this seems really good for them...in a way...they need to release a bunch of guys (sharkboy is one i can think of) becaue the roster is over crowded now, these guys seem really legit especially tommy mercer, alon with this guy TNA seems tto be strating " making home-grown talent" so to say instead of using WWE guys so its good and kinda bad becaus if they dont release it will just cluter up the roster even more

Roster spots I'm not really worried about considering Raven and Sabu were let go, and Dreamer and Richards haven't been used very much at all since the decline of EV2.0. These boys are likely a bit green, so I'd imagine they'll be eased into spots in the company as opposed to Desmond Wolfe'd.

As for Moss, I know nothing about him, but like Mercer, all that matters here is that his personality is there. Personality comes before performance, always, but I'm glad to hear that the company is being a little more proactive about finding new talent. Talent is talent to me, so regardless of whether they came from WWE or not, it's always nice to see brand new faces.

To be honest, I dont know anything about these British guys. They will probably start out hot on TNA, and eventually get buried on the roster like everyone else. I like certain things about TNA, but, obviously, as has been stated so many times before....they hardly ever build new characters. I know all of this has been said before, numerous times, but, this is my opinion.

Went straight to you tube and he instantly reminded me of a cross between the great Chris Benoit and Tazz. Very reliant on his chops and his quick strike of offense and even uses the the triple german suplex and flying headbutt.

I made comparisons with Tazz as he seems to be able to pull out a T-Bone suplex or overhead release suplex at any time. Also has a really good look about him so he may be the goods.

Found a short 20 second promo and it wasn't bad, nor was it good. But if TNA invest the hours into this bright young talent, then im sure he could be a star.

I went to see some of his matches on Youtube vs Prince Devitt and Douglas Williams and they were both pretty good matches, I was Very Impressed by his mat skills in the ring and I saw a little promo of his and it was decent, I think he has alot of potential. I think this is another good signing by TNA.

I really like the fact that TNA are signing some good young talent. They are hopefully realising that their veteran talent cant go on forever, and probably dont want to rely on WWE cast offs all the time, as this immediately labels the company as the lower leagues.

I hope these new wrestlers get a good chance to do something in TNA, and are not just jobbed out. TNA are making the right decision in signing young talent with potential and now just need to clear out the dead wood and hasbeens on their roster and let this new talent have a shot

The only problem is that Moss wasn't signed by TNA. TNA didn't sign him, Jeff Jarret signed a contract to wrestle him one time in England from what I hear and that's about it.

It's good to see another plucky Brit in TNA because I myself am a plucky Brit. I think that TNA will have to release some more people though to make way. For example Shark Boy, the PPV was the first time in nearly a year that he'd actually made an appearance and TNA's roster is so clustered they probably won't do anything about what happened at Final Resolution.

There could be a great storyline though, like the re-forming of The British Invasion with Doug 'One Of The Finest Things In Life' Williams as their leader

I hope that TNA is going for a hybrid idea - I've no objection to former WWe stars who can go joining (I'd still like to see the WGTT reunite with Kurt Angle) along with the best in the indies (Briscoes and Wolves ideally at mo and for the love of God, bring back the fallen angel). As much as I adore what Ric, Hulk, Sting et al have done for wrestling - I feel that their presence just feels to much like a WCW reunion, especially with Easy E and JJ taggin along. TNA kicks WWe's butt as far as Tags go, they seem to be moving in the right direction with the Knockouts (though the Womens' Tag Belt has to go) and I think the World Title picture has improved. The X Division needs MUCH building though; a little less comedy - a lot more action!
