TNA Needs Eric Bischoff A Lot More Than You Think

TNA this weeks very overbooked. The entire first hour went by without a single standard one on one match. The show ended with the re-introduction of ECW and ended ridiculously with Dixie Carter revealing she "invited them". The editing was also a beauty by catching the very same ECW guys that were invited going "what?" in shock to the reveal. Now we look at this little detail:

The following are some excerpts from the latest online Facebook blog from TNA executive Eric Bischoff:
"Just talked to Vince [Russo], sounds like TV went well today. Next four months of TV is set up to be pretty exciting. Looking forward to it."
Bischoff later wrote:
"Thanks again Vince and Matt [Conway] for picking up my slack. Looking forward to the next set of TVs."

Basically, it says everything Bischoff normally did on booking was done by Russo. No Ferrara around either. basically it's as if he was holding back on ideas and just tossed them into one show. I don't want to come off as a Russo hater, but it point to him basically. With Dreamer distracted booking his reunion, Hogan gone and Bischoff off, things didn't go well at all. Do you agree?

Isn't this more an argument for not having Russo, than necessarily having Bischoff. Not that I'm a Bischoff hating per-se, but looking at the line up of the show from yesterday it was a very odd set of matches.

I guess you could argue he's the safety net, which is a fair point.

As for the 4 months thing, I reckon it's Bischoff and Russo trying to push Dixie to keep them on instead of bringing in Heyman. If both parties are contiuing to talk - then you would suggest it isn't working.

The only ECW guy that had a "WHAT?!" look, at least that I caught, was Al Snow. And I guess that's forgivable if the idea is he, as a TNA backstage guy, got caught up in the moment and came to help his old ECW friends but didn't really know what was going on at the time. Did Dreamer/Rhino/Raven/Richards act surprised by Dixie's comment? I know there wasn't much time.

I actually think they need him beyond just his regular duties of filtering Russo and the creative team for what makes TV and what doesn't, and how things make it – I think they actually need him much more so as an on-air character, because when it comes to the "Championship Committee" of Dixie Carter, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, no one has more credentials and no one is better suited for the role of an on-air personality to speak for TNA "management" than Bischoff. Hogan may get pops here and there, and

Dixie may be trying to get more involved, but Bischoff to me is the prototypical definition of what it means to be a management type on television.

I was scared when Dixie got up and started shouting "Stop it!". But yeah, I agree there. Bischoff's "importance" to TNA really showed these few days. Not just backstage, but on the show as well. It seemed to have little flow without an authority figure to name matches. Perhaps that's what the show actually lacked.

Since Victory Road which is where Russo allegedly took over again, you can see changes in TNA. There was a high concentration of gimmick stuff last night and more stuff that came from nowhere. Also there were odd things like Abyss and the food. They weren't bad necessarily, but they were just weird. The main event of the PPV is an object on a pole match as well. I think the thing here though is that there are enough people above him to keep him calm, which is the most important thing. If Russo has free reign, TNA is in trouble. If they have guys there to neutralize his insanity, such as Bischoff, things should be bearable. Last night's show was certainly not boring, but I'm still not sure if it was good or not. That's where the problem comes from with Russo: he has issues telling the difference between good show and entertaining show, which can come into play down the road.

Saying TNA needs Bischoff to control Russo is like saying your body needs chemo to keep the cancer in check, it's true but TNA/the body would be better off without both.

But I actually enjoyed TNA a little more than I normally do, while it was quite overbooked there were more quality matches last night than TNA has had in the past month. If Russo running things unchecked means MCMG vs. Beer Money, Jeff Hardy vs. Jay Lethal, and hell even Joe/Wolfe/Terry was pretty decent. And from reading the spoilers for next week we get Joe/Hardy and Angle/Hernandez... I'm more than ok without Bischoff.

Plus there were plenty of one on one matches, Kendrick/Williams, Pope/Morgan, Lethal Hardy etc.
