TNA Gambling BIG For New York

http://www.pwinsider.com/article/84415/tna-news-and-notes.html?p=1

This PWInsider report notes that, as I pointed out earlier in the thread would be smart, TNA is likely to use the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center(the early home of Raw- where it was taped a record 28 times), not the actual downstairs Hammerstein.

The reports also states that TNA would be interested in doing "multiple nights of tapings over several days", but that no dates have been set in stone yet.

To me this is a very smart move. The Grand Ballroom looks great for wrestling, surely comes slightly cheaper than its larger counterpart, and only holds roughly 1000 fans, about 1500 less than the roughly 2500 capacity of the Hammerstein. ;)

The Grand Ballroom, really? Jesus Christ.

First of all this is spam and you're better than that TDS.

Second, why would playing the Grand Ballroom illicit this reaction? Can you really expect them to sell out the whole Hammerstein for a random couple of Impact tapings and maybe a ONO?? Of Course not. The only reason ECW used to regularly sell it out is because it was doing a couple PPVs(which only occurred bi-monthly in the company anyway) a year there- big shows. ROH also is a regular there, but rarely sells it out, even for big shows. Did they sell out fast for War of the Worlds? Of Course, but that's on the strength of NJPW, and its stars that are far bigger than anyone ROH or TNA could ever hope to feature.

When ROH played a IPPV/TV taping double-shot in the Manhattan Center last year, where did they play the second night? The Grand Ballroom. Why? Because they knew they couldn't put a respectable crowd downstairs two nights in a row, and the Grand Ballroom looks AWESOME when its packed, far better than a half full Hammerstein.

For TNA's purposes, the Grand Ballroom is a far better option and should translate excellently to television, as it will probably be full.

If the Grand Ballroom was good enough to host 20+ Raws in the first couple years, its good enough to host some Impact tapings during the slow summer months.

Agreed, TNA needs to know it's limitations & it's wise for them have their tapings in the smaller venue.

Bump time!

PWInsider reporting:
http://www.pwinsider.com/article/84891/tna-in-nyc-update.html?p=1
TNA has completed a deal to run Impact Wrestling tapings at the Manhattan Center's Grand Ballroom this summer. I believe details of the first tapings will be announced on tonight's Impact.
I believe the first tapings will be the final week of June. PWInsider.com will 100% confirm the dates when we can.

If these are the end of June tapings they happen just after Slammiversary. They were also reporting earlier that TNA would be taping a PPV along with Impact episodes if they did indeed complete this deal, but if this time frame is correct and they add no more dates later in July, then that doesn't appear to be the case. Unless they add another ONO to their schedule down the line in the year, they are scheduled on Saturday to tape the last ones they have planned. That creates the scenario however that the tapings, which will likely stretch episodes into late July, could very well include a Destination-X Impact special instead.
