Time for Benjamin to Cross the Line?

Vintage

Goin' to da pay windah!!
Well, in a last show of utter disrespect to a quality performer and longtime employee Shelton Benjamin, he was released from his WWE contract today. I admit that Benjamin has his flaws which prevent him from elevating but a talent like him deserves better. If someone can't talk on the mic, get them a mouthpiece not a pink slip. He might not be happy right now, but I sure am. He's an athelete not an actor, I think he's been working in the wrong environment for years. I'd love to see what he can really do with those crazy ass X-Division wrestlers TNA has.

So what do you guys think, will he end up in TNA? Do you think he's a good fit? Will the Worlds Greatest Tag Team reform or will Shelton end up running the X-Division?

I'm sure they will reform TWGTT... Hass has been begging Benjamin not to resign with the E... I can't wait to see them wrestle teams like MCMGs, Gen Me, LAX, and Beer Money... Maybe TNA will put a little more focus on Tag Teams again as they have really talented teams...

I could also see Benjamin breaking out as a singles star in TNA, much like Christian and the Pope... He may not have much charisma but he can put on awesome matches... And who knows, in TNA he may find a gimmick that really fits him and really get a chance to shine...

I'm a big fan of the guy, and even though I saw this coming, when it actually happened, I didn't know how to react.

I think Dixie Carter should be typing out Shelton's contract as we speak to give to him.

You're right, I would mark for a WGTT reunion in TNA against Beer Money, Motor City Machine Guns, and LAX.

I'm also drooling at the prospect of a match with Shelton against AJ Styles. That's kind of a dream match situation.

I think that TNA would probably re-team him with Haas and then eventually have Shelton go for a single's title. Then again, I can see TNA not signing Charlie at all and just focus on pushing Shelton.

Either way, TNA signing Shelton Benjamin should be a no brainer.

For fuck's sake this always happens, a WWE employee is released and two minutes later there's a thread saying how they should go to TNA, and people wonder why some people call TNA a place full of ex WWE employees. TNA shouldn't grab every ex WWE employee, they should only get the ones that can genuinly help their product.

I'm not knocking Benjamen he's great in the ring but shit on the mic, ROH would better suit him where there's little talk and more wrestling.

I really hope so. If Shelton signs with TNA i'm pretty sure that Charlie haas will also sign with them and The worlds greatest tag team is the actual tag team that TNA needs. This could be awesome and now that Angle is taking some time off, I could easily see them signing with TNA and reuniting creating Team Angle all over again, if that some how happens I could see them as a top stable in TNA. Please TNA don't be stupid and go after Shelton and Haas.

Shelton signing with TNA (which will happen) will really not do much for the company. It'll give them another amazing wrestler who doesn't draw. Would I sign his? Yes. But don't expect it to make a big impact. Expect better Ultimate X matches, expect better ladder matches, and expect a deeper tag division if he comes in with Hass...but don't expect a ratings increase.

The very fact that WWE released Shelton shows that they don't believe he'll do anything of value in TNA.

I think that TNA shouldn't try to sign everyone the WWE releases too, but they should DEFINITELY sign Shelton Benjamin!

He's one of those guys where if the opportunity came their way, they should sign him.

I think he can definitely help their product. He's not gonna light it up on the stick, but he's a really good wrestler.

I wouldn't be suprised to see him in TNA. I fully suspect Haas to go to TNA and Benjamin to follow as they're really good friends and are friends with Angle. If Haas goes with him then I would love to see a remake of the worlds greatest tag team as I did love them and they had a range of good matches. As Alex Awesome said ROH would be a good fit as well, promo skills aren't needed as much as TNA or WWE so I could see him doing welll over there. He seems to love wrestling and ROH would be a better fit but I wouldn't ming seeing him in TNA

Nobody goes from WWE to ROH. Thats like leaving WWE for the original ECW and not trying to work for WCW who pays more and is closer to being on WWE's level. ECW got more released talent from WCW than WWE and WWE poached both for their top talent.

Yes, ppl will mention TNA first. They are the #2 promotion, get used to it. ROH is for newbies and TNA washouts.

Shelton will almost assuredly go to TNA, where he will do very well for himself. I am sad to hear he got the boot from WWE, but I really do think its the best thing for him. He is going to do great things in TNA with Haas, and eventually without him.

What I was trying to get across is you have to play to your strengths, Benjamen's is wrestling, that is it, if he went to TNA he'd probably get a decent push to start of with but that would most likely halt and he'd be where Kendrick is now. In ROH he would be pushed and be force to be reckoned with.

So your saying people like Bam Bam Bigelow who went from WWF/E to ECW and Mick Foley who went to from WCW to ECW were washouts??

Bam Bam also went to WCW when ECW wasn't paying enough. Same thing with Foley going to the WWF.

If there's some demand for your abilities in the 2nd biggest wrestling company in the U.S., you go.

The only reason why wrestlers go from the WWE to ROH or other Indy's instead of TNA is because there isn't a demand for them.

People saying Benjamin would be better suited in RoH are thinking backwards. The whole reason many of us are happy Shelton can go to TNA is so we can get to see him wrestle on a consistent basis and be in feuds, which is what wasn't happening in WWE. If he goes to RoH, a promotion that while talented, isn't easily accessible to most, which means we're in the same situation before he was released.

While having TWGTT in TNA would be cool, upon further inspection I don't see the point.

TNA doesn't have enough TV time for their existing tag teams! Unless they get Explosion on for an hour on Thursday, their roster is just too damn big anyways. Their existing tag teams:

-Beer Money
-Motor City Machine Guns
-Generation Me
-LAX (getting reformed)
-Team 3D
-The Band

Not to mention that Matt Morgan is already holding the tag belts! Of all of these teams, who exactly would you put Haas & Shelton in over?

Beer Money. Best Tag Team on the planet. Nope.

Motor City Machine Guns. I'm a mark but they're awesome and unique. Nope.

Team 3D. They're old but extremely famous/over. They don't suck in the ring. Nope.

Latin-American Exchange. Another strong and homegrown tag team from TNA that has two differing styles. Plus both of these guys talk better than TWGTT. Nope.

Generation Me. These guys bring just as much to the ring as Shelton when it comes to high-flying moves and are much younger. They also just made a recent commitment to these guys so I don't see it happening. Shelton does have better name value but these guys are up and comers so I don't see it happening.

The Band. Look, I know they're old and I know TWGTT is definitely better in the ring. But these guys have serious name value and Nash and Hall look better now than any point in the past 5 years. You can make an argument here based on in-ring abilities (by a mile) but exposure-wise the nWo is much stronger.

So why should TNA shell out money for another under-used tag team when they don't have enough air time for their current guys?

If Shelton comes to TNA, he should go right into the X Division against Samoa Joe and Kazarian because that appears to be the only fit to me. And that would be great because Shelton would be a lot of fun to watch in an X setting.

As for Haas? Well unless Kurt wants him like he did a few months back, I don't see the point right now in putting their tag team together again.

Preparing to be mauled by the legions of IWC Benjamin marks in 5......4......3.......2......1........

Exit: WWE, Enter: TNA.....I'm a loyal fan of the WWE but if Shelton goes to TNA, it'll give me a little incentive to follow TNA a little more.

You guys already said all there is to say so I'm just gunna leave on this note:
AIN'T NO STOPPING ME NOW!

If Benjamin goes to TNA, I may start to watch it. I've always loved watching him wrestle and he could do very well with the TNA guys (since they're a bit smaller and athletic than the WWE talent).

I don't care what with him I just hope Shelton goes to TNA!! He's needed to be there for some time now. That is the only place where the brass will give him a shot at anything. He went to the Gold Standard gimmick and...stopped winning gold...doesn't make sense. I think TNA would put some gold on him pretty quick, whether it's the Global (their intercontinental title), the World, or the Tag with Charlie Haas which isn't unlikely. Hell, we could even see Team Angle come back now...weird...

Well let me start out by saying I love Shelton Benjamin. I'm a total mark for him. Seeing him in TNA would be great personally, but he isn't needed by any stretch of the imagination. He isn't over (general audience standards), he doesn't draw, and he can't cut promos.

They've got plenty of talent already and they don't need yet another one they won't be able to use for all his worth. I firmly believe TNA would not use Shelton to his potential not because of incompetence on their part, but just a lack of TV time. They are stocked to the top with great wrestlers that aren't able to cut good promos, they hardly need another.

But who knows, he may pull a Pope and manage to squeeze out some charisma in TNA.

I think Benjamin and Hass would be a great addition to the X Division. Benjamin doesn't even need to talk. He can come out there and do what he is best at and that is wrestle. I would love to see some matches with him and Angle again, or even him and AJ Styles. He may not have the mic skills, but he is very talented worker and needs to shine in the spotlight in TNA.

I just want him to take that fucking dye out of his hair once and for all.I couldn't take him seriously while he was lookin like sisqo in gold trunks...maybe now he do what he does best and leap flip and wrestle his ass off.leave the mic time for someone else

I've always liked Benjamen and always believed he was the most underrated wrestler they had. However I can't blame WWE for letting him go he's had many chances to get over, and they need room for the younger guys coming up from FCW. In TNA he'll just be labeled as another WWE reject taking a spot from a homegrown talent. He will probably have some great matches, but he wont be a huge draw.

Is the WWE just TRYING to help TNA? I mean really, okay, let's disregard the following people. Hogan, Bischoff, Foley, Hall, Nash, Team 3-D, RVD, Sting, X-Pac...Now, with that being said, the WWE seems to be losing a lot of really "talented" wrestlers, NOT personalities. If the WWE isn't careful, it's going to be HHH, Orton, Cena & Batista with The Big Show, Jericho and maybe The Miz and Morrison rounding things out. So comparetively speaking, TNA is going to start kicking into high gear. Now, I'm not saying Shelton is the person to make this happen and by all means, he should go to TNA and he'll probably suceed and be happier, but stil...Be careful WWE. Too many stars are leaving.

But imagine him coming back and going after mr anderson. With that contingent of slodiers. He starts to get whooped... And two guys in uniform jump the ropes and start gut stomping anderson. Yep, Angle's Army.

Well, Shelton will eventually go to TNA - the guy has bills to pay, you know.

Will he help TNA in ANY way - maybe. Maybe he will maybe he won't.

Let's face it, if Elijah Burke was just released from the WWE and went to TNA we would all think the same thing.

"Bah, it's Elijah, what can he do for TNA" - well obviously a lot as he's over with the crowd and a push plus a gimmick change made this guy something rather huge, or at least VERY promising.

TNA is good at finding the pulse of one's gimmick and character. I am expecting and hoping for Shelton to go to TNA. Whether or not he'll "draw" is none of my concern. I'm a wrestling fan and Shelton is an amazing wrestler than can have breath taking matches.

Can't wait to see what he's REALLY made of.

Big Shelton fan on this end. Can't wait for him to make the jump and actually get some notice.
