Reason: This song is stuck in my head and gets consistent play on my iPod. The lyrics are great, but to me, it's the guitar solo at the end that puts the song over the edge as one of my all time favorite songs. I like this live version of the song since it was on their "Hell Freezes Over" performance and the opening of the song is different yet adds something to the song.

Why I am posting it: I love Christmas Music, and I love rock music. Combining the 2 is even better. And when I'm in a shit mood (like I'm currently in), the best way to alleviate that mood is to listen to some Christmas Music. Plus, Dee Snider looks absolutely hysterical in the video.

NOTE: When listening to the song, you will notice the beat is recycled (completely) from Twisted Sister's hit "We're Not Gonna Take it." Also, at 2 different points, the guitarist breaks into a different song. Why I Posted: It's easily my favorite song on their new album. It's a love song like only Coheed and Cambria could do. And considering the last love song I remember from them featured the (roughly paraphrased) lyric "I'd do anything for you. I'd cut the throats of babies..." I'd consider this a real step up.

It also helped me get a hold of an integral character's personality during my writing. He turned out rather well, if I may say so. Not as well as some others, but better than quite a few.

As I Lay Dying are pretty good, used to fucking love them when they first came out years ago, used to fucking jam out to their first album all the time. They've kind of fallen off since. "Forever" and "94 Hours" are still two of the best metalcore songs you'll ever find though.

Reason: Just a brilliant song that's way too complex and deep for me to even begin to address what it's about. Like all Tool songs though it has several layers of meaning, the most of which is about Jungian philosophy on human evolution and the ability of human beings to evolve into the next plain of consciousness (with the addition of two new chromosomes, thus the title Forty Six & Two). Brilliant song from a brilliant group.

1) There's a serious lack of country in this thread
2) Too many songs today are about hatred, violence or sadness. I think people need to do a better job of listening to songs with happy and positive messages.

Reason: I've recently become a fan of the sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother' and this song was played during an episode in Season 2 and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since. I've liked a couple of songs from The Decemberist for years (Of Angels and Angles and We Both Go Down Together, both from the album The Crane Wife, for example are two songs I've listened to countless times since I first heard them in 2005/2006), but for some reason I never checked out any of their stuff outside of The Crane Wife. That's certainly about to change though.
