I saw this topic posted on the main page a few hours ago and thought it was an interesting discussion. Now, don't get me wrong, both guys are going to get a great reception from the fans at Mania, my hope is that the fans in the arena respect what the WWE has done and doesn't become a smarky crowd like at the Royal Rumble. But, in the event that they play ball, who do you think gets the better reaction from the California loyal?

For me, I'm going to go with Sting. The Undertaker is a legend in the business and more importantly in the history of WrestleMania. So by rights, he should be getting one of the biggest pops of the evening. But I don't think it will be the biggest. I think that will be reserved for the Icon Sting. And I firmly believe that for a couple of reasons. Firstly, their opponents. Triple H has been the top heel in the company for the last year, like it or not. People genuinely hate him for one reason or another. His role in the Authority has pushed him into the bad books of the fans and I bet they can't wait to see him get his ass beat with a baseball bat once and for all. The same cannot be said for Bray Wyatt. For me, he isn't an out and out heel, despite how much the WWE are trying to market him as "the new face of fear"... At the end of the day, people like him and his edge. I feel the crowd might be a little split because of this. The fans want to see Bray win and get the rub. They don't want to see Triple H get the win. Whatsoever.

Secondly, it's Sting's first and perhaps only WrestleMania. He's been a legend in the business for more than a couple of decades and now he's finally made it to WrestleMania. Not to put down any of The Undertaker's accomplishments at Mania but it is a routine that we all seen before. That's not to say that it won't set the hairs on the back of your neck on end. But I think that the fans will realise that a Sting appearance at Mania is a special event and will react accordingly.

But what's your thoughts?

I think the novelty of Sting's very first match and it happening at WrestleMania will give him the edge in terms of crowd reaction. Also, even though there's no real way of knowing until it happens, I have a feeling that more people are expecting Sting vs. Triple H to be a better match and that gives Sting a bit more of an advantage. Apart from a few pictures taken via Michelle McCool, we've no real way of knowing how Taker looks, how good he's feeling and what he's able to do in the ring. The last time we saw Taker was, in terms of being in good shape and in-ring performance, Taker at possibly his all time lowest and WWE has kept him off television the entire time for his build with Bray Wyatt. So, all we have to guess by is Taker from last year and the result is a lot of people not having high hopes.

Generally speaking, I don't thing Sting & Taker have too much to worry about in terms of response. Even smarky crowds give them the respect they deserve, yet I have a feeling there'll be a pretty smark heavy crowd at WrestleMania. The match with the most to be concerned about, in my opinion, in terms of how the smarks behave themselves will be Lesnar vs. Reigns as I expect a good number of them to crap all over the match just because they feel like it. Why? Because they're fully aware WWE management is hoping that they won't, so even if the show itself turns out to be quite strong overall, I believe they'll give the title match the business just because they want to.
