The time limitations...

ShinChan

Gone. For. Good.
This thread is about the time limitations at Wrestlemania 33 due to which several matches weren't what they could be. For example:

Raw's Women Championship- 12:13
Smackdown's Women Championship- 5:33
InterContinental Championship- 10:54
WWE Championship- 10:21

I think that these 4 matches particularly suffered due to the time they got. What's mind-boggling is that WWE Championship was of less time than either InterContinental Championship or Raw's Women Championship. Most notably, Raw's Women Championship should've got atleast 5 minutes more as it wasn't a regular match but a fatal four way match. The women stole the show at last year's Wrestlemania and I think that they could again if given some ample time.

Other matches were of fine length with Rollins Vs. Triple H a bit long.

Of all those I thought the Raw women put on the best show with the little time they had. The rest were meh to downright bad in a very good Wrestlemania.

the problems with this is that they put so many main event calibers matches on the card that at some point they need to cut time on the less important matches. You look at the 4 matches listed in the original post, these we'Re four forgettable matches that really didn'T need more time that they got.

Did you want to see Orton vs wyatt in a 30 minute match? Same goes for ambrose and corbin. Personally, i really don'T want to see it. The women's we'Re just buffer matches for the card so they really didn'T need that much time on the card.

The thing is that mania, if you count the pre-show is almost a 7 hour event now which is already too much time for one event, so if you give more time to every matches that don'T mean that much then you go from 7 hours to 8 hours which is a even worst amount of time.

Personally, what i would like to see at mania, is either cut the number of matches on the card or have less main event matches that takes a lot of time. In the early years of mania, they could do a 14 match card in under 3 hours by having alot of short matches and the event we're still fun to watch. So if you want to have that many matches on the card every year, why not just go and book more filler matches and less drawn out on that way you can keep your show in or around the 4 hour marks for the main show and still have a match or 2 on the preshow.

If I say that a WWE Championship match was of almost 11 minutes and needed more time then it doesn't mean that it should go on for 30 minutes.

Plus, it's Wrestlemania. I ain't here to watch filler matches. Do you think that multiple filler matches will make Wrestlemania good or some good matches?

I also didn't imply to increase the timing of the whole event. I just asked for more time management. I would rather have these matches get some more time than getting some performances by singers.

No, the reason these matches suffered was due to the talent not performing that well. Bayley is dull, Corbin and Ambrose lack chemistry (and wasn't that bad), Wyatt is not that talented, and Orton has bad nights.

I will agree on the SD needing more time. It was like Carmella got too much feature time and everyone else was just going through the motions to get to the abrupt ending.

And other than pre-show does time really matter anymore? That show went well beyond the usual end time for no reason. It's not like the feed cuts out or the Orlando crowd was getting pushed out.

The overall length of WrestleMania and the matches that were obviously rushed are probably the biggest complaints about this year's show. When you factor in the main card and kickoff show, you had a 7 hour show and that's a long damn time for any wrestling program. As a result, you had to know that some matches that should've been longer were going to be shortened and one of those matches should NEVER be a WWE Championship match.

Overall, however, I felt the matches made good use of the time that they had but it wasn't long enough, in some cases, to get the most out of them. In my opinion, WWE should either cut back on the overall time of the show and let people know that they're simply not going to be on the card or they need to think of how they can spread the show out over 2 days so that, if they have a lot of matches on the card, every match can get the necessary time.

Would you people have preferred another 90 second Goldberg/lesnar match??

Because that was so awesome at survivor series.

And undertakers match was far far too long..,

Same result but five minutes would have done takers legacy justice.

I get your point, I really do but those 4 match really didn't need to be longer. The ic title match was a pre show match so you didn't need to give it more time. The 2 women's matches we're filler matches so they we're te right amount of time. As for the wwe title match, I think 11 minutes for that match was the perfect length, over the year, they're have been wwe title match that were short title matches.

Wrestlemania is more of a spetical of a show then an actual wrestling event so you need to give time to everything from matches to musical performance because that what wrestlemania is all about.

As for filler matches, look at the history of mania, every mania until let's say wrestlemania 16 has use filler matches on the card, that how you make thoses bigger matches on the card fill special. If you put only long main event quality matches on that card, nothing fill special. I look at this year card and I seen a couple of those matches fail because of this, owens vs jericho and orton vs wyatt we're a victim of having to many main event matches on the card. Since you didn't have buffer matches to put before those matches they became buffer matches,.

7 hours for a event is too long for any event but that's not going to change and since this as too be more abot the entertainment then the wrestling, you will be stuck with matches that's are less important and which will get less time. That's just the name of the game. I miss the earlier mania when you would get 14 matches in the spend of 3 hours and most matches lasted less then 10 minutes.

Again it's all about priorities.

You think that women matches were buffer and that's your opinion but for me, it wasn't buffer.

Wrestlemania should be more about wrestling and people don’t go there to see musical performances there. There are various concerts for that. People go to get entertained by wrestling. If not, at least I watch a wrestling event for something relevant to wrestling while musical performances are totally irrelevant.

Again if something has happened in past, that doesn't mean that it should happen again. It should only if it's right to begin with in the first place.

I wish you luck and enjoyment of musical performances in a wrestling event.

I'm like you I hate having musical performance at mania. But I understand why they are on mania. By your logic, it's like saying that peoples go to the superbowl to see football and don't care about the half show performance. Wrestling fans have 11 others event if not more to be entertained by wrestling, wrestlemania should be the superbowl of wrestling and should look like it which mean tha while some of us don't like those musical performance, they are a necessary evil to make the event feel bigger then all the other shows of the year.

I don't know what's Super Bowl so I can't really say about it.

The musical performances are all okay if they don't affect the original programming. As in this Wrestlemania, they were all but 10 minutes which I can go through.

But I'm more into that at least at Wrestlemania, some big match-ups like WWE Championship should've been atleast 15 minutes. I can live with Goldberg Vs. Brock Lesnar under 5 minutes because it's better when it's short. But the match of WWE Championship was ended abruptly. Too rushed. Same for Women's Championship.

That's your opinion but for me, i thought the wwe championship match was just the right length. these really didn't need 15 minutes, the match was already boring so adding 5 minutes to it wouldn't have made a difference. Plus look at the history of wrestlemania, it'S not the first time a wwe championship match lasted under 15 minutes. As for the 2 women's title match, with the lack of build up for both matches, they we're positions as buffer matches even if you don'T think they we're so they got the right length for what they we're suppose to accomplish which was to be the buffer between to big matches.

The match was boring because it was rushed. 12 minutes for a fatal four way match? Less time means that you have got to rush and that directly brings down the quality of any match.

Again if something has happened in history, it doesn't mean that it should always. Divas Division sucked for most time but does it mean that it should continue sucking?

I can agree about Smackdown Women Championship match being something filler but Raw Women Championship? Nopes, that's ridiculous. After the women stole the show at Wrestlemania 32, they should've gotten more time.
