Getting Noticed By Management
I was just wondering who, if any, people on these forums are big fans the Super Smash Brothers games, be it Brawl or Melee or even the N64 original. If you are, I just decided to make a thread dedicated to the games to discuss pretty much anything related to them: favorite characters, ideas for new characters, favorite stages, ideas for new stages, professional players/matches/tournaments, anything. I'm pretty hardcore about melee (although i do own Brawl as well) and play Captain Falcon as my main character in melee mostly because his combos are fucking sick, and he's clearly the most badass guy. C-Falcon FTW.

I have played and LOVE all of these games. Of all of them, my favorite would be the original, but only because it's the only one that I have owned (though I don't anymore). These games are just pure fun, especially when playing with a group of friends. This game really was a revolution in the fighting genre, and I'm surprised that there haven't been many "clones" of it. It just may be the funnest game I have ever played. Also, Fox was always my guy; I became an expert at juggling people for the longest time.

I've been a fan of Smash Bros since the 1st game. As far as characters go I use quite a few of the rather well. In the N64 game I used mainly Kirby and Pikachu. In the original Kirby was seen as one of the best due to his flight ability and eating power. At the time I was and still am a fan of pokemon so Pikachu just kinda happened. Then came Melee where I found it really hard to be Kirby for some reason. I was not a fan of the running fireball move. It often times would get me into dicey situations involving the ledge. My main characters in that game wound up being Pikachu again, but this time thanks to the charging of smash moves I could use him with a lot more effectiveness. Jigglypuff actually is one of my best in that game due to the rollout ability it had. I was able to control that thing very well on any stage and actually won a tourny with it. Now we have brawl. My characters in that are Kirby, Mr. Game and Watch, and Meta Knight. Kirby I feel that they fixed back to the way he was in the original so I use him very well. Game and Watch I average in a 4 way 10 stock vs 3 lvl 9 cpus... 20 KO's and am usually KOed between 5 and 6 times. Meta Knight is just fun for me as I am a huge Kirby fan and having Meta in the game is just a huge bonus for me. So those are my characters, what do you guys think? Who are your bests?

Hey Vince your the second person that I've heard of using Cpt. Falcon in Melee. My girlfriend's friend actually plays as him too and abuses the Hell out of all his combos. It's really interesting cause you don't see it often. Do you use him in brawl too?

When I play Brawl i sometimes use Captain Falcon but it makes me pretty fucking angry because the developers absolutely raped him in Brawl and made him way less effective (in general brawl is just worse than melee). In melee i abuse the shit out of his combo potential as well(hes BY FAR the most combo heavy in the game) but in Brawl he is much worse because Brawl reduced the game speed and made true combos non-existent. Also, the knee is much much harder to sweet spot and if you use the Falcon kick in the air you cant use your recovery after which is stupid. But despite that i can still kick reasonable amounts of ass in Brawl.

Your characters are pretty cool, but i personally can't use Meta Knight in Brawl on principle, because he is the most overpowered character in fighting game history. For a pink puff ball, Jigglypuff is pretty sick mainly cuz of his Down B, which i hope you have mastered because that makes you automatically badass (rest ftw).

I'm more a fan of Link tbh. His up and A attack lets you juggle oppenents forever and a day.

I played Brawl for the first time the other day, and was shocked that Mario no longer does the spinning fists but squirts water out of a machine on his back instead. WTF? Wario was a nice edition, but i wish i'd had the chance to play as Solid Snake.

Someone hasn't played sunshine then? That's FLUDD. But on topic, I quite enjoy these games, many an hour has been wasted playing it til silly o clock on the morning, I like how it keeps the same simple game play yet improves on it with the single mode, the characters and the levels. Plus it's a pretty different way to do a fighting game, you can be on 500% damage and beat someone on 10% I love it. Plus it has opened franchises to the west (earthbound, Fire Emblem) and has some nifty hidden extras.

I prefer Captain Falcon. He's ridicously fast and his Final Smash assures that anyone that gets caught within the wrath of the Blue Falcon gets KO'ed. Besides, FALCON PUNCH!!!

Yes I have mastered Jiggly's Down B. In Melee I literally had no choice but to master it. In brawl though they really toned down it's power, but added the lip's stick effect which I think sucks cause it was really a pain to master that technique. It's still effective, but just not as much as it used to be. I personally can not play as Captain Falcon. I mean I can, bu I do very poorly in both brawl and melee. There's just something about him that I don't like. Perhaps it has to do something with me Falcon Kicking myself to death hundreds of times over. Gannondorf though I can play pretty decently though in Melee... Makes no sense to me as they're basically clones, but whatever.

I saw someone saying that they were shocked that Mario lost his old Down B tornado spin. I'm really not surprised by it. Was the FLUDD the best choice for a replacement? No I don't think so, but I do think that more differences between Mario and Luigi were needed and the Mario Tornado just happened to be one of those moves to be changed.

I do admit that Captain Falcon was toned down significantly for Melee and Brawl. I take that back. I prefer to use Ganondorf. Although slower and the fact that his Volcano kick takes forever to charge, he's heavier and has more powerful moves like his Warlock Punch.

Well, to be honest if anyone gets hit with a warlock pawnch they pretty much suck worse than Giant Gonzales in the ring. That's the most obnoxious move in Super Smash Brothers and takes years to pull off (much like the volcano kick). But, despite the fact that Gannondorf is a fucking lug he's still a bad ass and his Dair is awesome (he stomps your god damn face in), especially when you spike you opponent with it.

On another note, I am currently thinking about the possibility of doing a humorous Book This! thread in which my wrestling promotion with be made up of the Super Smash Brothers roster (including everyone from Brawl and Melee). Of course this would not be taken very seriously but would be fun to write and read. If you would be interested in seeing it then let me know. Even if you never really played Smash Brothers it will still be easy to get into because the roster is a collection of all stars from various popular video games.
