The Streak Is Over: What's Next For Crimson?

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
Yup. The streak is over. Finally.

I said in the LD among the talk that Storms' return and victory over Crimson would push him into obscurity that I actually feel it'll be exactly the opposite, and I still feel the same. IMO this will actually allow Crimson to finally shed the undefeated nonsense that's been haunting him a while now and move past it into a more realistic push as a more weasely type of heel who'll complain non-stop for the next few weeks about how he was cheated out of the win, or will make up excuses for why he lost, etc. For a guy who's been booked like a dominant heel who hasn't actually been dominant, this is the best possible thing for him.

For those of you old enough to remember, think Jerry Lawler from the Lawler/Bret Hart feud from the mid 90's. I realize Lawler never went through this kind of streak and was never booked dominantly, but think about the Lawler we got following the Kiss My Foot match. The one going to extreme lengths to discredit Hart and to come up with excuses Ad nauseam to discredit anyone trying to discredit him.

I could be dead wrong, but that's my take on it.

What do ya'll think? Where does Crimson go from here?

If anyone scrolls down through the TNA discussion section, I've blasted Crimson, not for the first time either.

I'm not his biggest fan; or a fan of him at all, actually. I get their attraction in making him look good, big guy, looks like he could be pretty dominant, okay on the microphone, they started this streak angle and hell, he even referenced Goldberg which sparked some discussion among those who frequently use the Internet as a means for discussing wrestling, but to me, Crimson is now going on a fast trek to nowhere-ville.

They've removed the one thing he could talk about. The one thing he could brag about. The one thing that made him interesting and notable, and even that wasn't precisely impressive. Defeating people who don't regularly appear on television, defeating people who don't find themselves regularly on winning ways, defeating people with the aid of others and then bragging about dominance. Sure, it's arrogance, common heel tactic, but it doesn't translate well through him, for me, and now I think we'll see him steadily appear before sliding down the slippery slope to obscurity of the lower card.

Maybe he'll prove his doubters wrong, he may even get a Television Championship run, wouldn't doubt it. Personal opinions aside, the guy cut a good promo on Impact, a decent pre-match promo tonight, he has a cool t-shirt, he seems to have backing in the offices, maybe he'll achieve more than I expect. But what I hope for, is him achieving little or vastly improving.

If we're lucky, he'll end up on the future endevored list

Crimson is so boring, he puts everyone to sleep

personally what disgusted me more was all the talk on these type of sites about him. I mean if you dont like a guy, why talk about him so much... Good or bad...mostly bad...there is someone posting about him on sites like these. Anyways...this can go 1 of 2 ways now that his streak is over. 1...tna can go nowhere w this and be clueless about what to do w crimson. 2. For a few weeks you can have him interfere in roode's matches for no reason and beat roode or roode and roode's opponent til he gets a title match

I'm not too sure but; wait, it is, this is an Internet based discussion forum, where the object is to create topics, and discuss them. It's kind of the entire point of the site, if we didn't, we'd all look at our computers monitors at nothing but blanks, as new headlines flash across the scroll bar per-norm.

And it "disgusted" you? Pretty interesting choice of word. Racism disgusts me. Rape disgusts me. The smell of shit disgusts me. People discussing a professional wrestler on an Internet based discussion forum disgusts you? Wow, pretty easily disgusted person.

didnt say discussing disgusted me...pretty much said the amount of bitching disgusted me. That is mostly due to the fact that I'm always reading that the IWC doesnt care about him, he's boring, blah blah. If that were the case then why all the chatter? If I didnt give a damn about someone...why would I talk about them? Maybe just maybe, tna went about thiis the right way because clearly people bitch about him lol. Anyways I hope he can go somewhere with the cocky heel thing or maybe morph his character into something else.

You know, i think this is the BEST for crimson, not a bad choice either for having someone like storm end it instead of a guy like EY. I Think more people will grow on him without the streak. He is decent in the ring, it's just this "streak" was holding him back. I Hope a lot of good things are ahead for him, because actually he's one of my favourites on the TNA roster.

personally, i don't get him losing tonight unless they are going to put him into the main event picture which i don't see. it was a throw away to help get James Storm over which wasn't needed. maybe the next feud will be crimson vs james storm which will lead to crimson getting a title run but i doubt it since james storm is a more like choice. to me, it was just a waste. why build something up for it to be tossed away to easily?

The way I saw it from the beginning..I always thought he could be the "Randy Orton" of TNA rather than a Goldberg. Sure he is green, but honestly he has good potential. I hope iMPACT Wrestling figures that out quickly. I remember Taz once calling him a "blue chipper" and honestly I have to agree. I just hope they build him right after his first loss.

I wouldn't be surprised if Crimson asked for this. This removes the goldberg stigmata away from his character. This way that can be set aside and He can focus on wrestling and promos.

I'd like to see him team up with Gunner and play up the fact that they are both Marines. Or see him go after the TV title. A cool way to get heat would be to keep calling himself undefeated.

I hope this leads him to a short stay at OVW. Not talking a year, but at least 6 months. Give him some time to learn and tweak his in-ring skill. The guy has got loads potential. He can be a main event player in a years time if built up right. He just needs to work on the in-ring skills a bit and find a proper character.

Or we can bring back Amazing Red and they can form a Tag Team. Brothers of Disruption?

What if he goes on a long losing streak now? The loss to James Storm erodes at his confidence and he becomes a former shell of himself. Maybe the cameras could follow him on a journey of the soul as Larry Darrell did in The Razor's Edge.

Well, the streak wasn't working for Crimson, so they turned it into fodder for James Storm's comeback. I see a lot of lemonade here where there used to be a lot of lemons.

As far as Crimson... who knows? It's clear TNA/IW still has faith in him, so I don't think they're going to give him a wevedecidedtogoinadifferentdirection. On the other hand though, he'd be pretty easy to kill with silence. If people are going to adhere to Crimson, he's got to be doing something significant. Have him stretcher out James Storm on Thursday, or have him brutalize Devon for the TV title (hopefully raising two phoenixes with one stone). Don't, for the love of Jesus, send him out there as part of a thrown together tag match that no one will care about.

The big failure of the streak is that it wasn't a story. He was just winning matches. Almost no one was invested in the story of the streak, and whether it would last or not. (There are some people to whom you can sell anything, I've found.) Give Crimson something where he can develop a personality. Short term, fans need to know TNA/IW still has faith in him (they do), long term, he needs something about himself to sell.

first off, i guess i'm glad the streak ended as we havent really seen Crimson wrestle often lately anyway. Second, as for what's next for him, my hope is maybe a TV title push. i really want some heels that either are midcarders or are future midcarders to hold that title. Devon's not bad, but he's not going to make that title worthy, i think a guy like Bully Ray would be perfect for that title and have him bring prestige to it, but i doubt they do that, so maybe look into Crimson then when he loses it, lose it to a midcard face.

as for who broke the streak, my hope is that it leads to Storm's comeback where he ends up winning the BFG series and then winning and ending Roode's title run as it would do two things. 1) Give Roode and TNA a really long running champion and 2) it would end with another young, TNA homegrown talent winning the title.

Thought the undefeated moniker was wasted once he started his "streak" then they took him off tv for awhile. Thought the undefeated moniker was wasted when they put him in a tag team. Thought the undeated moniker was wasted when you go over a year without being pinned, yet don't have the credibility to demand a title shot. Simply put, I thought the undefeated moniker was wasted.

But him losing to Storm could be beneficial. Now they can reintroduce each other with a beef that will re-establish Storm's spot in the main event, while establishing Crimson's upper midcard talent. When Crimson & Gunner debuted around the same time, I knew TNA found two top physical specimens that had the look to make an Impact(pun intended). Now both have fallen back to the lower card due to not being able to connect with the fans in their own way. I'm not the biggest fan of Crimson right now, but I do see him making of a play than Gunner & the company is supporting him more. Hopefully this loss can lead to more character development.

This could be a good thing for Crimson. I really do think he has the potential in the future to develop into a top talent in the company but he is a long way off at the moment. I dont think the company has done him any favours trying to establish him in the way that they have with "the streak". No-one has bought into it and i personally think he has been given some unfair critiscism on him as a wrestler due to the way he has been booked.

Its strange in a way that the best work we have seen from Crimson (especially from a character perspective) has been his gloating about his streak in the past few weeks only for the streak to be ended soon after the reigns were taken off and he has been given more opportunity to put across his character.

Im hoping they go down the road a couple of others have said and allow him to develop his heel persona a bit more, turn him into a cheating, weasley heel who will do anything to win and disregards any victory over him as fluke, luck etc. Get him into a couple of decent feuds and see where it takes him.

His next step is WWE, because Impact Wrestling is not gonna use him right from here on out, and quite honestly, other than Sting, Bully Ray, Austin Aries, AJ Styles, and Roode, Impact Wrestling is a joke, I refuse to take it serious.

I'm as much of a WWE fan as I'm a TNA fan but I can't help but get mad when I see idiotic post like this.

Have you watched Raw last week, it was HORRIBLE, the WWE is going in TNA rating number territory if they keep things that way. You can use the same reductive comment about WWE. Other than Punk, Bryan, Cena (not for me but he's still a big name) and Ziggler WWE is a joke, you could say the same thing, but your brand loyalty make you refuse to see it.

I have the same gripe when TNA fans say WWE suck, they hate it or they will never watch it. Both product are fairly similar with some good and bad stories and some good and bad wrestling matches.

As for the streak I find it funny that they decided to end it as it was JUST starting to "work" now that he was a heel. But you have to give him more credible opponnent at one point. You can't say you are the most dominant guy in wrestling when Brodus Clay in 10 matches made more of an impact than you ever did. They should have stuck with it and feed him bigger name IF they ever wanted to do something bigger with him (maybe they don't).

He was barely relevent with the streak, so now that he lost it I see a Jesse Neal future or Samoa Joe future... not very good.

Yeah this post adds nothing to the discussion. All you've done is shown a heavy bias towards the WWE which means your opinion on Impact Wrestling is worthless as there is no objectivity in your post or evidence to validate your point not that it belongs in this topic anyway. You think Impact Wrestling is a joke? Good for you but no-one in this thread cares.

I agree with RD_21. I really did think we were starting to see something from Crimson's persona in the past few weeks prior to Storm pretty much destroying him yesterday. Be interesting to see where they go with him now.

hes awful, but the next thing is obviously the BFG series, crimson will be entered and maybe hel win, maybe he wont who knows. But with his current loss i can see him beating Devon for the TV title since its ok for him to lose it whenever now

That would be hilarious if he went on a losing streak now lol but I don't think that would be good for business. I hate losing streak storyline and I can't think of a single successful one.

I'd like to see him team up with Gunner and play up the fact that they are both Marines. Or see him go after the TV title. A cool way to get heat would be to keep calling himself undefeated.

GREAT idea, another team in the division, both small(ok not small but you know what I mean) powerhouses!

I think this could be the best thing to happen for Crimson. As we all know now, the BFG series begins on Thursday and I think everyone expects James Storm to be the ultimate winner of this. However, the series doesn't normally lead to a storyline for it's participants (it's just a series of random matches with no real build ups), which could be detrimental for Storm's heat. Now, just suppose there is someone else in the series with a legitimate beef with the Cowboy - someone who maybe causes him to lose his first couple of matches or attacks his opponents so that he actually goes into negative figures... now, if we only had someone who had that sort of motivation... someone who James has maybe shown up;)

I'm glad that this streak has been put to rest. Crimson does have potential, but it seemed that this whole streak of his was almost setting him up for failure. Like all the "comparisons" to Goldberg. The two are completely different from each other. Crimson isn't bad on the mic, but he does need to keep improving int the ring. I could see him getting the TV title in the near future, but not quite the HW strap. Or possibly pair him with Gunner and form a new tag team. He could have another run as a tag champ.

I was getting beyond excited when I started hearing the Goldberg chants. And he mention Goldberg on Impact before. I just had high hopes that it would be him, and when it was Storm I for once didn't enjoy seeing him.

It just seemed ridiculous really. Why end it with a returning Storm? And it seemed like a squash match, or it was, I'm not entirely sure right now.
