The Stone Cold vs Eddie Guerrero feud that never happened

A REAL American
Back in 2002 slightly after Wrestlemania 18 the WWE re-hired Eddie Guerrero back to the company after releasing him a year earlier. Around this same time WWE megastar Stone Cold Steve Austin was having his own problems with the WWE behind the scenes. Stone Cold was out of the WWE title picture. But heading into the summer Stone Cold was thrown into a feud with ring veteran Eddie Guerrero. They had segments that would lead up to their match-up at that years King of the Ring pay per-view. Like the famous bar brawl on RAW where Eddie struck Austin in the back with a beer. This match-up with Stone Cold Steve Austin would have done further wonders for Eddy Guerrero's career. But around that time...Austin had walked on the WWE.

Eddie Guerrero was pissed about the news and the WWE had Ric Flair replace Stone Cold in the feud with Eddie. Ric Flair was passes his prime even before his days in Evolution. So Eddie Guerrero really couldn't benefit from this feud with Flair. So if Steve Austin didn't "Take his ball and go home" so to speak. What could have been the outcome of this feud between Austin and Eddy Guerrero?

It's funny, at that time the week after Benoit returned and attacked Austin, I thought he, Flair and Guerrero would form a new Four Horsemen type group on Raw with Regal as their fourth member, to feud with Austin. 7 months later, Flair would form Evolution with Triple H, Batista & Randy Orton instead.

I'm not so sure if the feud would have been good. One of Austin's complaints and reasons for walking out, was that the writers were piss-poor and they were giving him shit storylines, which they were. If handled correctly, the feud could have been very good and Eddie could've come out looking like a star, but with how creative was at the time, I don't think it would've and I wouldn't have been suprised if they had just booked one match between the two at the King Of The Ring, had Austin win, and then ended it right there. If they couldn't get it right with Austin/Lesnar, they weren't gonna with Austin/Eddie.

I read somewhere one time that Austin actually asked that Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit be moved from "Smackdown" to "Raw", because he wanted fresh opponents he had never faced before, and personally hand-picked these two as guys he wanted to feud with.

Furthermore, the plan was for Austin v Eddie Guerrero at KOTR, and maybe one other match, Benoit would cost Austin, and then they would have Austin v Benoit at two PPVs and if they went well, they would continue it to a third PPV as well (maybe in a cage), then they would have Austin & Flair v Benoit & Guerrero, and Flair would turn on Austin, starting a feud between them.

However, a year's worth of programs went out the window when Austin walked out, and we never got to see these matches.
