The Sports Bar

If the last few years have taught us anything, you win championships with pitching, not hitting. Weaver and Wilson is a nice one two punch but after them have jack shit in their rotation. They would have been better served spending money to fill out their rotation rather then astronomically overspending on a guy who hasn't played 150 games in a season since 2008. Their lineup certainly gets better and it wasn't a bad signing, they just had bigger needs and paid way too much to get him.

Seems Goddell wants to expand the NFL playoffs to 14 or 16 teams. Good lord, what is wrong with the format now? Nothing, it seems perfectly fine.

The Jets lost to the Titans and NFL.com is stating they are officially eliminated from the playoffs. This clears up the playoff picture in the AFC a bit as of right now NFL.com is saying only the Steelers and Dolphins can still get in.

Honestly, If they were going to be eliminated form the playoffs anyway, it is in the best in terest of the franchise to have it happen now. Mark Sanchez should sit his ass on the bench for the rest of the year, as well as Bart Scott. Lets see what we can get out of McElTebow and DeMario Davis (3rd round rookie MLB). Bart Scott isn't coming back, and Sanchez is only going to play next year for the Jets if they can't swap him out, so it's not like them playing will do anything to help the Jets.

The next 2 weeks will be auditions for the 2013 squad. The only guys that should be guaranteed to be on the team next year are Nick Mangold, David Harris, Antonio Cromartie, and D'Brickashaw Ferguson. The rest can be had with the right deal (yes, even Revis, who I would happily trade only for a monster haul).

And if they don't draft a skill position player or sign an elite skill position player then whoever is GM this offseason should get fired.

That game was disgusting. Even worse then the Thanksgiving ButtFumble Game, since at least then we knew the game was over at Halftime and it was against a great opponent. The shitty-ass Titans kept trying to give the Jets the game (a fucking 20 yard punt with 50 seconds left), and the Jets just wouldn't take it.

But I thought 'Sanchize' was the guy?
He could have been. If only they actually tried to not sabotage him by pulling him out for plays and having total shit around him. His receiving/TE corps is as follows: Jeremy Kerley (decent 2nd or 3rd WR), Chaz Schillens, Mardy Gilliard, Clyde Gates, Jeff Cumberland, Konrad Reuland, Braylon Edwards. The #1 receiver is a guy they just picked up middle of the week in Edwards, who 4 teams have already given up on (including the Jets). They have no #1 running backs, just 3 guys that are at best change of pace backs. And people wonder why they suck as an offense?

Sanchez has never been the main problem with the offense. If they put 2 solid skill position players around him the team would be a 10-win team no doubt. IE his first 2 years when they had Thomas Jones and Braylon and Braylon and Santonio Holmes respectively.

And yeah, his first 2 seasons were still better then Staffords first 2 seasons. Stafford couldn't stay on the field and the team sucked ass. Now Stafford is magically staying healthy and has Calvin Fucking Johnson, that kinda makes the difference.

Stafford is and always will be 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000> then sanchez

If Sanchez was any good the receiving core wouldn't make as much of a difference as it does. It just shows Sanchez is at his best average.

Sanchez was never going to be the answer to their QB problems because he turns it over too much and makes dumb decisions. The reason they were successful as much as they were the first two years under Ryan was because of the defense, not Sanchez. Once their defense started to get old and worsen, so did the Jets record, unsurprisingly. The guy struggles to be in the top half of QBs on a good day. He's certainly not one of the first 20 or possibly 25 guys I'd want for one season as of now. Just hasn't shown the potential to carry an offense the way I'd want a QB to.

Why do you make it sound like it's impossible to come back from an injury when the two years were his first two years with a serious injury during any time as a football player?

And I don't think you want to bother bringing up the Stafford/Sanchez. Sanchez is benched and, by all measures, his time as 'the' guy for the Jets is done. Stafford has thrown for over 9000 yards over the past two years and is clearly in good standing with the Lions franchise. Over a larger sample size we've been given it's clear who was the better QB of the class.

One of my favorite days on the sports calendar. MLB Hall of Fame announcement. Too bad so many stubborn writers are going to ruin it.

Exactly. And the fact that the media is throwing Mike Piazza in the boat with Clemens and Bonds is pathetic. There has never been one iota of proof or even evidence to say that he used PEDs.

Piazza should be an easy candidate for the hall and it's going to be a close call, and that's sad.

Fucking pathetic.

Nobody was elected. Biggio (a legend with zero steroid allegations) got 67%, needed 39 more votes.

Fuck Cooperstown.

I've never gotten the mentality of "well, they're a HOF'er but not a first ballot one. We'll wait another few years and then let them in." You're either a Hall of Fame player or you're not. Why should an extra three years change that?

Biggio should have definitely been in this year and I thought Piazza deserved to get in as well. I was also hoping to see Jack Morris get in because he only has one year left after this and next year he has to deal with Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine on the ballot.

Exactly. And I don't get the highest percentage of votes stuff either. You know who has the record? Tom Seaver. Tom Seaver was amazing, and an easy "first ballot HOFer" for those who believe in it, but seriously, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, etc all got lower percentages? And I don't even think all of them got in on the first try.

I can understand not voting for the steroid guys right away if they use the guise of wanting more time to understand what happened in the era, but the first ballot nonsense is sad.

Biggio will most likely get in next year (he'll have enough "don't get in first year" people who will vote for him). I hope Glavine and Maddox get in too, but who knows now.

I just can't take the BBWA seriously anymore. Nobody gets into the hall? Really? REALLY?
This is like the 8th time it has happened. Last time it happened was 1996. It's not unheard of.

I'm surprised Kenny Lofton only got 3%, and is thus off the ballot (5% needed to stay on). Bernie Williams fell off the ballot too after staying on last year. Lofton should have stayed on the ballot longer, and had a case made to even get in.

Not surprised but complete crap that no one got in. I thought Biggio would make it but knowing how some of these writers think I'm not shocked. Biggio will likely get in next year, two years at the latest. Piazza will get in eventually. Bonds and Clemens will take a while but I think they will evetually make it too. Sosa's not looking good at all.

I'm surprised Morris didn't move up at all. I'm not sure he belongs in but I thought he would move up. Not a good sign for him that he didn't get more support in a year where people expected no one else to get in and as mentioned above Maddux and Glavine are on the ballot next year along with Mussina.

I don't know what everyone has against Fred McGriff. Only 20% on his fourth year? I think he should be in the hall so I'm shocked that he gets such little support.
