Garza to the Cubs! I haven't heard any details yet but I've always liked Garza. I have to see who we gave up before I can say great move but I'm happy to have Garza.

The Devils fucked up royally by giving Rolston the contract they did. He is easily the worst player on the Devils this season, and he's so bad and so overpriced that nobody will take him. The Devils need to get younger quickly. I hate to say it, because I love Patty, but the time to deal Elias may be upon the Devils by the trade deadline.

Really? you think the 4 yr., $20 mil. contract Rolston got was worse than the 17 yr. $102 mil. deal you gave Kovie, granted the no trade clause in the Rolston contract was kinda stupid, cause now he play like shit and you can't do a fucking thing about it, except what has already been done, but how the fuck do you move a guy who has a 17 yr. $102 mil?!?, that was just horriable business by Devils management, you ask me after the way they mis-handled the cap this year you may really want to look at firing the GM

Also Praise is the best young player on the Devils right now, if they are forced to let him go it will be a big hit to this team, they really need to get rid of all the older guys, and try and keep what young talent they currently have, and get as many young players or draft picks as possiable for all to moldy oldies they have on their team, so they can clear up cap space and build for the future

and Rangers can eat nuts...

What did they give up?

Hopefully they dont have to. He's the kind of player that I can see putting up even at least 20 goals towards the end of his contract.

I just watched an interesting countdown on MLB Network, which was counting down the top 10 first basemen. They were playing it as, if you wanted to start a team with one first basemen, who would it be. Their list was as follows:

10. Kendry Morales - Anaheim
9. Justin Morneau - Minnesota
8. Paul Konerko - Chicago
7. Prince Fielder - Milwaukee
6. Ryan Howard - Philadelphia
5. Mark Texeira - New York
4. Joey Votto - Cincinnati
3. Adrian Gonzalez - Boston
2. Miguel Cabrera - Detroit
1. Albert Pujols - St. Louis

No surprise to me, really, on the top. Pujols will be #1 for a while, although Cabrera seems to be inching closer to Pujols territory. I thought Konerko might've deserved to be a little bit higher, but that's about it.

Do you guys see any problems with this list, or do you think MLB Network (who I believed were the ones to decide the list) got it wrong somewhere?

After the whole debacle on here when Gonzalez was traded, I laughed at that Top 5 for a reason the rest of you know.

Nice to see Konerko getting into the Top 10 after last season.

I just found out they gave up five minor league players. The only one with major league experience is OF Sam Fuld. No big loss. I'm not familiar with the others. I heard it was an eight player trade so there may be more names involved.

they gave up soooo freking much for Matt Garza. Leave it to Jim Hendry to trade their minr league pitcher of the year and player of the year. Plus their future shortstop all for a middle of the road pitcher with a deent upside

Hak-Ju Lee is their future shortstop?

Otherwise agreed.

Jamie Langenbrunner got dealt to the Stars for a conditional draft pick. I don't know why they went with a conditional draft pick when they could have gotten two from the Flyers, but I guess they didn't want to send him to another team in the division (even though the Devils have no chance at making the playoffs this year and Jamie's contract is up in July).

Jamie's going home to the team that we got him from in 02.

Lou has never made a trade with the Flyers or the Rangers, so he just following tradition. The pick will most likely end up being a second round pick, which is exactly what I expected we would get in return. Its not a bad move considering you are getting a good pick while freeing up some cap space and getting rid of someone who has clashed with the coach before.

When in doubt, overpay, or at least that's what Hendry seems to think

The Cubs think Castro is their SS of the future. After years of hearing hype for guys like Corey Patterson, Felix Pie, Roosevelt Brown, Bobby Hill, among many others I don't mind giving up some prospects for Garza. Dempster was the only guy they could count on in the rotation. Garza fills a major need. I think he has a big upside. I've been a fan of his since he came up with Minnesota. He is under contract for the next few years so I'm ok with this move.

jets beat colts.....stormtrooper must be happy. I find it interesting that I saw some 49er fans calling peyton manning coming there.

I waited ALL DAMN DAY to watch the national title game, but alas, I FUCKING FELL ASLEEP. I was sick all weekend w/the stomach flu, which is probably the reason I couldn't keep my eyes open, but damn, did I wake up dissapointed. Probably the first title game I've missed in at least 15 yrs.

Damn. It was a pretty sloppy game so even though the score was really close it wasn't as much of a classic as you may think. Still a great game.

Yeah, I heard it started pretty rough and didn't get much better. Still it's the fucking title game, wouldn't have wanted to miss it if the the score was 3-0. I guess as long as the under came in, I'm a happy camper.

Calvin McGee is Pitt's new Offensive Coordinator... I love Graham's interview. "We want to be a physical football team. Can't be physical with four wide receivers"

"We are not a spread team, we are a huddle offense. This system has had a 5000 yd passer, 4000 yd passer, 1000 yd rusher,1000 yd receivers.."

There's been a few polls done by radio stations that say 85% of the Pittsburgh population wanted to see Tom Bradley. Not sure what to make of that. I wouldn't have been mad, but not overly excited either. I think Graham was a pretty good choice, certainly better than Mike freaking Haywood, and at least as good as Bradley would've been.
