No one cares about the Pro Bowl. All Pro teams are the ones that matter. So what if Brees was selected over Rodgers for one year, even if he was slightly less of a player. Rodgers will get in if any of the first 3 bow out or make the SB, or if he makes the SB himself he won't be playing anyways.

And a new thread up after the most recent game at Yankee Stadium today.

I've already stated it's not a big deal but when people keep giving bull shit reasons for why Brees was picked over Rodgers I'm going to dispute them.

How about the second half of the Lions game when Flynn played like shit and was the reason the Packers lost? You know damn well the Patriots played down to their competition because they did not see Flynn as a threat. Remember this is the same Patriots team that lost to the Cleveland Browns. Rodgers is arguably just as important to the Packer as Brees is to the Saints, but again this is the Pro Bowl not the MVP award, value to your team isn't what makes you a pro bowler.
you're right. Being a STAR gets you on the All-STAR team. These are All-STAR teams, not All-"having a great year" teams."

Brees is a STAR. Rodgers is an excellent player having an excellent year. He'll be a star eventually, if he can keep up the work and actually win something. Then he'll get his Pro Bowls (and there'll be someone else who deserves it over him and people will bitch again).

And Mega, great thread, if I wasn't going to bed I'd post in it now. Alas, it'll have to wait until Friday.

Aaron Rodgers started in the pro bowl last year so by your definition he's already a star. The Pro Bowl is the all star game in sports where fans have the least amount of power. It is about THIS year to everyone but the fans. If that wasn't the case then guys like Jamal Charles wouldn't be in the pro bowl and someone like Chris Johnson would be there instead. There are tons of first time pro bowlers this year and I guarantee not all of them are stars.

umm, they're the Atlanta Thrashers. They were started in 1999. Expansion team in Atlanta, some 18 years after the Flames ditched ATL for Calgary.

See I knew about the Flames moving to Calgary but I had no fucking idea who the Trashers were, have they never made any noise or something?

Them and the Columbus (Colorado?) Blue Jackets, who the fuck

16 team sports "mini-tourney" starts on Saturday. It will determine the best basketball team in your eyes. For example: '97 Bulls vs '55 Celtics and so on. If you want to get some teams in PM me.

I'm not high of knowledge on basketball, but surely you aren't going to have all 6 of the Jordan-Bulls teams and the 3-Peat Lakers in the early part of the 00's, are you?

One of the Bad Boy Piston teams HAS to be in it. Either 88-89 Pistons or 89-90 Pistons. I'd also like the 2003-2004 Pistons but them being left out wouldn't be horrible.

Not much of the basketball man, but the only team I'd nominate would be Fo-Fo-Fo Sixers of the 1982-83 season. 65-17 in the regular season, lost one playoff game to the Bucks (the Fo-Fo-Fo nickname came from Moses Malone (I believe) who predicted they'd sweep their way through the playoffs). Julius Irving, Moses Malone, Mo Cheeks, Andrew Toney, and Bobby Jones were all solid players and Billy Cunningham was a great coach. Would be a shame if they didn't make it.

Definitely.

Jazz were nasty in NBA Jam up until the harder teams like the Knicks who'd just beat the piss out of Stockton and then Hornacek, and I forget which NBA Live game I used those 5 exclusively

The best Magic/Kareem team was the 86-87 team. The 82-83 Sixers have to get in and the Knicks team you want is the 69-70 team. There are too many great teams to have a non title winning team in the tournament so the Jazz wouldn't be a good choice.

1 playoff appearance (won the division in 2006-2007 only to be eliminated in the first round). Other then that they've been on the outside of the playoffs looking in.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are a 2000 expansion team that has only 1 playoff appearance (2008-2009 7-seed, 1st round elimination via sweep).

Oh, and I noticed the 1969 Knicks are in this B-Ball tourney. Is there a 90's Knicks team, or is it just championship teams. Stupid Jordan kept them from winning a championship in the 90's.
