The Sports Bar

Brad Smith not being the AFC return man is a sham. So is Logan "I sat out for 2 months and still made the Pro Bowl) over Branfon Moore (or anyone else for that matter).

I can't get on the QB "snubs" because it's not like the other guys didn't deserve it.

Also, I don't understand how the Pro Bowl rosters only have 2 Middle/Inside Linebackers, when a very high percentage ofthe league plays a 3-4 D with 2 ILBs. Is it all that hard to add an extra ILB to each roaster?

I still say that at the least Rodgers deserves in over Brees. Brees had more yards and td's but that can all be contributed to the fact that he threw almost 200 more passes then Rodgers and even with that his numbers in those categories weren't a ton better. Brees also was second in the league in interceptions with 21, Rodgers only threw 10. Rodgers also had a qb rating about 10 points higher and a higher yards per attempt average.

Bree's won a SB though, I think that sways some votes his way, that and fans voted for who they wanted in the PB, more people saw Brees play this year and know who he is than Rodgers

I could really care less, it's a meaningless game that I never watch anyways

Goodell handed Brett Favre a really severe punishment. I was shocked.

$50,000.

And it's not for taking a picture of his penis and sending it to a Jets employee. It's for not cooperating with the NFL in their investigation.

The best part of it all? He makes $11,000 and change every game minute. Thus he'll pay the fine off in 4.5 minutes.

Brees also had 5 game winning drives this season. Rogers? None. That counts a lot, man. Don't overlook it.

4 of them were against Minnesota, San Francisco, Dallas, and Cincy. Those are all games they shouldn't have needed a game winning drive.

Rodgers didn't have any game winning drives but he did have a couple game tying drives against the Dolphins and Falcons, the defense just let him down in those games. The game winning drives are nice but most of the time Rodgers didn't need to bring the team back because they were either blowing out their opponents or they got out to a big lead and then fended off late comeback attempts from the other team.

Brees definitely had a good season and would be the first alternate for me, I just think Rodgers had a slightly better year overall.

Where's Mark Sanchez then? He had GWDs in 4 consecutive wins, against Denver, Detroit, Cleveland, and Houston (which was one of the most impressive Game Winning Drives all season). Yeah, I'm not at all saying he belongs there, just saying that Game Winning Drives amount to fuck all for the Pro Bowl (unless you want them to mean something, which then means Marky Mark Sanchez needs to be in too).

One big thing nobody is counting here. Who votes on the Pro Bowl? FANS. FANS want to see Drew Brees, because Drew Brees is Drew Brees. Fans didn't pick Aaron Rodgers, because Aaron Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers, and not Drew Brees. Oh, and Brees played every game this year and has his team already clinching a playoff berth. Rodgers is fighting for a playoff spot. Hence Brees>Rodgers for pro bowl voting.

Fans only count for a third of the vote. Coaches and players are the other parts of the equation.
yes, and the 1/3 likely is what put Brees over Rodgers. Brees and Rodgers had similar years (Yes, Rodgers might have been somewhat better), but Brees is the reigning Super Bowl MVP on a very very very good Saints team. Rodgers is on a 1 and done playoff team from the year before struggling to make the playoffs in 2010. Hence Brees > Rodgers. It's pretty cut and dry.

Today so far has had a good string of bowl games. SMU/Army was ugly early but got pretty entertaining in the 4th quarter.

But yeah, UNC/UT, KSU/SU, and Mizzou/Iowa have been the best games so far. All close and highly entralling. Hell even FIU/Toledo wasn't too bad (for what I watched of it).

I don't mind the bowls like some people do. Yes, a playoff would be better, but I find no bad reason to see these lower teams (your Washingtons and Syracuses and North Carolinas) to not get a final game against an OOC opponent, since we see so little during the season anyways.

The Pro Bowl is not the MVP award. Winning isn't always something that should be included especially when the totals are fairly close like with the Packers and Saints. The Pro Bowl is about getting the best players from that particular year. Rodgers has had a better season then Brees and the numbers prove it.

I agree. I love bowl games. Gives you a chance to watch the teams you don't get to see very often. In a perfect world we'd get a playoff of 4-8 teams and then give the rest bowl games. I think that would be the best way to fix it.

It's the Pro Bowl. Is it really that big of a deal, since Vick, Brees, or Ryan will (more then likely) be playing in the SB anyways, giving Rodgers that spot. Or the Packers could make it to the SB so he wouldn't be playing in the game anyways.

Bickering about the most meaningless game in sports (including preseason) doesn't make much sense.

And the UConn women's basketball team was just defeated by Stanford. Knew it would come to an end eventually and Stanford definitely had the best chance to do so.

And the numbers show the fans wanted to see Brees more then Rodgers. The game is an exhibition for the fans. The fans voted for Bees. Hence the numbers actually being in Brees' favor.

And take into account the game Rodgers missed. The Packers nearly defeated the New England Patriots (the best team in the NFL). Take Brees off of the Saints, and I'd highly doubt they play anywhere near the production the Pack got out of Rodgers replacement.

Change of topic, because really, who gives a flying shit about the Pro Bowl?

Tennessee/UNC, best bowl game thus far. Excellent, fun, back and forth bowl. Hell the KSU/Cuse game could give it a run.
I watched a bi of the KSU/Cuse game (caught the last 3 game minutes). Sadly, the NCAA Rulebook fucked over KSU. He broke the letter of the law no doubt, but to penalize a player for such a minimal gesture at such a key point of the game (effectively killing KSU's chances at tying the contest) isn't cool. Still, what I saw was a great contest, and an excellent start (continuation) to a wonderful tradition of College Bowl Games at Yankee Stadium. Watching the Cuse players run into the snow after the game to celebrate with the fans (might have been during the ESPN3.com trophy presentation, not sure) was a pretty neat sight.

The KSU player getting a penalty for a salute but Tennessee's QB not getting a penalty for the taunting he was doing after their TD's was complete bullshit.

Although I don't mind, since I picked Syracuse to win :D.

Jake Locker went down with what seems to be a head injury. Hopefully he is alright and able to return as this is his final game. He put his helmet back on on the sidelines, but who knows if he'll be back.

How about the second half of the Lions game when Flynn played like shit and was the reason the Packers lost? You know damn well the Patriots played down to their competition because they did not see Flynn as a threat. Remember this is the same Patriots team that lost to the Cleveland Browns. Rodgers is arguably just as important to the Packer as Brees is to the Saints, but again this is the Pro Bowl not the MVP award, value to your team isn't what makes you a pro bowler.
