The thing about Berkman joining the Cardinals lineup is that he isn't the player he used to be. I was stoked when the Yankees traded for him last year because I was thinking he was going to be the same Big Puma that carried the Astros' offense. But he wasnt.

He's still a productive player. His problem was that he's not a bench guy, and he was forced to be. In the NL he'll be starting again. That'll help him big-time.
Great pickup by the Cards. And this is big for Fantasy, since Berkman will be playing Left Field now (I heard they were moving Holliday to Right). That'll give him outfield eligibility as well as First Base.

God, the Big East is horrible in football. A middle of the road Big Ten team like Michigan who went 7-5, would win 10 games and go to a BCS game in that conference. In fact Michigan blew out BCS Bowl bound UConn 30-10 in the first week of the season.
The best part is that Temple, who is in the MAC, had the same record as UConn at 8-4 AND they beat UConn 30-16 earlier this season. The Huskies are headed to the Fiesta Bowl and Temple didn't even make it to a bowl game. Temple's only losses were to Penn State and the top 3 teams in the MAC.

So why isn't Temple or Western Michigan going to a bowl game again?
Western doesn't really deserve to go. They only finished 6-6 and coming from the MAC that really isn't good enough even though they are eligible.
However, Temple should definitely be going. I realize there are only a certain number of bowl games and not every team eligible can go every year but this is a team that went 8-4 and beat BCS Bowl bound UConn. There only losses on the season came to Penn State and the top 3 teams in the MAC.
It's all about the money. Temple doesn't travel that well so less deserving teams like Louisville, BYU, and Florida International get to go instead

The Military Bowl is being held in Washington D.C. which is only a 3 hour drive from Temple.
I just think the bowl selection committee should automatically award bowl games to teams with winning records first but I guess they don't want the teams playing in cold weather places as well.
For 2010 the Military Bowl signed an agreement with Conference USA to have it be C USA vs ACC as long as both conferences had enough Bowl eligible teams.

I expected him to get fired at the end of the season because since his 6-0 start last year, he's gone 5-17 since which makes you think about the Belichick coaching tree a little bit harder.

The Veterans committee voted in Pat Gillick (well deserved), but failed to bring in 1 person who has deserved to get in the Hall of Fame for over a decade. From 1966 to 1982, Marvin Miller was the head of the MLB Players Union. He is widely regarded as the man who started Free Agency, and ended the rather unfail reserve clause, which forced players to stay with their former teams, regardless of how much they paid. Sadly, it will be another 3 years, and the chances of him living to be inducted is slimmer and slimmer. Bad job by the Legends Committee.

I actually like the Orioles. They finished strong last year (like 11 games over .500 in 50 games) and could make a strong push at 3rd in the division (which is impressive considering it's the Orioles.)
