The Respect Angle

Getting Noticed By Management
Did I hear The Miz, Michael Cole, and Matt Striker mention the word respect? Why on God's green earth do people who haven't done anything to earn a lick of respect always talk about it? I've said it before, the only guys on the first season that had any reason to demand respect were Jericho and Punk who've both had multiple title reigns in the WWE, :worship:Regal who just deserves it, the rest of the guys like Christian and R-Truth who were pretty decorated in their own rights were pretty much cool. Take Miz and Daniel Bryan, first, Bryan is much more decorated than the Miz. The only thing Miz has on Bryan is that fact that he was in WWE and, to top it off, he came at Daniel Bryan first so why should he respect him especially after he slapped him. After that, my only thoughts would be stomp this motherfucker out right here, what the fuck is wrong with him? You don't slap a man even when they used it to challenge someone to a duel, they would have a gun fight after that, somebody had to go. I'm just sick of pro wrestling using the respect angle when it comes to young guys, it's old and cliche so my question is why do they still use it and with the wrong guys?

I don't see the problem here, everybody who contributes to a product, a company or a business in any manner should deserve respect, even if it's one more than the other.

The Miz, Cole and Striker deserves respect just as anybody else, while they don't deserve the same amount of respect as someone like Shawn Michaels, Undertaker or Triple H, they still deserve it, and that puts them in their full position to mention the word.

It's not about being in the business longer, it's not about having more championships under their name, because while it gives more respect from the WWE crowd, it doesn't make them so superior that they can walk around and act as if respect were only for people who's above them.

They still use it, because it's a general term and because it's what it's all about, even if Bryan Danielson has accomplished more in the business, The Miz has accomplished more in WWE, both should respect each other.

The usage of the word on-screen also generates heat, or generates a pop all depending on the person who throws the word around, backstage it's all about acknowledging what people contribute to the business, while some might walk around needing to earn respect in some people's eyes, they still deserve it, if not as much.

Undertaker talks a lot about people "earning his respect" to the likes of Jeff Hardy and Triple H, it's not about the respect as a whole that they don't deserve it cause they haven't earned it, it's again all about what pair of eyes that looks upon the situation.

I think this is a valid point. The whole respect issue is universal and pretty much follows every professional wrestling promotion. Everybody wants respect and they'll beat the holy hell out of everyone that doesn't give it to them in whatever form they want it. There are many who have earned respect, that is true, and there are many who want it regardless.

Now it's true that most of those who get respect and deserve respect don't tend to demand it. They just get it. Whereas most of those who don't deserve respect and don't get it are the type to demand it. This pretty much just plays up the hypocritical angle, which is nothing new. After all, there are few things more annoying than someone who doesn't deserve respect pissing and moaning that he doesn't get it. You just want to slap him around...which is eventually what does happen to him and that makes it all the more satisfying.

I see this as pretty much a verbal way of drawing heat...and it's sometimes funny as hell to watch someone like Jericho or The Miz throwing a tantrum and pouting at the camera about how nobody respects them.
