The Remarkable 80's Bar and Grill

Had a dream last night I was IN Dark Souls 2. I went down to my corner store to see if they had a Pyromancer Glove. I didn't have enough Souls to buy it, when I killed enough small animals around the store to get it, somebody else already bought it.

The game is starting to consume my brain, stupid video games.

I know the feeling, Jeff. I'm just outside the last area in Dark Souls 3 at the moment and my god it's messing with my head so much. Have you played dark souls 1?

Yes, I restarted it as a Sorcerer and having a much easier time. Preparing to take down the Bell Gargoyle at the top of the dead church. The tough part is all the strong enemies right before him. I'm not even trying the skeleton area until I'm level 60. I really, really, really hate those skeletons.

I feel that I've barely scratched the surface of both games. I'm level 61 in Dark Souls 2 with almost even strength and magic (perfect balance) but can't find the damn Pyromancer Glove, after looking for help online, I found out it's behind The Dragonrider, a boss I had down to nothing twice and got caught with a swipe and died. I still have about 5 to 8 areas to unlock.

The skeletons in the graveyard just above firelink? You have made a wise decision leaving that until later hahaha.
I've gone through to the last stages of 1 so many times but I've never ended up beating it. I'm honestly surprised that I'm this far into 3, it's the first time I've actually stuck to constantly being in the ember state (3s version of reversing hollowing) and I forgot how much it makes the game easier when you have a sneaky 300 more hp. Does make it a bit frustrating when you walk into an area that you have no idea is the pvp hotspot and you get murdered before you can bring out the sword that's 2x the size of your character that you save for these situations, but it's still fun. Mowed down some of the bosses most people have considered hard, but that ego boost has been crushed by the one I'm at right now :'(

Going by my level of 80 and being 2 bosses away from the end id say you're going to be fine for the rest of the game. Dark souls is weird though, it likes to get you around halfway into the game before you realise "ohhhhh I spent all my early levels in strength, but if I had my health stat at 20-25 early on I'd be almost unkillable" and you restart and get back to where you are in less than a day :p

I agree, my last three level ups have been for HP only. My strength and magic bonus are close to 25 and I looked at my HP sitting at level 8. lol. Have to get that sucker in the high teens. ( Dark Souls 2) The thing I really hate about Dark Souls 2 compared to Dark Souls is how much the game punishes you for getting killed. DS2 will start reducing your HP bar while you get hallowed until you start out with half HP eventually. Humanity spells are not cheap plus they are not easy to find outside the merchant who only carries 3 at 6000 souls a pop. Thankfully there is an excellent soul gathering spot outside The Dragonrider area, with tough enemies that are easy to beat if you stand right close to them.

That's a negative.

Such an under-rated gem. That was an RPG where you used your Health Points to cast spells, and there was no such thing as MP. One of my favorites but also one you never hear about anymore outside of oldschool fans who were into some of the more obscure titles.

(Dark Souls Xbox 360). I want this dragon ring that costs 20000 souls. After travelling all over the place I finally gather 19000 souls. Then I stumble into a giant boss fight with a butterfly the size of a building. Alas, I die. Severely pissed off I go and press A near a bonfire after
respawning causing my guy to rest at a bonfire, effectively erasing my chance to pick up my 19000 souls I saved up and dropped next to the giant butterfly. If I was a violent man, I'd be digging my leg out of the television right now.

2 things:
1) the souls you drop don't disappear until you die, you can go do half the game and then come back and pick them up as long as you don't die.

2) No one ever suspects the butterfly... ...to be a boss you shouldn't beat right now, but if you really want to beat it I'll tell ya how to do it lickedy split. Dark Souls may or may not be my life.

No way for 1). I ran back hoping with all my might that those souls would still be there after the butterfly zapped me to death and I rested at the bonfire after I respawned. They weren't there and he killed me again.

2). I was kicking so much ass with my three different soul arrows, Great, Heavy and regular that I blew past that mini-boss that shoots electric balls at you, tore through the tree enemies and the knights that wake up in the woods that I just said, I might as well keep plowing forward. I shoulda never went in there to fight him.

Ahh so the butterfly killed you again, that'll do it. The bloodstain isn't exactly where you die btw, it's usually a 3-4 second time delay (think the bloodstains of other people that you see scattered throughout the place) but I'm like a thousand percent sure that resting at bonfires doesn't make it go away

Yeah that place does tend to suck people into it since it is rather easy to cheese demon just past the blacksmith, plus there's a whole bunch of stuff that you can do there. A good way to know when you should be hanging around that area is when you're a high enough level that the 20000 souls you wanted earlier don't seem like that many. I take it you beat the gargoyle and rang the bell? The place the game wants you to go next is a door that was previously locked just after the Tauren demon but before the dragon that you run past. It's very very vague about that and I doubt many people figure it out without looking it up.

It's funny, once I got more powerful spells the plan was to go up and fight the Bell Gargoyle. I was in the middle of collecting the 20000 souls so I decided at the last minute to turn in a different direction in case he killed me again. So I ended up finding an elevator lift that connects you to Firelink, then I found the blacksmith in the basement, the locked gate with the mumbling guy telling me it's locked, then the woods, then asshole giant butterfly.

Yeah at the stage you are right now I'd side with forgetting the whole darkroot garden. You don't want to know what's on the other side of that 20000 soul door right now anyway. Do you hang around as a human much? There's a certain sun you can get to join you for the gargoyle fight when in that state.

I summoned a guy for the second last boss of dark souls 3 and he did nothing but lie on the floor. Sunbro my ass.

I don't know anything about Dark Souls but that butterfly boss sounds awesome.

Once you get into Dark Souls and make actual progress, it becomes addicting. When I first played Dark Souls, I couldn't get past these very, very tough skeletons that keep regenerating themselves everytime you hit them, I said screw this and the game sat on the shelf for awhile. Then picking it back up, I found a staircase on the side of a hill that for some reason I kept missing, it opened the entire game up from there. I'd recommend sorcerer if you ever play it. But you can always rack up souls to level up any part of your character so it doesn't matter much. Boss fights in Dark Soul games are one of the most satisfying in all of gaming. When you drop a boss, you really feel like you've accomplished something. Not an easy series.

I have the mentality that I should save my human form for boss fights so I kind of play mostly hallowed. I've gone from up close warrior fighting to ranged magic fighter, magic is the way to go for me. I feel there's still tons of places to go in both games.

And I don't even know the ABC of these games!

It's really not for everyone. I hated it at first. You die constantly and for a hundred different reasons. I've rolled off a cliff in the heat of battle enough times to make my own comedy channel. I stayed up until 4:45 AM the other night just leveling up my characters strength and HP stats. The weapons, magic, armor and items seem endless. Plus, once in awhile, some jackass who's also playing the same game, will invade YOUR game with the goal of tracking YOU down like you were the final boss. Every time I'm amazed at what these invading jerks have for weapons or magic.

Should I put Dark Souls on the Top of my Gamefly Q? I have 1 & 2 in there somewhere just nowhere near the top

It all depends if you like those kinds of games. Very punishing and super time consuming. But once you are deep in the rabbit hole, you keep wanting to see what's around the next corner.

Hey, what is your dream WZCW match?

Remarkable Mark Keaton Vs. ??? at ??? :suspic:

I don't really have one yet. The character is still fairly new to me. Having a title belt this early was unexpected, but I have a great tag team partner so it's hard to gauge if Keaton can even win a match once he's a singles competitor. I'd like to try a feud with Daggershield far down the road, maybe next season sometime. Seeing how he's technically the John Cena of WZCW.
