The RAW Bowl

Does anybody remember the RAW bowl from back in the day? On the first RAW of the new year of 1996. Where four tag teams would compete in an elimination style fatal four way tag team match to get a future shot at the WWF tag team titles.

The teams consisted of the Smoking Guns, Razor Ramon (Scott Hall) & Savio Vega, The 1-2-3 Kid (Sean Waltman) & Psycho Sid, and Owen Hart & Yokozuna (may they R.I.P.). The rules went that each team could have up to three timeouts. The concept of the match was a spin-off of pro & college football games that would be played on new years day.

But next year RAW will be on Jan. 2nd 2012. But should the RAW bowl be brought back for WWE throwback sake? Since the WWE are already making money off WWE legends & hall of famers.

no please no!.. i did think the "old school RAW" was a good idea, with the less creative entrance way & old logos.. bring back Mean Gene to interview each face or heel backstage before their match then have stryker or the other kid interview the other guy.. then maybe a promo on the screen in the corner quickly during matches that makes sense... all these things would move forward storylines while giving an old school feel to the show..

I remember RAW Bowl, I still have it on tape (on VHS too so I could watch it still easily, not BETA like a lot of my REALLY old wrestling tapes, I'd have to dig out the BETA VCR from storage for that). It wasn't anything special though really.

Sure.... name four tag teams...

...oh and since its for a shot at the titles don't mention air boom.

I guess since the original one was a bunch of singles wrestlers put together for the tournament, it might be a good way to create a few new teams. Maybe I'm just being cynical. Fuck it, bring on the Raw bowl!!!!
