The Online Late at Night Thread

Just meant the beginning. They're a lot different, though.

You can hear the Southern roots of their music, but they got a complete different sound then what I'm used to from the South. I haven't given their new album a full spin yet but I'm planning to do a review on it.

Ive been watching Psych in terms of TV shows, despite the fact Ive seen them all already. As for newer shows I started watching Parks and Recreations. Nothing great, but good for a good chuckle here and there. Format is much like The Office.

For movies, since you are a movie buff, lets see. I've watched the RVD/Batista movie (forget the name), but it was much better than I expected (though thats not saying much as I thought it would be shit). I really enjoyed Operation: Endgame with Zach Galifinaikis and a bunch of other people. Good action comedy. So I'd say go with that.

What type of stuff do you like Indy? The possibilities are endless.

I literally watch everything. But I would not be in the mood for a romance or comedy movie. I am thinking something in the horror genre and since Fearnet hasn't reset their movies yet I am going to rely on Netflix.

Shoot me a PM when the review goes up, I want to read it. Might get the album.

I've been hooked on Andre Nickatina lately.

I wasn't big on Operation: Endgame. Mildly entertaining but drug on. The RVD/Batista movie could be good for some laughs, maybe that's what I will go with. I think it's called Wrong Side of Town? Or something like that.

Ty, are you a fan of real instruments in beats, or more synth, bass type of stuff?

It all depends, real instruments brings a more raw sound to it, but it has to be set up properly with the samples a producer would use. Ant from Atmosphere uses a lot of real instrumentals in his tracks such as this:

At the same time using more electronic style instrumentals can be done well as well. I'm not a fan of all the pseudo techno beats used for most club hits nowadays, but then you have something like this:

Which when mixed properly is just a straight dope beat.

Atmosphere <3

Actually I forgot that Atmosphere song was basically just acoustic guitar. Here's a better representative for what I was talking about:

If I had to choose one style over the other, I'd go with the real instrumentals.

The have Evil Dead if you're in the mood for a classic.

That post is pure truth, Ty. Although I'm not a big Atmosphere fan.

Seriously? Dude Atmosphere is easily one of the best independent hip hop groups out there, and Slug is one of my all time favorite lyricists. And that's not even going over the flow he has on a track.

What are your thoughts on Canibus? I thought he could have been an all-time great, straight up raw flow.

Canibus is straight fire on the mic, it's a shame he never got the recognition he deserves. If I remember correctly, him and Chino XL were gonna be working on an album together. Don't know if it was ever completed but man both can just go off on a mic.

Oh, The Warriors is on instant queue, that's always a good watch. Also, LOTR is on there, I might check that out tonight even though I've seen it about 20 times.

god damn, too much rep given out today. otherwise all yall would be getting rep for the "atmopshere" love goin round. slug is great.

True, true. Poet Laureate, any of them, "C" of Tranquility, Horsementality, 100 Bars, 2000 B.C., Lost at "C", all sick songs.

The Warriors is a brilliant film. Definitely a favorite of mine. Not a big LOTR fan though. I never understood all of the hype for those movies.
