The More Wrestling Succeeds, the Happier We'll Be

..Except I am constantly reading comments about how TNA sucks or WWE sucks. Some wrestling fans seem hell bent on pledging allegiance to one wrestling company over all others. Why is this? I stopped watching Ring of Honor when they moved to Sinclair Broadcasting, but I still hope they are successful.

Wrestling companies are not sports teams, the success of TNA/WWE are totally independent variables. So why do fans feel the need to choose one over the other? The Monday Night Wars are not coming back anytime soon, and the victory party for WWE/WWF fans did not last long before most people with common sense realized, "oh shit. Not being able to flip to Nitro sucks.

Hoping for a wrestling company to go out of business only hurts the wrestling business. So, will someone explain to me why so many fans insist on choosing one company over another? I find it insipid.

Brand loyalty is how new number 2 promotions come about. Every wrestling promotion in modern days has had a rabid, loyal fan base carry it to greater success. Wrestling is a business, and it's not up to fans to support it just for existing, but for the company creating the product to make a strong one that sells.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I did not say, nor did I mean to imply that a wrestling company should be supported by a fan base just because it exists. Hell, one could easily make the case that neither Impact nor ROH are a viable number two right now.

That is not what I intended to discuss, rather I am wondering why brand loyalty, which I credit you for pointing out, causes some fans to be blindly loyal to one wrestling company over another.

The fact is, if WWE closed its doors tomorrow, the wrestling business as a whole would suffer. When WCW closed its doors, the WWE product suffered as a result. The wrestling business needs competition. I wish WWE, Impact, and ROH were all viable entities. I do not understand why many fans waste time arguing over which one sucks.

Look at the comments section. Only a matter of time before every new article devolves into a WWE vs TNA fanboy battle.

As fans, we need as many promotions as possible to be successful so that competition is created again.

Ah hell, WWE has such a stranglehold on the wrestling business that it will never happen.

I have created a waste of a thread. All apologies.
