The Legend Killer vs The Viper

Don't take this too personally, but you are among several wrestling fans on the IWC that need to hear this.

RANDY ORTON IS NEVER GOING TO GET A CLEAN WIN OVER TRIPLE H WHILE ORTON IS A HEEL AND TRIPLE H IS A FACE.

If you look at wrestling history, there are only a handful of times when a heel gets a CLEAN win over a HUGE babyface. For instance:
WM VI WARRIROR beats Hogan
WM XXI Kurt Angle beats HBK
BACKLASH The Great Khali beat The Undertaker
And all the times HHH beat HBK from 2002-2004 don't count b/c it was Triple H lol. I can't think of any other instances, please feel free to correct me. OH and WM XIX Trips vs Booker T doesn't count either because of Ric Flair :)

It is simply how the wrestling business works. Heels have to cheat to win!!! Thats why people hate them, because they cheat!!!!!! I'm not going to explain the concept of babyfaces vs heels to you, I assume you already know that.

You deserve a medal for proving that some people on here are actually quite intelligent.

And generally, Triple H needed some form of gimmick match to beat HBK in 2002. Cage, Cell, Sledgehammer... you name it.

To reiterate everyone else. Orton is not Stone Cold version 2. Noone has even considered making that happen.

Something I don't understand... since when has the word 'Killer' been not suitable for younger viewers? Children are very very awar of death and how murder happens. They do not burst into tears or stay awake at night whenever they hear words such as Dead, Died or Murdered.

The PG concept is pretty much focused on swearing. Anything stronger than Ass is now frowned upon... and Ass is only to be used at extreme moments.

What I took to be the most obvious reason the Legend Killer name is no longer used (clearly, it wasn't so obvious) was that he hasn't killed a legend in quite some time. I've quickly scanned Wikipedia for this and it seems the last victim was Sgt. Slaughter in March 2007. That's over 2 years ago now. It's now irrelevant.

Orton has just gone through a gimmick change and like usual, most people expect a change of image when a gimmick change happens but so many other wrestlers have done the same thing. Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Kane, Edge. The only real change of image I can think of is that Jericho now wears trunks instead of tights... THAT'S TOTALLY HUGE!

I think a lot of you guys need to learn how the character is being portrayed

Understanding Orton's Character

Eye-catching Bold text... for a reason. I want you do to something.

Load up iTunes and go to the online store. From there search Wrestlecast and you are looking for a podcast. There should be two interviews with Randy Orton in there. Listen to them. I pretty sure in the 2008 interview he explains in great detail how he works the crowd with his voice, his expressions and his speed. He talks about how he acts during a match dependent on how he gets booed or cheered. It's a good listen and by listening to that and then watching him in the past year, I really love the character he's become. Orton is a smart smart worker. He knows exactly what he is doing!

Since the Sarge is guest hosting Monday, do you suspect, as I do, that we may revisit that little tidbit/see him try for some revenge in some way?

Yeah Orton punted Slaughter in the very early stages of his Viper turn so some measure of revenge will most likely happen.

The viper gimmick is much more better for me.Legend killer was also good but the problem is it was not a very original gimmick. It was just a old school type gimmick.Someone who is young, arrogant, coward who thinks he is better than all of the legends. It was a good gimmick but nothing near like his current gimmick.Emotionless, cold, ruthless pshycopath. What can be better heel gimmick than this. His current theme fits his character well and look him more like a villain. The problem with viper gimmick is it's a very good character to book in WWE.WWE book their heel's weaker than face's.What makes viper character great is Orton destroying nearly killing his opponents without mercy.Remember how everyone liked Orton's built up until Shane's return. He punted McMahon, then won Royal rumble, then threatened Stephanie to sue the company. When Shane returned Orton started to lose his credibility. How can someone who is in late 30's and who is not even a wrestler can beat up 3young pro wrestlers.Viper character is one of the best characters in wrestling today but when you book this character weak and coward it failed. That's why legend killer gimmick was much better for him as heel.WWE can book him as a coward or someone who can't win clean but it doesn't hurt him. When he is viper you expect someone who is crazy can do anything he wants if he is provoked but in WWE heels aren't booked like that.Faces are the ones that booked dominant. That's why viper character doesn't work like legend killer did.So as a character viper is much better and exciting for me but as a wrestling gimmick for heel legend killer worked better for Orton.

I personally like both gimmicks. As the Legend Killer, Randy Orton was amazing, he was a young up and coming star trying to make a name for himself. How'd he go about doing this? He " killed " every single legend he could get his freaking hands on. He portrayed this character very well. He was still that young, cocky wrestler from Evolution, he just thought he was better then everyone, including the WWE legends.

Nowadays, he is known as the Viper, he goes around and does what he wants when he wants. Now THIS DOES NOT MEAN HE IS BOOKED TO BE THE NEXT STONE COLD, HE NEVER WAS, AND THERE NEVER WILL BE ANOTHER STONE COLD. He's the Viper because of the way he stalks his oppopent in the ring and it just suits him perfectly I find. Randy Orton plays an amazing heel, and I'm glad to see him blossoming into this so well. I think the Viper character is so much better. I love how you never know what he is going to do next, and that he's always constantly thinking, changing his attack.

I preferd Randy Orton as the legend killer rather than the viper. The viper is a more phycophic character where as the legend killer was a cool cocky guy that you wanted to knock the living shit out of, but he played that well. Something just doesnt seem right about him now.

I like both personas, the legend killer and the viper are both great characters.

I love the music and actions of the legend killer but i think the viper sounds much more physcotic or however you spell it, which suits his gimmick really well.

Both the Legend Killer and The Viper are great nicknames and the way Orton played/plays both gimmicks was/is awesome. I think The Viper got Orton over better than the Legend Killer, but the Legend Killer is cooler in my opinion. But I think Orton plays an angry psycho better than a cocky bastard. The Viper wins over The Legend Killer.

The legend killer was good when he was up and coming after he made a name for himself it had to go. He wasn't that cocky young kid anymore who was trying to make a name for himself. He was now a legit main eventer so i think the viper suits him more now especially the way he stalks his prey before doing his finisher.

randy orton :worship:

Evil Monkey hit it right on the head, The Legend Killer was Orton being a cocky kid trying to make a name for himself, but after a while it god old. Now that Orton is in the main event The Viper is great for him as he is psychotic. I wish however Orton still had that cockyness instead of being afraid every time. Orton plays both characters well but the Viper suits him the best right now.

Nah... I think the Legend Killer was a better character. It was more storyline driven. Each week, we were left to wonder who his next target could be. Now with the Viper, it's more or less [whining]"I have violent tendencies! I need help... see? My psychiatrist and my 3 laywers said so!"[/whining]

Anyone can stalk their prey... that's to be expected, but the Legend Killer required imagination...
