The Latest Thing That Makes Me Hate Human Beings

Is the show Toddlers and Tiaras. Becca and I watched some of this when she was here in February and I haven't been so disgusted with a television show in years. In short, it's a look into the world of children (as in mostly under the age of ten, some as young as two) who are entered into beauty pageants. You would regularly see things such as four year olds screaming that they don't want to do something and being yelled at by their parents for not doing as they're told because they're hungry or want to play instead.

Nice to see a family being broken apart because a mother had a child to fulfill some stupid fantasy of hers.

That show absolutely sickens me as a father. If my wife even brought up the notion of putting our daughter in one of those things, there would be a divorce followed by me gunning for custody. Thankfully my wife agrees with me on how horrendous these pageants are.

It wasn't the actual pageant that bothered me, it was the mother claiming that the only reason why she even wanted to have a daughter in the first place was to put her into the pageant.

And when the father decided that the couple was spending an absurd amount of money on the things, and wanted to quit, the mother decided that the pageant was more important than the family. That's what got me.

Same with me. I could live with these pageants if the kids wanted to be in them and if they were old enough to know what they wanted. A 2 year old doesn't know if this is what they want or not. If these kids were like 8 or 9 or so that'd be one thing, but there's stuff like this or a mother yelling at her daughter because her daughter didn't want to do some routine on stage and wanted to play a game instead. The girl was 3 years old. Let them be kids, not whatever you choose for them.

Can anyone say Jon-Benet Ramsey? I've seen commercial for this idiotic program with my wife. The way these "mothers" go off is beyond asinine. This along with another show called "Dance Moms" I believe. Its shows like these that almost make me want to destroy my TV. Luckily I stick with shows like NCIS and Operation Repo.

The most disgusting thing about this show is that some people must actually watch it and enjoy it. If there's no audience and no demand, it goes off the air, end of story.

I've never watched a minute of it. As a father, I'm disgusted by the concept. I saw a commercial for it once, and that was enough for me. Makes a show like John and Kate Plus Eight (or whatever the hell it's called now) look good, and that's saying something. Because that's pretty goddamn horrible too.

I'm a little more forgiving of that Kate plus 8 show, if only for the reason that raising 8 children has got to be very expensive, & the money the make from the show basically pays for their entire lives (assuming Jon & Kate aren't blowing the money on themselves of course). They should have no issue clothing, feeding, finding a proper size home, & bringing extra help to raise the kids with the amount of cash they're making from that show. Plus the money they make they should be able to start a proper college fund (or therapy fund) for which of the kids as well. It's just a shame those kids have to have such a douche for a father & cunt for a mother.
