Brilliant Idiot
Apparently, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum feels that Nonito Donaire breached his contract when he decided to opt out and sign with rival promotion, Golden Boy.

Donaire feels that the contract was up, as the time line has been met and the demands in the contract haven't been met. Some of those demands included purses or a certain size and a certain amount of fights in a certain period of time.

However, Arum is contesting that the reason these demands weren't met is due to the fact that Donaire was out with injury, therefore the contract would legally extent to make up for lost time. Thus, giving Arum more time to reach contractual agreements.

Rachel Donaire, the wife and manager of Nonito, also cited the lack of attention "The Filipino Flash" is being paid as part of their decision to leave the promotional company. She feels that Arum cares more about another Filipino star on his roster named Manny Pacquiao.

While both sides feel they have valid contracts, it appears that this matter might be headed to court.

In Heavyweight boxing news, Vitali Klitschko had easy work with Cuban Olympian Odlanier Solis on Saturday. The fight was scheduled for 12 rounds but didn't make it out of the first.

Both men started out feeling each other, until Vitali landing a glancing blow. When Solis attempted to back up, he seemed to hurt a leg and feel to the canvas. The fight was inevitably stopped.

No word yet on what officially caused this incredibly odd ending. However, rumors suggest that he might have been injured before the contest, but didn't want to potentially give up his 1.8 million dollar purse.

The Super Middleweight division continues to get hotter. Fresh off his quality win on Saturday against Ireland's Brain MaGee, Lucian Bute seems geared towards a showdown with Denmark's Mikkel Kessler.

While nothing has been signed, it appear that both parties are interested in getting the fight ready for the summer. Bute, undefeated, says he is willing to leave his backyard of Canada in order to get the fight done. Born in Romania, he is notorious for fighting north of the border where he has a tremendous following.

Kessler was apart of the Super 6 tournament that SHOWTIME is hosting, but fell out with an injury. While the injury seemed legitimate as he was in a grueling fight with Carl Froch, he seems ready to prove that all is well once more. Still, nothing is official.

Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez is possible for later this year, according to Bob Arum and Marquez himself. However, this is provided that he gets passed Shane Mosley next month and that Marquez is willing to make some concessions. One of those concessions might be moving away from his promotional company, Golden Boy.

Some decent fights are coming up on Saturday. Cuban gold medalist, Yuriorkis Gamboa takes on the rugged Jorge Solis. This will be broadcast on HBO.

On the Friday before this telecast, ESPN2 will be giving you a look at a different Cuban gold medalist in Erislandy Lara. Should be entertaining while it lasts.
