The John Laurinaitis Promo on Punk

Big Sexy

Deadly Rap Cannibal
Something that I haven't seen talked about much is the short promo Johnny Ace cut on CM Punk last night right after the Mark Henry match and just before the Jericho attack. Laurinaitis said something along the lines of dark clouds in Punk's future and that it wasn't just a storm but a natural disaster. When I first heard the promo it struck me as very descriptive but I couldn't make a connection to anything except Earthquake and Typhoon. Obviously Earthquake is deceased and Typhoon/Tugboat/Shockmaster is retired and in his 50's so I just let it go.

Then today on WWE.com there is an article on Lord Tensai and his past in the WWE as A-Train. Towards the end of the article it says that Tensai is a Japanese word meaning "disaster." Maybe I'm wrong but considering Ace's past in Japan, I have a feeling that CM Punk's next feud after Jericho will be with Lord Tensai.

Thoughts on the possibility of a feud between the two?

How do you see the potential feud starting?

Do you actually see this as a connection or am I just pulling shit out of my ass?

Thoughts on the possibility of a feud between the two?

Lord Tensai looked more impressive last night than he ever has as Albert or A-Train, dude looked downright like a beast, like he did in Japan and that is what WWE need to do. CM Punk can work with anybody, I'm yet to see someone he can't work well with and seeing as he gets the biggest overall face pop nearly every week, if WWE build Tensai gradually as an animal of a man and then unleash him on Punk, I think they could have a pretty good program.

How do you see the potential feud starting?

Laurinitas and Punk come close to getting physical and Tensai attacks Punk before he can touch Johnny. Or another avenue they can take is Laurinitas not wanting Punk to be WWE Champion but wanting Jericho to hold the belt, he has Tensai screw Punk out of the belt during the inevitable WWE Championship rematch at Extreme Rules, beginning a Tensai/Punk angle.

Do you actually see this as a connection or am I just pulling shit out of my ass?

No, you aren't pulling shit out your ass; well you may, I don't exactly know what you are or aren't doing in-front of your computer, but nevertheless as for this topic, no. Seems like something WWE would do, they've translated it and put it on WWE.com so those that visit will take a look will probably forget the "natural disaster" line from Laurinitas. I'd like them to have Tensai as a henchmen for Johnny, only if they do it right.

That is a very interesting find. I thought Tensai looked very good last night and I would be very intrigued by a feud between him and Punk. Tensai definitely looks like the type of guy who could be a hired gun, and what better way to make sure the new debutante gets over as a heel than to have him take on the way-over WWE Champ?

Dark Clouds and a Natural Disaster = F-5.

Brock will be going for the title after he puts Cena on the shelf in my opinion. Brock will win title. And Brock will defend against Rock at Summerslam. Ten years in the making. Rock will win title. Cena will win Rumble. Rock vs Cena at WM29. Cena wins rematch.

You know, it's possible now that you mention it.

I remember reading an article a few weeks back after the first Lord Tensai vid was released. In the article, Yoshi Tatsu explained what the Japanese writing on the back of Tensai's head meant. I can't remember exactly what it said, but I think that it was something along the lines of a disaster from the gods. I do remember distinctly, however, that disaster was mentioned. As Big Sexy also pointed out, Tensai itself means "disaster".

I remember reading also that, allegedly, Tensai is going to ally himself with Big Johnny and that Tensai was going to get a strong push. This was just after Tensai's signing was announced so it's possible that Vince has changed his mind by now.

I can see a feud with Punk happening with Tensai after Big Johnny has put Punk through the wringer for a while. He said that Punk was going to be defending his title more often on Raw. Punk had a hard match against Henry and was dealing with a "back injury" due to his WM match with Jericho. Then Jericho "breaks a whiskey bottle" over Punk's head outside. I can see Big Johnny setting up a few opponents for Punk, giving him some tough matches and generally wearing him down before sicking Tensai on him when he thinks Punk's at his weakest.

Yep that looks like who CM Punk is feuding with next. I dont think its a coincidence that WWE.com is writing about how Tensai means a "disaster" after Johnny Ace warning to Punk.

It looks like they are picking back up the Punk/Laurinaitis angle. Now that Johnny has full control I see him screwing Punk out of the title.

Brock is definitely the "natural disaster." Tornadoes are classified on a scale of F1-5, as most everyone on here already knows. I could definitely see Punk being taken out of the title scene for a bit to go face off against the returning Albert. Maybe we'll see an angle where Laurinaitis loses his spot/power after Punk defeats Albert.

Lord Tensai last night looked better than he ever ever did as A-Train!! Wow he even shaved his back for us!! Anyway i could possibly see a feud down the road between these two!! Does this remind anyone of vinnie mac screwing with SCSA any chance he could get.

Now before anyone goes all ape shit on me the vinnie mac feud against the Rattlesnake was gold and the best!! Just saying it has some similarities in there. You bet your bottom dollar that Johnny is gonna screw punk out of the title!! I for one am looking forward to this and Lord Tensai if he keeps this up hell i could see him in the main event later on!

I wish he didnt shave his back. I loved it when the crowd yelled "shave your back" all the time. Now we have to think of new insults for a-train. His new name sucks and i refuse to use it. His name is still a-train or albert as far as im concerned.

I think they need to see if he gets over before putting him a top end feud, but the framework for an angle with Punk and Tensai is there, especially with Ace's history in Japanese wrestling.

You might have found an actual connection here, glad someone's thinking things through. I think Punk needs a what I call a downtime rivalry for now. A downtime rivalry is a rivalry that you know is going to end with the champion coming out on top but its necessary in order to remind the crowd of how dominant the superstar is and give a change of scenery. Its just like his rivalry with Dolph Ziggler. This can also help get Tensai over and to be honest I want to see Punk face someone who actually poses a physical threat to him. The rivalry will probably start with Tensai interfering in an important match for Punk. Then Punk calls him out and well you know the rest.
