What they f*ck happened in the thread section here
Now I have taken a rather hot topic to make my return but i opened this section and did wanna start a discussion and this is what came in my head (I''m 25, sue me!)

Now this lady right here was as big as any star in the Attitude Era. By Gawd you talk over! She epitomized what WWF was trying to sell to us teenagers back then. Crash TV with violence, anarchy......and hand-printed boobies.

Looking back one realizes how she shaped that era as well. Personally, I must say she was THE most stunning Diva ever. Hands down. Untouchable beauty, had the body and she could go in the ring. For me one of the marquee moments of 98 was Sable delivering the sable bomb to Marc Mero at Summerslam 98.

So here's the deal, Sable had it all and without a shadow of a doubt made it in the man's world of pro-wrestling, so how much credit would you giver her for the success and popularity of the AE?

AND LOOK, THERE'S A POLL!

Maybe 5% at best. When you look at every thing else that was happening at that time Sable was a pretty small part of the show. I'm sure she attracted plenty of young men to watching Raw but the 5-10 minutes she was on screen isn't what kept people watching.

I think Sable was overshadowed by some other of the Divas during the Attitude Era. Honestly I can see she did have an impact in the early stages of the AE but not a big enough impact to say like "oh, if it weren't for sable ________ (insert WWF event there). I think she contributed and did as she was told fairly well. But like I said i think other Divas did a little more than Sable did during the AE. Chyna, Tori, Terri, and later years of Trish Stratus in my opinion did a little more than Sable did during the Attitude Era. I don't necessarily mean just by winning the Divas Championships, but Sable's big moments were after the AE ended and when she returned to the WWE back in 2002-2005ish. Chyna was a big hit in the AE not only because she was so dominant in the ring but she managed the likes of D-Generation-X, Chris Jericho, Triple H and Eddie Guerrero (RIP).

I agree with #MrScissorsKick. Sable had her moments, but she really wasn't a huge part of what was going on with women's wrestling until the 2000s at best.

As soon as I saw Sable's name mentioned, I immediately go back to the Slammy awards. I think this put her name on the map.

I’m surprised to see the first few replies not giving Sable much credit. You must not have been watching regularly in 1998 or you don’t remember it very well. Sable was a huge part of Raw back then. She was as over as anybody. She got as good a crowd reaction as DX and better than anyone else not named Steve Austin. To say her best work came after returning in 2003/2004 is just flat out wrong in my opinion. To say Tori and Terri were better than her is just as wrong. You may think women’s wrestling was better in the early 2000s and you would be right. Keep in mind Sable was the reason the women’s title was brought back in the first place. She was so popular in 1998 they resurrected a dead title despite there being basically no competition just for her. Sable may have been a one year wonder but her popularity was off the charts in 1998 and she should be mentioned among the most popular stars of the attitude era.

i can def remember her as one of the first divas to push the envelope during the attitude era. Lots of divas did back then but she was def one of the first. Who could forget her awesome raw magazine shoots. A young mans dream right there

I totally agree with the Brain, after the Fabulous Moolah and Wendy Richter in the 80's, women in wrestling was practicly dead, then Sunny started to get people's attention, but Sable definitly made an impact, who knew that one of Hunter Hearst Helmsley's vallet was going to be huge, she was the reason why Marc Mero was relevant in the first place ( i know, i almost didn't remember him either ) Every time she was part of a story, that story was big, so in a way, she brought back women wrestling back to the WWE, and when she turned heel she also made a big impact, so as a face or as a heel, she allways got people's attention.........

Sable has an interesting contribution I figure. As far as my development as a human being went, she invented sex. She always got a good pop (easy now...) from the crowd and done some innovative stuff. In terms of women in the WWF she was pretty instrumental too. Big popularity surge after her, even if it was only to the degradation of women. Her stuff with Mero and Golddust and the his lady Luna was decent.

I always prefered sunny though, maye that was the LOD loincloth though.

Does anyone remember the strange Lazer quest adventure ads sable used to star in on wwf? They were hilarious.

Sable was not a draw but no one turned off the show or went to the bathroom when she was out there. Pre-internet explosion, people without the funds for premium cable or balls to buy a porn tape would rely on Sable to scratch their itch. There really wasn't anything else like her on free tv or basic cable (except for maybe tv broadcasts of The Howard Stern Show). In a way she kept some audience after her segment was over as certain viewers may fall asleep in front of Raw in a state of excessive post-fapping bliss.

But in the end it was all very short lived. The casual fan that enjoyed her latex body suits develop in to more skin, intergender feuds with Mero, followed by a Women's Championship and Playboy spread were going to quickly abandon her when she couldn't take things further or a new girl came along. It was an incredible run but short and certainly was only a very small part in the acsent of the AE (0.17%).

I give more credit to Trish and Chyna as far as substance and success in the WWE. In the end though she belongs in The Hall, not for her accomplishment, but because people will stay tuned in too see how she looks and see if she is going to wear a latex body suit.

I gotta agree with The Brain on this one. Sable got huge reactions as far as women go. The fact that they brought the title back for her says a lot to. She overshadowed Mark Mero right from the start, and I remember the crowd going nuts when she split from him. It also goes to show how much more time the put in the midcard back then, as everyone had a pretty good story going, and not just the top guys. Sable was eye candy sure, but what is different is the crowd really got behind her in the ring to. She wasn't the best wrestle, but I think she really made a print on the WWE during her time.

Sable was super-over with the fans in 1998-99, but once they started pushing her, she became an egomaniac. Luna Vachon and others have talked about how Sable refused to job, refused to learn how to wrestle or even take bumps - but still expected everyone to kiss her ass and make her look good.

I remember watching her in action at WrestleMania 14 - she and Marc Mero took on Goldust and Luna Vachon. No matter how much Luna sold her moves or acted afraid of her, I never bought it that Sable was ever any good as in the ring. Yeah, she was hot as hell, but she was a cancer to the WWF women's division and they were better off once she was gone.

She definitely provided some memorable moments. The painted on hand prints, the potato sack, Sable bombing Marc Mero. When I think back to the attitude era she is someone I think of. I remember seeing a lot of Sable signs in the crowd like "I like the "B" in Sable. I was always more of a Sunny fan but I think Sable made a bigger impact. So yeah, she had her moments.

Man Sable is getting way too little credit in this thread.

Sable was huge in 1998 which was in fact when the Internet started booming. She was all over Raw and she was actually a big reason that I, a devoted WCW fan at the time, would click over to Raw. I wanted to see Sable. I was an adolescent and Sable was the greatest thing I'd ever seen.

Sable moved merchandise and was involved in high profile feuds. Feuding with her was a basically like being in the main event because you were guaranteed significant time on every show.

If you recall, Undertaker even called her McMahon's "Meal ticket" in a segment on Raw where he was threatening Vince by choking Sable. Yes this was scripted, but it was based on reality.

Sable made A LOT of money for the WWF. Sunny was better looking by far, but Sable had an insane level of sex appeal that does something very unique to men.

Edit: The Attitude Era was about Austin, McMahon, The Rock, DX, The Undertaker and Sable. Those were the focal points of the show and all the other characters who were relevant became that way by cycling through programs with the people on this list.

I definitely think Sable was a very important part of the Attitude Era.

She was incredibly hot, and apart from possibly Sunny, nothing like the women the WWE had previously had on the roster. She drew in alot of fans, especially adolescent males who fancied the pants off her and her appearance in Playboy got alot of publicity for the company, as it was the first WWE Diva to pose nude.

She wasn't that bad in the ring either, it was impressive that she could actually nail a Sable Bomb on Mark Mero, and it was a shame she didn't stay with the company longer than she did, but I have read that she had a bad backstage attitude. It was great to see her return for a run in the 2000s, she was still hot then.

Brock Lesnar is living the dream. No doubt he was a young guy back in the late 1990s, staring at this hot woman on his tv...then he ends up marrying her. Fair play Brock lad!
