The Greatest King Of Wrestling

Spidey Revivey

Porn is okay here long as it ain't dudes.
Heirarchy. In the world of wrestling this word means everything. Once you become a King, you have pretty much stepped up and said "None are greater than I; kneel bitch." It's perhaps the most classic gimmick a superstar can don. And it's one of the most used. Just about every promotion at one time or another has went for this angle, so please do not feel insulted if I didn't put down a certain wrestling king.

With that being said, In your opinion, which superstar made the best king? And why?

Edit: This was suppose to be a poll. Damn it I didnt check the thing while typin in how many. Well here's a rough idea:

Harley Race
"Macho King" Randy Savage
King Booker
"The King Of Kings" Triple H
William Regal
Jerry "The King" Lawler
And Any Other

Jerry the King Lawler is my favorite. He was very good in the ring and with his arragance and cockiness he just seems like a natural to use the gimmick. I don't think he would have been as good with any other gimmick.

King Booker seemed very cheesey to me and I feel like they over did it a bit. He had the gimmick to long and I was a huge Booker T fan and it made me so mad.

You forgot King Mabel but noone cares about him anyway.

Well considering some of those guys received those monikers by winning the King of the Ring I would have to assume a few other names should be included as well. King Lesnar, King Angle, King Gunn, King Edge. Sure they didn't actually go by "King", however they did win the King of the Ring and in regards to Angle he did wear the crown if I remember correctly, at least for awhile. Likewise, I don't remember Regal going by "King", though I am probably just forgetting it.

Of the guys you listed I would go with either the Macho King or HHH. Macho King was fucking awesome to watch. I've always enjoyed Savage, but the crown just opened up another side of his ego. As far as HHH, he has been incredibly successful and for most of his dominance he has gone by The King of Kings.

Well if we ar going by best as the King gimmick it's probably Triple H. He's been the King of Kings forever now and has been past the top of the card for almost all of it. But if we are going by best guy overall to have used the King gimmick it's really between Savage, Triple H, or Harley Race. From a kayfabe perspective it's Trips all the way.

Triple H- 13-time World Champion, Evolution, D-Generation X, 2nd Grand Slam Champion, 2002 Rumble winner, 1997 King of the Ring winner, married the boss' daughter, and heir to the WWE thrown.

I'd say Triple H has this thing locked up.

Personally I'll take Savage though. His matches were always top notch no matter where he was on the card, Ricky Steamboat I'm looking at you. Randy Savage was one of my favorite wrestlers as a kid and still is in my top five, and he held the World title for a year during Hulkamania, and was involed in some of the most memorable storylines in WWF history like the Mega Powers and his retirement and marriage at SummerSlam.

So from a personal perspective Randy Savage is the real King of Kings.

Honorable mention to the King of Harts, owen Hart. I loved his cocky, bratty brother gimmick. Walking out with the slammys as well...classic stuff.
I'll assume it's someone who walked around calling themselves King....and i gotta go with Lawler. The longest reigning King in wrestling history. Harley Race comes in a close second cause he was a true ligit bad ass motherfucker and could call himself Emperor of the World and no one would disagree. Trips, not so much.

Lol looks like my answer is gonna be the same too
Triple H is the King of Kings. period. other than maybe Hogan and Ric Flair, nobody learnt how to play the game better.

Savage was a great King when he was Macho King but it was shortlived, and he lost more often then he won during that period too..

to everyone who is saying triple h is the best king, your fucking crazy. First of all his king of the ring reign was nothing special. And I thought the king of king nickname was so fucking ******ed. It was just randomly thrown onto him to make him relevant, when he hasn't really mattered since 2005.

But i would have to give it to Owen Hart. When ever he was given anything, he ran with it. This was the exact same.

Owen Hart the King of Harts. Actually the Slammy Award winning King of Harts. He played the part perfectly. Also everyone is forgetting about King Haku, the man who beat Harley Race and of course King Hacksaw Jim Duggan. It was great seeing it on him b/c he was this scruffy guy but he seemed so proud with that silly crown. Was so exited to see King Duggan vs. Akeem at The Philadelphia Spectrum when I was little. Also did anyone see that episode of "How I Met Your Mother" where they were doing a flashback of past Halloweens and Alyson Hannigans character was dressed as King Duggan? I couldn't believe it.

I'll go with Randy Savage. His match against Ultimate Warrior was as a result of this "Macho King" gimmick oh his. It was at least a four star match and we all know how difficult it is to drag one out of Warrior. Unlike Triple H, the King part of his name was more than just a moniker. It contibuted to his feuds and opened up another aspect of his already egoistical heel personality. I loved that segment where he sent Queen Sherri to persuade Warrior.

I think King Booker deserves a mention too. It kinda revitalised his fledging career. Before this gimmick he was loosing to Boogeyman of all people. Its probably the best thing Booker T has done in the WWE. The King's court was a good stable and Booker was pretty funny in this gimmick of his.

I do not think Triple H should be considered as a King because like I said earlier it was only a moniker for HHH. He did not play a King in the way Booker and Savage and Harley Race did.

BTW, Blue Cardinal, how is marrying Stephanie Mcmahon a kayfabe achievement as you have stated? Its a great backstage achievement though.

Disagree with hhh being on this list, sure he walks around thinking he's better than everyone but so does every heel, sure he has the word king in 1 of his 100 nicknames but it's just another nickname for the sake of it. I wasn't around for harley race and to young to really analyse macho king, I though owen hart was awesome after winning the king of the ring but I'd have to give my vote to jerry lawler. He had some great fueds, had stuck to the gimmick his whole wwe career, even had the crowd chanting burger king at him, and whenever 'the king' is mentioned, we all think of him. His cowardly heel antics in direct contradiction to his boasts and claims as a king make him perfect for the role. In ring ability of a good standard and great on the mic.

I feel that any "King of the Ring" fits under "any other", so i have to go with Edge.

I have to go with "other", and that's Edge. He won KOTR in 2001, so he's certainly woth of the moniker king, even though he never went by that title. Sure, he won by dubious circumstances, but he beat Kurt freakin Angle, long before Edge was considered "main event' status.

Along with Christian and the Hardy's he revolutionized the tag team business. He's the first Money in the Bank winner, 14 time tag champion, 9 time World champion, 5 time IC champion, and 1 time US champion. In short, he's won more titles then any wrestler while in WWE. 2010 Roayl Rumble winner as well.

Edge has done it all. He was one of the greatest non-Pg heels of the decade, hilarious as a silly face, and great in his tweener role. One of the greatest mic men in the business, regardless of the gimmick he's playing. His wrestling ability has often been overshadowed as well because of him being the short-cut taking heel for so long, but he's a phenomenal wrestler who has lost little of that, despite the serious injuries and lost time he endured. In his current character, he be the most well-rounded wrestler going, which, along with his accolades, screams "King."

Jimmy King. No, just kidding. LOL

The greatest king of wrestling is Jerry Lawler. Why? He will ALWAYS be known as "THE KING" because that is what he is known for and has been for many years. Many wrestlers won the "King of the Ring" award, but went on to become known for other things. Several wrestlers have had the gimmick of "The King", but most of them were known for things other than their gimmick. None of them will ever be more of "The King" than Lawler. That will always be his. He also held countless titles and was one of the best announcers. Lawler more than deserves the title of being the greatest king in wrestling.

While he wasn't the first king I will say that Jerry Lawler is the best king ever ! For 35 years that's what he's known as and is a legend in this business !

I'm going with INDY all the way here, and it's not just because I'm biased towards his affiliation with the SAMCRO thread. But it doesn't hurt.

Triple H, far and above my favorite wrestler, has done it all in the WWE and in the wrestling world. He contributed greatly in the evolution of the WWE in the form of the Attitude Era. He's won almost every title possible, including the King of the Ring and the Royal Rumble [those alone should make him king.] The next Ric Flair in my opinion.

As for Savage, who didn't love watching this guy. Someone you could get behind as a face or a heel. I always told myself that if I were a wrestler, I would springboard over the top rope into the ring everytime just like he did. Also a guy, who at the time he was employed, won every title the WWE had to offer, and even made a pretty decent commentator if memory serves.

These two men personify everything I love about wrestling. Great in-ring work, great mic work, excellent ring psychology, and could make just about any wrestler look like they were Ric Flair. Ask any casual or non casual fan, these two guys are synonymous with pro wrestling.

Actually he won King Of The Ring too. So, that with his King Of Kings nickname in my opinion gives him the right to be on this "list".

Wait no King Hacksaw Jim Duggan!!!?? Haku!!??? lol

I guess I would give it to Jerry Lawler for having the nickname for so long. He used it, and ran with it. When I think of the king I do think of him.

Props go to Booker. He won and completely changed his whole gimmick. He even changed his accent! He even went on to become World Champion. He definitely used the king thing to springboard and redefine himself.

But, my favorite King, however, was "The Macho King" Randy Savage. I just loved how he was as the King. He was more of a power hungry king. His Survivor Series Team was called "King's Court". He had his woman, Queen Sherri. He even rocked a different crown then anyone else on this list. Even the scepter was badass. He used this gimmick for a couple years. He won the king title from Hacksaw Jim Duggan in Mid 1989 and used it until he lost his retirement match to Warrior at Wrestlemania 7.

Actually you are wrong. This was right after he lost his first WWE World Title. He used the "Macho King" name for almost 2 years. As I said in my previous post. Also, he used the KING name longer than basically every other name on the list. Lawler goes without saying.

Also, he lost more than he won?? Are you kidding me? This was after his year long reign as world champ. He really had developed his name as one that was more popular than anyone else, besides Hogan, and Warrior overtook him. But other than those 2, he was the biggest name.

At the 1989 Survivor Series he survived along with Dino Bravo and Earthquake to give his team the victory. He was constantly making an example out of people when he was the king. He beat Dusty Rhodes at Summerslam 90.
