Please give reasons for listing cards

Well I was mistaken as I thought Final Resolution wasn't the last pay per view of 2008. I do apologise for that. Anyway this pay per view should be fairly interesting. The feud between the Main Event Mafia and the TNA Frontline is boiling to a point so I'm assuming all members of both sides will be in action at Genesis.

I will most likely watch this pay per view no matter how shit the card is. Feel free to list possible cards on what matches you think will happen at the pay per view. I really have no idea what the main event for the TNA World Heavyweight Title is going to be. Sting has already faced Joe and Styles one on one. And I don't think any other members of Frontline are ready to be in the main event just yet, so maybe a fatal four way match could take place.

The promotional poster is average at best. What are your thoughts on the 2009 Genesis TNA Pay Per View?

Well...if they don't have a match already at a Impact taping & I know he lost to Kurt Angle at Final Resolution(but it was just to guarantee a match with Jarrett)... I would go with Rhino facing Sting @ Genesis as he already has a victory over him at Impact last week. It seems logical unless TNA creative changes things up.

I see this for the card

Angle vs Jarrett : it's the only already guaranteed match in this, plus, it should help to build kurt's already huge heel heat, hopefully some form of interference from foley or the mafia to help the other win, angle really plays this feud out well, i wish jarrett came off a little more exciting.

Rhino Vs Sting(c) : With the way creative has been going, and with his victory over Sting, i see this in the card too. This match will be for the belt, and Sting will go over, but not without interference from the Mafia and another walk out at the end of the match beat down like at Final Resolution.

Abyss vs James Storm : James Storm seems to be singling out Abyss now , so I can see these two going at it. I see Storm winning here with interference from Roode. This should be a fairly decent match as both have solid ring work. Hopefully this goes down.

Joe, Styles, Devon vs Nash, Steiner, Booker : How could they not have the rest of the biggest storyline in TNA not in a match? They can't. I think this match would be a farely decent match plus it would do well for all of them. If they are booking for 3D to turn on the Frontline, this would be a good way to do it. Build this as revenge for taking out Ray, and then, out of nowhere, Ray returns, but on the Mafia's side and helps them win the match.

Shane Sewell vs Bashir : I think Bashir has finally had it and is going to step up. Hopefully in the coming weeks he challenges Sewell to some kind of match for screwing him over twice. I see Bashir winning this if it happens, only to set up a rematch or two with Sewell winning those.

And my last guess would be Foley making his in ring return to take on maybe Alex Shelley because he's tired of hearing Shelley bitch and complain. Maybe....not sure, but if so, it'd be a good test to see how Foley works now and how well he is in the ring now. If this happens, I see Foley winning this too, but only after Sabin comes out and tries to interfere and Foley takes him out too.

i can see angle taking this one i just ave a feeling he will to level out with the next match jeff will finally join the MEM its the best way to go so it wll make both men look good and that poster sucks ithats very similar to the turning point one what is it with foley gettin all the posters?????

I think Angle will beat Jarrett, but it won't be with help from the Main Event Mafia. The man who is going to screw Jeff Jarrett in this match is going to be MICK FOLEY. Foley now has control of TNA since Jarrett says he needs to focus on wrestling rather than business. Then you have the backstage segment from this week's Impact where Foley walks out of the MEM locker room laughing and saying he forgot how much fun those guys are. Also, Foley in a way fits with what the MEM stands for in that he is a former world champion and has sacrificed his body for the business. I see Foley turning heel here as the power of controlling TNA goes to his head and he sides with the MEM.

TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
"The War Machine" Rhino vs. (c) "The Icon" Sting

I wonder what the odds on a Rhino victory are? On paper this is the worst main event I've seen in a long while.

THE REMATCH
TNA Founder Jeff Jarrett vs. Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle

Meh, I've seen it. It was good, but Jarrett is so boring.

MICK FOLEY'S IN-RING RETURN
Mick Foley, AJ Styles & Brother Devon vs. Legends Champion Booker T, Kevin Nash and "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner

Spunking Foley's in ring debut in a 6 man is a total waste of time. He'll go in the ring and be totally inconvincing, TNA will then expect him to draw when he's in the main event in several months.

TNA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
Beer Money vs. Abyss & Matt Morgan vs. (c) Jay Lethal & Consequences Creed

Should be an intresting match at the very least.

TOURNAMENT FINAL TO CROWN A NEW X CHAMPION
Chris Sabin vs. Alex Shelley

I'm not a huge fan of either. Should be good, but not as good as Sam will expect it to be.

TNA KNOCKOUT WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP - LUMBERJACK MATCH
Christy Hemme vs. (c) Awesome Kong

Christy will win, meh, whatever.

GRUDGE MATCH
Referee Shane Sewell vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir

There's not much I can really say about this.

It looks like an intresting show, I'll wait for the DVD.

TheOneBigWill's 'early predictions' for T.N.A. Genesis 2009:

T.N.A. Heavyweight Championship: Sting (c) v. Rhino: In agreement with Jake, this is the worst Main Event in a while.

While I can agree in the rebuilding and attempted re-push of Rhino, because I like him, the fact is without the ability to be the Rhino of E.C.W. fame.. he's just some fat-ass that's a mid-carder getting a lucky break. He should be forever greatful that he's even remotely getting to job to Sting, period.. let alone on Pay per view.

Now, on the flip side, if for whatever purpose Sting drops the title to Rhino.. I think Sting needs to take another year and a half off to spend crying up in the rafters, because that's just not something an Icon should be able to live down.

I firmly believe Sting will retain. But it's T.N.A., so Rhino has a better shot at winning the title than any other Main Eventer on their roster.

6-Man Tag Team Grudge Match: Mick Foley, A.J. Styles & Brother Devon v. Kevin Nash, Booker T. & Scott Steiner: Unlike Jake, I honestly believe this is really one of the better ways to debut Mick Foley.

While I don't think being along side one half of Team 3D, is ideal.. nor do I believe Foley could benefit in wrestling against any of the 3 opponents he has, I do believe a Tag match, 6-man or otherwise, is the better way to go. It's a safe insurance policy incase Foley can't go worth a crap anymore. He can just tag out and watch from the apron.

I fully see the M.E.M. picking up the victory here. Why? Because it's T.N.A. (that's my new answer for everything) Seriously though, because the Face team is weirdly uneven. Devon is the weaker of the Team 3D duo, and Styles can't carry the load forever.. Foley is the wildcard, and my guess is he'll clean house for a moment, but do what he does best.. job in the end.

On the opposite side of that however, you have Nash, Steiner & Booker. It's like a screwed up version of the n.W.o. all over again. I just can't grip around this trio being worth anything, but out of the entire group I believe it's these 3 that are solidly the most bonded.

The ReMatch: Jeff Jarrett v. Kurt Angle: Angle wins in the rematch.. pushing it to a 6-sides of Steel finale. Then pushing it further to tag matches, and possibly the King of the Mountain match.

The first match was good, not great. The second should be more violent, but likely an exact copy of what the first was. They should've made this match an anything goes street fight. They could've had an open opportunity to come up with another catchy name for it.. like "New Year's Bash". Again, I'm believing in Angle picking up the victory here just to tie things up.

If Angle loses, what's next? Either Jarrett goes back to being "retired" or Angle continues on a rampage in getting yet another rematch until he finally does defeat Jarrett.

X-Division Finals: Chris Saban v. Alex Shelley: Best match of the night.. I'm hoping. I was wishing for this the instant I seen the brackets for the Tournament, and the only thing that was remotely capable of screwing it up was Eric Young. Thankfully that's no longer a question.

My only new hope is that Foley didn't stumble upon anything with the thought that Saban and Shelley could lay down for each other. I want Alex Shelley to win because he hasn't won the title before, but in the end I wouldn't be surprised if Homicide somehow enters into this match and comes out with the title all together. Or if Shelley & Saban put on a great contest, only for Homicide to cash in after the Guns are tired.

Triple Threat Tag Team Championships: Jay Lethal & Austin Creed (c) v. Beer Money v. Matt Morgan & Abyss: I wasn't shocked to see Beer Money drop the straps to Lethal-Creed, but I would be shocked to see anything other than Lethal-Creed retain.

Abyss WILL turn on Morgan before it's all said and done, and we'll finally have the old Abyss back. It'll be nice for a time, then get boring again.

Meanwhile, what's the deal with Beer Money? It's like the moment when I've finally adapted to liking them as a duo, the time when they've just did a rough cut segment about them.. and bam.. they drop the titles and go back to having no purpose anymore. Typical T.N.A. shit.

LumberJill Match - Knockout's Championship: Awesome Kong (c) v. Christy Hemme: If Hemme wins the Knockout's Championship will instantly be turned to shit. I don't care if Styles has been clashing with her.. Kong dropping to yet another grossly overrated female is only going to put the final nail in the coffin of Kong's career.

I think everything will break down and either a new Knockout will debut, or Suicide will come out and challenge for the title. It could happen, it's T.N.A.

Kong retains in the end. I'm 90% sure of it.

Grudge Match: Shane Sewell v. Sheik Abdul Bashir: Believe it or not, I'm looking forward to this match. For monthes I've wanted to see why they were pushing a Referee.. now I get my chance. Will I be disappointed? Probably.. but I'm at least open to it.

Bashir is growing boring and tiresome with this attacking of the Official crap. I wouldn't be surprised if whomever is reffing the match helps Sewell win in the end anyways. Second best match of the night.. :lmao:

Final Thoughts: Overall, I miss Christopher Daniels.. I want him to return, and a mysterious "injury" that prevents Brother Devon from competing and opens the door for Styles to replace him would be perfect.. but likely won't ever happen.

This card is only getting moderately over because of Jarrett. And that's not actually saying a lot. Shelley/Saban is the real reason I'm getting it.. outside of the fact that I get all of them anyways.

I could care less about Foley. I would've rather seen Foley v. Snow, that would've at least been entertaining more so than a 6-man with Nash, Booker & Steiner on the opposite end.

The Tag team match should be good, but I won't hold my breath. I still can't stand Morgan and he's doing nothing but ruining Abyss. Well, him and creative.

I've given up on the Knockout's lately, but here's to hoping Hemme's boob pops out, or the Beautiful People somehow get more spotlight. I'd really like to see Melissa turn on Kong, but it's likely not coming. In the end, it'll be a Pay per view forgotten by March.

This card makes me sad, very very sad. TNA went from being fresh and entertaining to overly gimmicked, to potential with a good feud, to absolutely boring. This is what I see when I look at this card.
TNA Championship: This is your main title and its honestly the third main event. Your telling me Rhino wouldn't fit in better in the 6 slow man fest later on in the evening and a 20 minute AJ v. Sting match wouldn't draw for this show? I just saw Rhino in what should be his element a no holds barred match at a indy show and he simply just looked slow. In what could of been a decent match the only thing i remember is him taking a bump and rolling down the bleachers. There is one way to turn around his career and its not working with Sting, its hitting second rope piledrivers on people through tables. Stop thinking your Paul E. Hayman screaming Gore three times into a microphone that echos your voice to even more levels of unnecessary. Your character is a badass who beats up people and when you were at your best you had moves like the Rhino driver. As for this match, Sting carries it forever or at least what seems like forever, Rhino gets in some offense out of nowhere then there is a distraction and Sting wins and throws a hissyfit towards the MEM.

Jarret v. Angle:
Is it bad that Angle is boring me? I know your a great worker but you have no varitety to your work. Its the same stuff over and over every match, and when it is a rematch I've seen it happening with the same person. As for Jeff, I'm a fan at the core so I can't bad mouth him, but he needs to put in some serious in ring time to be back where he was before all the tragedy. I really do root for the guy cause he seems like he cares. Also, he is willing to try to put over younger talent, like when he tried to come back a year ago and put over Roode, before his family tragedy struck. So even though I think this match is another snoozefest I'm predicting a no contest and a lot of blood, or at least I hope so just so its different from last time.

6 man tag: AJ and Booker need to carry this. Steiner and Nash just haven't seem to be 100% in years, and Devon can be explosive but without Ray he always seemed lost to me. As for Mick I like him being brought back in a tag match but not this one. I agree that MEM win when someone pins Devon after the hot tag to Foley goes nowhere and AJ spends a very long time in the ring

Knockout title match:
Christy is improving but she can't hold a title and lead a division. She fits very well as a chaser and I know they needed someone to take Gail Kim's place, but I think I would have went in a different directions. I hope Kong wins but this Kongtourage idea is pointless and just makes an unstoppable force look weak

Tag title match:
There is no way Lethal Consequences can lose this match. Its also to early for the Frontline to get gold but the angle is starting to fail so might as well change it up. Roode's "knee" injury leads to a rollup and I agree that this is where Abyss and Morgan start to fight leaving the tag division with no real contenders.

X Division title:
I'm going to leave homicide out of the equation here for now. By far should be the show stealer and I think Shelley does something slightly underhanded to pick up the win in the end.

Sewell v. Bashir
This is the best build up they have had for a match in a while which is sad. Sewell wins I'll leave judgment till i see him put on a whole match.

Overall
I kinda hope both LAX members cash in the briefcases post match. I think even a month long reign by Hernandez could give us something fresh and maybe bring in a new element to TNA. Plus it could lead to the Sting/MEM break up and a change in direction of the MEM/Frontline angle with Sting as the ture crow character attacking every side. It probably won't happen but the Homicide cash in will and the show will suck, but i'll have it on my comp in the background as I watch 24

I really hope I'm wrong

All I can say is.. wow. This is the best PPV card they could offer us? That's sad, and I really would have no interest paying for this PPV because nothing on it interests me enough to waste money on it. But I will waste my time giving my opinions on it!

T.N.A. Heavyweight Championship: Sting (c) v. Rhino:
Certainly not going to sell a PPV. The build up to this match wasn't even that great as it was, but whose going to buy a PPV for this main event? Because its TNA, I could see Rhino winning the championship only to lose it in a day or a week to someone else in the Main Event Mafia such as Kurt Angle. This would obviously lead to friction between Sting/Angle and push the MEM storyline down our throats for another few months. And it would also put Jarrett in the title hunt, which I believe he loves to be in.

But in the end I still think, as always, the MEM are just going to dominate and I'm bored already...

6-Man Tag Team Grudge Match: Mick Foley, A.J. Styles & Brother Devon v. Kevin Nash, Booker T. & Scott Steiner: This certainly isn't going to be the best wrestling match on the card. I see one of the two things happening (because its TNA)... one: Bubba Ray is going to make a dramatic return and he and Devon are going to screw the Frontline and join the MEM in an unforgettable swerve. Two: Mick Foley is going to turn on the Frontline and join the MEM and be the financial backing of them to oppose Jarrett being the owner of TNA to make this storyline seem all the more like the nWo. Either way, I see the MEM winning Somehow because I don't have faith in TNA to actually give the Frontline a bone.

The ReMatch: Jeff Jarrett v. Kurt Angle:
Wasn't interested in the first match, certainly am not interested in this one. Jarrett bores me. I see Angle winning, once again to give MEM dominance on PPV.

Triple Threat Tag Team Championships: Jay Lethal & Austin Creed (c) v. Beer Money v. Matt Morgan & Abyss:
I'm assuming Lethal and Creed will retain here and their title reign won't be a mere few days and rather pointless if they lose it back to Beer Money. But with TNA you never know! I'm predicting that Lethal/Creed do retain and if Team 3D did join the MEM they'd have a ready made feud with the Frontline over the tag team titles and could win the tag team titles to add, of course, to the dominance of MEM.

LumberJill Match - Knockout's Championship:
Don't care.

Grudge Match: Shane Sewell v. Sheik Abdul Bashir:
I haven't seen Sewell wrestle before so this match is interesting from the perspective it would be the first true showing of his ability on television. I do see Sewell winning here in his debut, since he's becoming a fixture as a wrestler in TNA.. and from here I see Sewel moving on to obscurity.

--

As I'm watching the PPV, and it's being discussed that Rhino is likely going to miss the World Heavyweight Championship match with Sting. I got to thinking, who could a viable replacement that would make TNA suddenly have this below average PPV go through the roof?

Then I suddenly realized where they are, Charlotte, North Carolina. How big would it be if they brought in Ric Flair to wrestle Sting in their main event? That would be the biggest moment in TNA history. Even bigger if Flair wins the Championship.

It may not happen, but if it does, it would be huge.

TheOneBigWill's 'take' on T.N.A. Genesis, January 11th, 2009:

1. 6-Man Elimination Tag Team Match: Eric Young & L.A.X. v. Sonjay Dutt, Jimmy Rave & Kiyoshi:
Before the Pay per view it was reported that this was originally suppose to be an 8 man tag team contest. The two individuals taken from the match were Lance Rock, and Cute Kip. (who later we find out why. lol)

I'll be the first to admit I half-assed watched this match. This is T.N.A.'s answer to how to help struggling ratings. "Let's just slap all the remaining talent in a huge tag cluster." Basically put, this match helped noone except Hernandez.

In the end, it came down to all three members of the heel side of things, against big Hernandez. And wouldn't you know it, the big man holding a World title shot opportunity, eliminates all three cruiserweights and wins the match for his team. Winners: Eric Young & L.A.X.

2. X-Division Championship Finals: Chris Saban v. Alex Shelley:
Match of the Night! I knew this match would not disappoint (barring creative) and thankfully it definately DID NOT! What a match, and the only two parts of it that I wish could've been slightly different were the commentary of Don West.. in which he continuously said "At least this is such a great match, it keeps our minds off Rhino & Kevin Nash not being here." (well, it WOULD be a great match if you'd shut the fuck up already and enjoy it.)

The other issue I had, was the finish of the match. Here you have arguably the best two (active) X-Division Superstars going one-on-one, and the ending is a sneaky roll-up. I'm not arguing that it'll continue a storyline, and possibly drive a wedge between the Guns.. but the match was so great, it deserved a better ending than that. A roll-up would've been fine, just not the way it happened, that's all I'm saying. Overall though, best match of the night, bar-none. Shelley deserves the title, and I'm glad he got it. Winner & NEW X-Division Champion: Alex Shelley

3. Grudge Match: Shane Sewell v. Sheik Abdul Bashir:
You can laugh, you can snicker, you can do anything you want.. but this was literally one of the matches I wanted to see. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as good as I'd hoped it'd turn out to be.

Keep in mind, I didn't actually think it was going to be "amazing" to begin with, but even for average expectations, it still didn't draw that. The thing I thought was a bit silly.. Shane Sewell, just because he was a (former) referee, doesn't mean he has to represent them through his attire. He was apparently a wrestler before being an official, are you telling me he dressed like that as a wrestler pre-hand? bah.

The thing I find funny about officials-turned-wrestlers is that they should know the rules, so they'll either break them by doing things how they know officials can't check, or they'll follow the rules. Sewell did neither. He broke the rules, but blatantly, which was stupid.

In the end, it was the in-ring official, Earl Hebner, who helped Sewell get a victory. Knowing T.N.A., this should push forward the expected Hebner v. Bashir, Bound For Glory match-up that's expected to send ratings through the roof. Winner: Shane Sewell

4. Triple Threat Tag Team Championships: Jay Lethal & Consequences Creed (c) v. Matt Morgan & Abyss v. Beer Money, Inc.:
Tied with being the second best match of the night. I had hope that this match would be classic, and it honestly was.

The in-match rivalry is setting up to be Matt Morgan against Abyss, and by match's end, that's definately the way I believe it'll go. Lethal Consequences is a good tag team, and I'm definately believing they'll be Champions again, but tonight wasn't their night, and the tandem of Beer and Money does it again.

I thought this was honestly one of the best tag team contests I've seen in a while. A lot of nice double team, tag team warfare going on. Even the double team on Jackie was hilarious.. Roode thought so too. :lmao: In the end, the victory set up a possible Lethal/Creed v. Beer Money feud, because it was Morgan (w/ help from Abyss by accident) who took the pinfall loss to Beer Money, to help them regain what they lost unjustly. Winners & NEW Tag Team Champions: Beer Money, Inc.

5. 6-Knockout Tag Team Match: O.D.B., Roxxi & Taylor Wilde v. Kong-tourage:
Several different reports had Kong defending her Championship against another opponent. Apparently from the time that was reported, up until the Pay per view started they changed their minds. It was then reported that the individual who picks up the pinfall, on the face side that is, would earn a Championship shot down the road. (*cough* iMPACT! *cough*)

I have next to nothing to say about this match-up. First, Taylor Wilde is a thing of the past and realistically and likely on her way to becoming a stepping stone for every other heel Knockout in the company. Second, why the fuck is Sojourner (dispise the name) Bolt even being an on-air Knockout? Really? The Beautiful People couldn't of somehow made their way into this match? Really.. :disappointed:

Finally, Roxxi.. poor, poor Roxxi. Here's a girl who had her head shaved, and since hasn't gotten shit for it other than likely a single status in the relationship column. Why can't T.N.A. fricken at least give her a solid CHANCE to win the damn title. Hell, I'm not even saying for her TO win the title, I'm just saying for all she's done.. a title SHOT is at least worth mentioning. Instead, it's O.D.B. who picks up the victory and likely soon to be the next Champion.

After the match, Kong comes out, a brawl happens with everyone and the Kong-tourage leaves the faces laying. Winners: O.D.B., Roxxi & Taylor Wilde

6. Return Match: Jeff Jarrett v. Kurt Angle:
Tied for second best match of the night. I had doubts that Jarrett & Angle could even remotely have another decent match, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Somehow this match was turned into a No Disqualifications contest, and I think that's truly what helped it. Jarrett ended up busted open, ala Ric Flair style in Carolina, and that added to the element of the match. In the end, it was a series of nicely contested moves, signatures, finishers and chair shots that was nicely put together.

Kurt Angle won the match the way I'd hoped the X-Division match would've ended. After Jarrett only got a 2-count, Angle quickly reversed Jarrett into a quick pin and got the victory. After the match, Angle wasn't happy with just getting the victory, he "breaks" Jarrett's ankle in a steal chair by a series of vicious foot-stomps onto the chair, which was wrapped around Jarrett's ankle. Winner: Kurt Angle

7. T.N.A. Heavyweight Championship: Sting (c) v. Rhino:
What a letdown. You know, let me just get this straight. Rhino, who was jobbing to Bashir about 2-3 monthes ago, is now in a World Heavyweight title match against Sting.. Sting.. allow me to repeat.. STING!

And they run a perfect storyline to take Rhino, who shouldn't of been in the match to begin with, out of the picture. They have the perfect set-up to bring in Ric Flair, IN CAROLINA, to face Sting.. his arch-rival.. but nooooo, NOOOO, fucking hell nooooo.. they bring Rhino in mid-show, busted up, bloodied, broken, beaten.. oh.. he'll compete.

So.. let's recap.. Sting.. STING.. only just barely can beat Rhino.. allow me to repeat.. RHINO, because he was beaten, bloodied, and left for dead before the show. Nice. Not only have I lost respect for T.N.A. creative for dropping a major ball here.. but in truth, unless Sting says "fuck this, I quit".. I've lost respect for Sting, for even agreeing with the idea that he's not good enough to defeat Rhino unless they run an angle that has Rhino already pre-defeated to begin with. Piss poor. Winner: Sting

8. Main Event: 6-Man Tag Team Match: M.E.M. (Scott Steiner & Booker T.) w/ Cute Kip v. Frontline (Brother Devon & A.J. Styles) w/ Mick Foley:
Second time within 30 minutes where T.N.A. creative majorly drops a ball. M.E.M., without Kevin "injury prone" Nash ends up being taken from the match. So they have a great position to either bring in a 'legend' or at least a SUITABLE replacement, fuck even Sting who didn't hardly compete should've came in.. but no.. they bring in Cute fucking Kip James. I guarantee you when Mick Foley seen Kip James being announced, he damn near soiled his sock. :disappointed:

So the match, boring as ever, ends originally because the referee counts everyone out. I was thankful it was over then, I didn't give a shit about a countout, it was over. But no, Cornette comes out and says the match will continue. Booker disagrees, as did I, but no, Mick Foley says it'll continue under hardcore (gimmick) rules. Oh yeah.. that'll save it.

So, after a bunch of trash gets involved in the match.. and weapons too, and after a series of spots, including Styles going through a table and Foley continuing the "white-supremacy" over Devon by forcing him to get a table.. the match horribly ends with a sock in the Legend's Champion's mouth, and a badly done ddt to Scott Steiner half-way on a chair. Winners: Frontline (A.J. Styles & Brother Devon) w/ Mick Foley

Overall Thoughts: I didn't have a lot of hope that T.N.A. was going to make this Pay per view anything great, but I can guarantee you one thing.. if this is a sign of how 2009 is going to go for T.N.A.. they won't likely make it to 2010.

You know, the one thing that annoyed me more than anything was Mike f'n Tennay. At the end, after Foley wins the 6-man.. he's yelling his head of.. "M.E.M. may of won the battle, but Frontline won the war!!!!" How the fuck do you figure that?!

Kurt Angle defeated the OWNER of T.N.A., Jeff Jarrett.. then broke his ankle. Sting RETAINED his World Heavyweight Championship against Rhino, and then the Frontline won a 6-man Tag team match.. that had Cute Kip involved as a replacement on the M.E.M. side. Where the fuck did Mike Tennay get that wild ass idea that the war was won by Frontline off a 6-man.. oh wait, it's T.N.A.. whoever wins the mult-clustered tag match, wins everything. I forgot, excuse me.

Horrible Pay per view as it went on. X-Division, Triple Threat Tag match, and the Jarrett/Angle match were all that was worth caring about on this p.p.v. 3 outta 10.

Darkshot77's review of Genesis 2009

The PPV was ok in some parts but for the most part like most TNA PPV's i was left wanting more.

6 Man Elimination Tag Match-I was an opener and nothing more. Lots of action, ending with Hernandez squashing 3 lightweights. This better lead to something for Super Mex, if not TNA wases more of our time.

Shelly vs. Sabin: X Division Title-This was in my opinion the Match of the Night. And the MVW award goes to Alex Shelly. Lots of Amazing action from both, all over the place. These boys put on a clinic. In the end Shelly Pulls and underhanded tactic and finnally gets the belt. Unfortuantely this may lead to a break up. The ending left me wanting more, but it was a very good match.

Shane Sewell vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir-Eh, not a strong showing from both parties. I was not intersted in this match at all and it delivered the sub par performance i was expecting. NOw for future refeance when the MEM breaks down expect to see Shane Sewell Legends Champ.

Tag Team Triple Threat-I can honestly with out a doubt say that if the match didnt have Abyss and Matt Morgon, it would have been so much better. Then TNA just decided that...well i dont know what they diceied back stage all i know is taht it translated in to making the feast or fired cases worthless. Last year only Petey won a title and had a meaningful reign. Now Creede and Leathal have their shot wasted to what extend a Beer money reign...that at the moment is stagnent cause with an ending program to Abyss and Morgon and having them beaten all the rest of the tag teams. They go no where. Way to put a talented tag division to waste.

6 Woman Kockouts match-Rhaka Khan cant wrestle, so she neds to be dropped...now. *begininig of rant* Again with the missed opertunities TNA. In my opinion TNA got an amazing talent, and body i might add, in Cheerleader Melissa. Yes she is squandered as Saeed. This was the perfect opertunity for TNA to put an accually good talent as their figure head. Kong has been a bore, the beautiful people are out of the question, and any way you slice it ODB is ugly. Christy would have been a good choice for champ but because of an injury that cant happen. So IMO Saeed or Roxxi, you know accual wrestling talent, should have gotten a pin. A face turn later and Melissa could have been part of TNA but no they go with ODB, guess crowd reaction is that important. *end of rant*

Jarret vs. Angle-It was decent, but I really wasn't into it. I in fatc didntpay much attention to the "Main event" section of the PPV. I was tired. Angle wins goes on a rampage, blah blah blah.

Rhino vs. Sting-Did Rhino ever have a shot of wining this match...no...thats what i thought. The Scorpion Death Drop is a weak finisher. This happens to alot of older wrestlers when the finisheing move is a basteredised as the reverse DDT it loses it flavor. But again I wasnt really watching.

Mick Foley, AJ Styles, & Brother Devon vs. TNA Legends Champion Booker T, Cute Kip, & Scott Steiner-Cant say i was really intested in this match either. THis might might be a first but the match was worse when it went hardcore rules. And is it really that hard to properly perform a chairshot and a DDT with a sock on the arm, seriously Mick, try harder.

Final thoughts: In the end TNA starts off strong and ends weak, this is a common trend with them, I leave indifferent

Final Rating: 3/10

One more small tid-bit of useless information.. during the opening Tag team match, did anyone else hear the misques of the T.N.A. employee's cutting in over Tennay & West's broadcast? :lmao:

Now THAT was fucking classic.. some guy was going off about being blamed for something, as if "he" owned the company. I busted out laughing.. and the truly funny part is, that single voice-over was better than the entire night of broadcasting.

It's a shame really, that poor bastard is likely gonna get fired.. because it's not his company. :lmao:

Thought I'd take a crack at a review.

Opening match-Thrown on at the last second and for one reason: Hernandez. He was the total focal point of this match and that's what he should have been. It wasn't supposed to be anything mind blowing, but it got the job done. He's being built up as a beast, and TNA did the right thing with a fast opener and a big strong guy that got the crowd awake. Well done.

X-Division Title-Good match as well. TNA is allegedly known for its X-division and home grown stars, so this was about as perfect as they could have gone with. You have two homegrown stars in a fairly fast paced X-division match. Seriously what more could you ask for. Slightly heelish finish by Shelley is a nice little thing to put the wedge in there so I approve. Not to mention, extra credit to TNA to allow Shelly to have his moment and not throw Homicide out there to steal the belt.

Sewell/Bashir-What were you really expecting here? It went on too long and the crowd didn't seem to be into it. The best part was the outfit. That's Danny Davis 2.0, which is nothing but classic.

Tag Titles-I've said my thoughts on this already, but i'll repeat them here. I don't like the ending of this. It makes Lethal and Creed more or less look weaker than they made them look on Impact and wasted the case. It was bad enough that they beat a broken down Beer Money in a long match, but now they lose the titles 3 days later? I get that they're going towards the feud here, but why not let Beer Money win the regular two on two match here, then Lethal and Creed run out and win a fast one. They have the belts so Beer Money has a reason to want to continue, and Morgan and Abyss are no worse than they are already.

Knockouts Match-Given something of a pass because of the last second change of plans. Fairly obvious that Hemme would get the belt either here or at the next chance she had at it, so now things are all in the air. Kong as champion just isn't working this time, because we've seen it all before. Even the amazingly sexy Rhaka Khan can't save this, and I really have no clue where tehy're going next.

Jarrett vs. Angle-loved it. This match had the big match feel and should have gone on last, but leave it to TNA to put the best of the triple main event first. Great performance from both men, and I've said it before and I'll say it again. In wrestling there are few things sweeter than when the Slam doesn't work and Angle goes for the ankle with everything he's got. Best match all night and should have been the main event.

World Title-Ummm, what is TNA on, because I want some of it. Rhyno as the challenger was fine, but what in the name of heaven was the point in having him be beaten down earlier to just let him nearly win over Sting? TNA does this constantly: they make the champion look weak. He's the top guy and allegedly top heel. Sting is supposed to be the #1 draw there and he barely can beat a broken Rhyno? What in the hell? Are we supposed to believe he can beat guys like Styles when they're fresh?

Main Event-holy hell I wanted to smack whoever booked this with a fish. Cute Kip. My god in heaven what were they thinking??? There's not one heel that can come out there for this match? You mean you couldn't have had Devon get attacked and had Foley and Styles against Booker and Steiner? That would have made so much more sense. It looks like Kip is in the Mafia. That's the best they can do? FOley left WWE for this? WOW. Awful match on top of awful booking.

Now, after all that, there's one thing left on my mind: WHERE WAS JOE??? I get that he was beaten down like a month ago, but come on. With Nash out, you couldn't get him on a damn plane and throw him in the main event? This guy is supposed to be one of your top draws and Kip freaking James goes in the main event over him? I'm sorry but that just doesn't work for me. This guy has been the new Rico for 4 months and now he's a bad ass again? No way. Not a chance in hell do I accept that as a good reason to allow him back into the main event. TNA, this was awful. You're better than this.

Genesis had so much promise going on but ended up being somewhat of a major let down....Let's begin.

6-Man Elimination Tag Match- Ok, but not great. I forgot it was elimination until they said the match had gone 10 minutes without an elimination. Of course it was going to be three against one with Hernandez being the sole survivor, but he was impressive nonetheless.

Sabin v. Shelley- Match of the night. I thought they would hold back a little since they are tag team partners but I was wrong. Many close pinfalls throughout and Shelley won with a roll-up. Disappointed in the way he won it but I rather have him win in that fashion that Sabin. Hopefully this would be the match that gets the X-division back on track.

Sewell v. Bashir- Boring. Bashir gets in Hebner's face, Hebner slaps him and Sewell wins.

Triple Threat Tag Match- Roode is awesome, Lethal and Creed can become a decent tag team, and Abyss needs to turn on Morgan. Good match and Beer Money wins the tag team championship.

Knockout Tag Match- ODB pins somebody and wins the title shot against Kong...All I have to say about that

Jarrett v. Angle- Better match than at Bound for Glory since it was a No DQ. Great match and intensity throughout and I thought Jarrett was going win which I didn't want to see. Angle wins and proceeds to further injure Jarrett's ankle. Funniest part was Tenay talking about it. Looked like he was going to cry.

Sting v. Rhyno- Worst main event of the year. Sting wins.

Foley, Devon, Styles v. Booker, Steiner, and Kip James- Seriously Kip James. I would have had Scott Hall then Kip. Match was boring even it being a hardcore match. Everybody was awful and even Styles couldn't save this match. Foley pins Steiner for the win.

Overall I give this a C+ and thats being generous. Sabin v. Shelley and Jarrett v. Angle were the only good things. The last hour was just horrendous.

Well it's not like I;ve got anything better to do

6 man elimination tag.

There honestly wasn't anything wrong with this match, and as an unadvertised addition to the card I thought it was a pleasant surprise. Certainly served it's purpose which was to push Hernandez, and I've got to give TNA credit for their elimination tag matches. They've had a few recently, including that memorable 12 man affair during the world X cup, and they always hold of on the early eliminations to avoid making guys look like jokes.
After a litany of competent singles competitors irrationally getting eliminated from bad survivor series matches in 5 minutes, this is a pleasant evolution.
Overall, a solid if unremarkable match.

Sabin V Shelly - X-Division title.

Shit. Seriously. I had high hopes for this match, but it turned out to be a demonstration of everything that's wrong with neo-technical wrestling. The hold for hold routines were impressive, but they were also slow, wooden and both guys showed no aptitude for selling the application of a hold.
It's an established fact (that is to say, it's something Disco once said) that a lot of the younger guys have difficulty with the concept of selling rest holds, and this felt like a point for point demonstration of what he was talking about.
Seriously, for the opening 10 minutes of the contest, I thought I was watching an angle where both of the Guns were "working" a match, that how bad it was.

Once we got past the abysmal attempt at mat wrestling, the match picked up and just about had me interested by the end. Certainly provided a few good moments for the highlights reel, but at the end of the day, given how much people were hyping this confrontation, this was one of the biggest disappointments of the night. I'm certainly no longer excited for the prospect of a program between the Guns. Let them stick to what they're good at.

Sewell V Bashir

About what I was expecting. It'd have been helped no end if they'd filmed the PPV in the Impact zone. This was the kind of match that needed crowd feet to lend in intensity, and with a group of fans who didn't appear to watch the product, it fell flat.
Once again, nothing wrong (aside from the lame finish) and it was a nice moment having all the refs come out to celebrate with Shane Sewell after the match.

Beer Money V Abyss & Morgan V Lethal and Creed - Tag Titles

Err... it was good. Nothing special. Not as good as recent tag team contests, but it was an enjoyable match that did what it was supposed to do.
Some body's likely to complain that flipping the belts back undermined the tag titles or something, but that's always been a stupid argument that I've never understood.

At the risk of striking a tone, there was nothing wrong with the match, but it wasn't on the level that tag wrestling in TNA has been achieving recently.

Knockouts

Don't care very much. Would have enjoyed seeing Christy Hemme win the title. I view her as less shit that most. Filler that I'm not going to comment on too much. I'll just say I hope they don't do a program where the "Kongtorage" joins with the main event mafia.

Jarrett V Angle

Holy shit this was good! After so many years of wrestling, it's incredibly rare for a match to truly hook me in these days, but this one managed it. I swear to god, Angle keeps getting better and better recently, and anyone who doesn't think Jarrett can still just needs to look at this match. Angle can carry anybody to a good match, but you can't carry anybody to a match this good.

Jarrett blading big and taking so many stiff shots gave this a phenomenal level of intensities, and the crappy crowd finally came alive to push this match to the level of early MotY candidate.

The only objection I have is the finish. A feud this hot shouldn't have ended with a roll up victory two matches before the end of the card. Angle should have snapped Jarrett's ankle in the main event, made him tap out, then gone Pillman on his ass to close out the final stage of Main Event Mafia dominance. Overall through, the show was worth it for this one match alone, and it was a good thing two, because things whet to shit form here.

Rhino V Sting - TNA Heavyweight Championship

Sting can still go. Rhino can still go. Sadly, neither man can still go well enough to put on decent title match against one another. It didn't help that the old school crowd were totally into Sting, nor did it help that the match wasn't very good.

Foley, Devon and AJ V Steiner, Booker and Kip James

You've got to be fucking kidding me. I normally take every effort to defend TNA and all the guys in it people rip on (I'm a stoic supporter of guys like Brother Ray and Kevin Nash) but when you put Devon Dudley and Kip 'motherfucking' James, in the main event of a pay per view, and don't even surround them with guys who can carry them to a good match, your asking to be shit on.

The opening minutes were utterly horrible. You could tell AJ was doing his best to make things entertaining, but there's a limit to what one man can do to a match to this type. After things went all ECW it picked up a little, but onto to the state where I'd have accepted it (Sans Kip James and being the main event).

This really ended the show on a sour note for me, and put me off buying the next one.

It they'd called in someone like Rick Steiner... or anyone who wasn't Kip James, and reversed the order to the last three matches on the card, I would almost certainly have come away as a happier customer. As it is, I'll remember this show as nothing more than a ruby in a mountain of rocks (But there ain't no coupe de ville hiding at the bottom of a cracker jack box), and nothing more.

Meh.

I don't think people can complain too much about Cute Kip being added to the match. He's a poor substitute, but they've backed themselves into a corner with the Main Event Mafia name. Unlike a lot of other people they could have added, at least Kip James was a TNA main eventer for a short period of time. Although simply removing D'Von from the match probably would have worked better.

It's really rather sad that TNA decided to put the belts on Creed & Lethal for a couple of days, but they never did the same with the Machine Guns. At least Shelley & Sabin have shirts dedicated to their team, in all likelihood they'll probably never team again.

I can't remember the last time a TNA mid card title changed hands on a PPV. But I can remeber the last time a main event was changed at last minute.
