The Fifth Element

Dean Winchester

Getting Noticed By Management
Does anyone like this action-science fiction film? I mean sure Bruce Willis as usual is a badass in the film and Gary Oldman is Gary Oldman, but is this movie really a good film? The alien creatures looked like crap, the plot was confusing and movie was a little down right weird. What does anyone esle think?

I think I speak for a few people when I say its a very enjoyable film up until Chris Tucker shows up.

Enjoyable, great set and costume design.

This pretty much sums it up

Costume design was fine, not to mention that shouldn't be what is used to determine whether or not a movie was good or not

No I think the movie was not that good because of the confusing plot and uninteresting characters outside of Corben Dallas and Zorg.

It's really not that confusing if you actually pay attention to the movie, but I've seen what you consider a "good film" you seem like some who has the attention span of a nat, prolly a huge Micheal Bay fan

Wow really? Because I said The Warriors was a good film, Boondock Saints I have a attention span of a nat? Those are good films, good, fun and entertaining. No they not one of the greatest films of all time but still good fans. And no I'am not a Micheal Bay fan as I think he has destroyed the Transformers series. And you must have the attention span of a nat since the Fifth Element is pretty much a mindless action flick too.

How is The Fifth Element a mindless action flick? It isn't complicated, but its not some dumbed down sci-fi actioner.

Perhaps as soon as you're done contradicting yourself you can make up your mind, you're biggest problem with the movie seems to be that you thought the creatures "looked like crap", there is literally nothing wrong with the way the creatures look, the special FX are pretty much on par with any other movie that came out around that time with a similar budget, and the plot was fairly easy to follow as long as you paid attention to the movie

To this day I still enjoy watching this movie, it was actually on TV just a couple days ago. Its one of my favorite Willis movies, and aside from Chris Tucker being superbly annoying I think the movie is quite entertaining.

What exactly was hard to follow about the plot? Evil Entity wants to destroy the universe. The protectors hide 4 stones that represent the elements on earth. The stones are gathered (at the beginning of the movie) and the 5th Element, LeeLoo is created with a mission to find the stones and stop the evil entity. Add in a whole bunch of middle plotlines about Zorg working with the evil entity, weapons that can do everything possible and blow up if you click the red button, an alien opera, and a whole bunch of fun

The special effects, costum/set design are all on par if not above alot of what was being done at its time. And the movie never took itself too serious.

Plot dumb because why Evil Entity wanted to destroy the universe?...every evil thing whether its a force or human has to have a reason to why it wants to destroy something. Why Zorg who was a billionaire wanted to destroy mankind when he had wealth, power and fame. Also film was a mindless action flick, mostly every scene in the film had action in it.

He wanted the stones to sell to "The Great Evil". Yeah he's already rich and he does live on Earth and it doesn't make sense. But it doesn't make sense that Gandalf didn't just fly on an eagle into Mordor and throw the ring into the pit of lava. Get over the plot hole. Plus it's just a movie, if you didn't like it, you never have to watch it again.

I personally loved this film and I thought Chris Tucker was hilarious in it. One of the only films I can stand him in. "Oh my god, Korben! Korben, Korben, oh my god! He got a gun Korben!" Great stuff and such an outlandish character. Not every movie has to follow the rules of "moviedom". It's good to have movies that are out of the box once in a while. I thought it was a great movie and not only were Willis and Oldman great in it but so were Milla Jovavich and Chris Tucker.

Lol wasn't it the dwarfs who had to take to instead because it was their destiny? If so thats the reason, no reason why Zorg wanna help the darkness destroy mankind. And I love films that are out of the box, but this was a average at best film out of the box.

It was the hobbits. Frodo to be exact, with the help of Sam. I'm just saying, a lot of things in movies could be done differently and easier and it would make more sense. It's just a simple fact that a lot of things in movies make no sense whatsoever.

I always enjoyed it personally. Decent cast, half decent storyline, enjoyable action sequences, just a decent movie to throw on if you've got an hour and a half with nothing to do.

Is it worthy of awards or will it stand as one of the greatest films ever made? Of course not. But i'd still say it's in the same sort of leagues as say Back To The Future as a fun, entertaining movie that you'd probably watch again simply to pass time.

And i don't see how you can say it was confusing. Evil entity wants to destroy the universe..... because it's evil! Duh! Why did Zorg help him? Because Zorg's a money grabbing idiot who think's he'll be spared? Or because he's accomplished everything he wanted to, so he may as well help destory everything for everyone else?

I always liked this movie personally. I never was one for sci-fi action flicks, but it never really gave off that kinda vibe to me. It wasn't one of those "You have to be into the Sci Fi genre" to understand kinda feels. Whether you just like action, or the gear, or just needed something to watch, there was something that could entertain you about anything in this movie. I always watch it whenever it is on television. I think the casting was great, Gary Oldman is the perpetually great bad man, and Milla Jovovich as the heroine, and Bruce Willis at the bad-ass hero both of them saving the galaxy. Chris Tucker, of course, he's going to rub some people the wrong way, how can you not with that voice, but you need some more comedy besides Bruce's one liners every 15 minutes, but its not a bad movie, and since I'm not a Trekkie, or Star Wars person, so I am one that will rank this up there as a great 'sci-fi' movie technically.
