The Evolution of D. Bryan

Occasional Pre-Show
I was thinking about how stale Bryan's character is becoming already.. <insert your no he isn't argument here> I got to thinking about what they can do with him. I kinda think they can do a Eddie Guerrero/DX type thing with him.. Make him lie, cheat, and steal. Which would be really easy to get him there. Just have him get tired of doing the right thing and getting squashed. A good guy with a evilish streak in him do to his circumstance. Have him do whatever it takes to screw the man(HHH and Orton). Which would let Byran have more mic time and let the little guy get 1 over on the big bad HHH. Now i know some people will say that Byrans wrestling ability doesn't make him have to cheat.. I will only say that Eddie was just as good if not leagues above Bryan.. How funny would it be to watch Bryan screw Orton out of every match he is in. Not to mention this will let HHH get on the receiving end of some of the crap he has does to Vince over the years. They can have HBK come in to help Bryan out. Which makes it even better.. Even if they PG it down I think it can work if written correctly and allowed to be what is, and not squashed after the first time Bryan gets over..

The crowds don't really seem to agree with you. This is a relatively new storyline with legs that could reach into places the WWE has not been in a while. Even if you happen to dislike it, you might like the additional general public interest in wrestling.

It could work and be a decent method for Bryan to navigate himself around HHH and his power. However, Bryan seems to be doing well as it is. He is already over so this would merely be a method for him to win a few more matches.

Really? Out of all of the Main Event superstars, right now, in this very moment, you would want Daniel Bryan revamped? You think he's the blandest one on the roster, are you positively sure?

Because I don't see it. I'm not going the "no he's not" argument, but I will say if you're already bored with Bryan, your attention span must be pretty short. The man is getting the best reaction right now. He arguably doesn't have the best gimmick, I can agree with that. But he is over more than any face is right now. In his position, he is King.

He doesn't need to evolve in his current situation, least of all to a Guerrero ripoff. I can name at least 5 superstars (probably more) who need to refresh their angle before Bryan should. And I think you could too.

OH MY GOD! Bryan is a face now! What the bloody hell! Everybody stop liking him. Make him a heel or else. I'm warning you WWE; we are the IWC and we are all powerful. We will boo your top face to the ground and start cheering the top heel. (sarcasm)

What's up with so many people dumping the "Super Cena" logic from years ago onto Bryan so fast. It took 2 years of Cena doing this stuff for you guys to turn on him.

All I'm seeing is that you desperately want Eddie Guerrero back from the grave. Bryan doesn't need to become Eddie 2.0. He is Bryan 1.0, and his character is unique and fresh in my opinion.

Ok I never said this had to happen right now... I said this could be the next evolution of his character,,, HUGE difference there, I do believe, don't mess with it if it is working. and he is.. But that being said EVERY single wrestling star has gotten stale/played out or whatever you would like to call it.. I was just making a suggestion about how to handle him when that did happen. Now i believe he is starting to get there faster rather then later. But that's my opinion. His whole gimmick is Yes Yes Yes or No No No. I don't see how anyone can consider this story fresh. Punk was to small to be champ not that long ago. I am not trying to say that he needs a reboot more than others. There are only about 5024244764345746 threads about them. I was just speculating about 1 person.. That is extremely over at the moment but that will need to change to stay that way..

It's sarcasm indeed. :P

But really It's just the tide has shifted from vocal Bryan supporters that are upset how he was handled to the ones who do not like Bryan. Yeah know what they say it's normally the most upset that are the loudest so mostly the people complaining are people who never supported Bryan in the first place (I doubt they were the same ones that wanted him to get a push).

Too add a bit more to this (since I cannot edit posts anymore) ...

I don't think he is stale it's just that the feud with Daniel Bryan and Orton, Triple H, and the corporation needs a little more "bite" (stole that from John Tortorella's press conference). I think the initial shock when Triple H pedigreed DB at Summer Slam was still the high point of this entire feud and while they kept the heat on the rivalry I have yet to see a segment which made me hate Triple H/Orton the same level as in Summer Slam.

Also the whole NOC, fast count, and stripping of the title doesn't help. It felt like such a WCW thing that left fans confused at the event itself. You could see the reaction from the crowd after DB won and some fans, while happy, you could see some "WTF" faces in their reaction. So that kind of deflated the DB's moment and the heat Orton got in recent weeks.

That said the crowds are into DB so no problem with that, they just need to add some more heat with the heels.

It's funny I remember WrestleMania 28 a couple of years ago after Bryan lost the title in 18 seconds to Sheamus. I thought Sheamus would go on to be a BIG STAR and the next guy to take TOP FACE honors from Cena. I also thought D Bry would get a couple of title re-matches only to fall back to the mid-card. Boy was I wrong. D Bryan has earned his spot and is doing an awesome job. Not for nothing it's great to have some TOP FACE characters that the fans are actually behind 100%. I find this current angle refreshing and it's great to see Kofi, Truth, Ryder and some others get opportunities they wouldn't have if Cena & Sheamus were available.

Over the long term I would rather see his character eventually evolve to stop caring about being a wrestler. However, this would not occur for a long time.

It just goes to show how talented DB is in terms of winning over the crowd. Sheamus basically had a 2 year head start to get over while DB only had 4 months leading to WM28. I am not saying Sheamus is failure but DB really exceeded people's expectations. I mean another twist of fate is Wade Barrett was pushing DB around a year or so ago, and recently it's DB "punking" Barrett (i.e. that Beard Shaving Segment on RAW).
