The DS game that's twice the size of a UMD

Spunky

Lovable degenerate.

Studio Ghibli - the guys behind animated films Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle - is doing an RPG with developer Level 5 that will come on a DS cart that's over twice the capacity of a UMD.

Sony's portable media disc tops out at 1.8GBs. But the new RPG, titled Ninokuni: The Another World, will come on a specially-made high-capacity DS cart that stores up to 4GBs of data - the biggest DS cartridge yet.

According to the Nintendo Power report, Studio Ghibli's Joe Hisaishi is working on a fully orchestrated score for the game, which is why the extra space is needed. Considering how good the music is in the studio's films, this should be incredible.

Strange. I know very little about this game other than it's an RPG, And to use spells you have to Okami up and draw what you need. It looks pretty in the picture and it's made by Studio Giblets, I really want this game. Tragic really that it'd come out a year later than it would in Japan.

The plot, According to Wiki:

The player assumes the role of a 13 year-old boy named Oliver, a resident of Hotroit city whose mother Arie dies suddenly. A doll previously given to Oliver by his mother reveals itself to be a fairy named Shizuku, who gives Oliver a magic book that allows him to go to the world of "Ninokuni," a reality parallel to his own, where the fairy states the boy may be able to revive his mother. There he encounters alternate versions of people he knows.

It may be the 6 year old coming out of me, But it sounds pretty fucking sweet, A parallel world? Where you meet alternate versions of people? I'm sold. It may not turn out to be the bone ripping of fresh kinda alternate world, But it still sounds very interesting.

Discuss.

Looks good, the DS has been getting a few big RPGs recently (Dragon quest IX) so it's good to see it continuing. The game looks like how the retro zelda games are, simple yet challenging. It also looks pretty good and the music = pretty nice. Though that lantern nose kid,no thanks!
