The Concept of Professional Wrestling

Professional wrestling as a whole is a hard thing to define. what I want to know is what draws us to professional wrestling actually? when you think about it from an alien perspective its half naked roided up men pretending to wrestle a legit match against each other, what sounds good about that? absolutely nothing thats what.

what Im trying to figure out is why do we love this stuff so much, why do so many people around the world love professional wrestling when they all know its fake yet still cant put their finger on what makes it so great, so what Im trying to figure out it what draws us to wrestling and what makes us want to watch it whenever we can knowing what it is and how it works

I made this thread in the Spam section because I want to hear everyones opinion on this not just the people who would take the time to make a nice detailed post

Well the way I see it is, it is simply for the entertainment value. We all go to the movies, We all know that the monster is fake, or that Jessica Alba( hottest chick ever) can't really see death before it happens, or that Christian Baile isn't really Batman, Yet we flock in record numbers. With wrestling, Especially for me back in the 90's, I never knew what was going to happen next, I was so entertained! But now-and-days, I think we all just watch in hopes that it will grab us again and make us sit and watch. I would love to see the crazy storylines, extream gimmicks, crazynessism(New word). I watch now, knowing I can just change the channel if it is borning or if something better is on the next channel. Family Guy most of the time. I used to watch it from start to finish, commericals, crappy matches, everything! I watch to be entertained, and to hope to see what happens in a storyline turns into something to catch me off guard and make me set my tv to make sure I don't miss a second! Oh................................And the Divas/Knockouts!

wait you watch WWE to see the divas? Thats sad considering you'd get much better quality with porn

you know echelon im just now reading that quote thing at the bottom of your rain picture, i lol'd so hard after reading it but yet it is so true.

Wrestling is an entertainment medium in which a struggle between good and evil is played out in a live fashion as represented by paid performers.

Why do we watch it? Because we love Good vs. Evil stories. We love watching Good triumph over Evil. We love watching the struggle, and the steps the Good Guy has to use to win. We love to be drawn into the story of the Good vs. Evil, to be emotionally invested in both the actions of the villain and the hero.

We watch it because it represents the way we feel life should truly be.

its pretty simple why we like wrestling. world wrestling ENTERTAINMENT. that is all that it is. its entertaing, therfore, we like to watch it.

stripping down to a Speedo and pretending to wrestle and equally buff man?

but Im looking further into it think of it like this when Wrestling was created before they had storylines what made this succeed and what was the huge draw to it, because clearly there was an interest in half naked buff men pretending to wrestle each other or it wouldnt be around today
