The Briefcase

In the Feast or Fired match earlier this year Hernandez and Homicide won an X Divsion and a World Heavyweight Title Shot respectively. After an attack from the British Invasion backstage, both of LAX's breifcases were stolen and Hernandez was injured. Homicide was eventually able to regain his briefcase in a ladder match against Doug Williams and used it to win the X Division Title. Hernandez recently made his return, but the British Invasion still hold his briefcase.

My question is, how should the remaining briefcase be used by TNA? Considering that the British Invasion are currently tag team champions and no one in their stable seems ready for the main event picture, I think TNA would be best served to give the briefcase back to Hernandez. He appears to be on the verge of a huge push in the near future and the briefcase could be used to put him on top.

The next question is, when should the briefcase be used? This is a much tougher question. I'm not sure how Hernandez would fit in the title picture at the moment. He could use it to face Angle for the title at Bound For Glory, but I don't think he is ready for such a big stage. He could also use the briefcase at a PPV prior to BFG, but if that is the case it is doubtful he would actually win the title. I think TNA's best bet is to wait until after BFG to use the briefcase. If Angle loses the title at BFG Hernandez could be used in a rivalry against someone like AJ or Lashley. A heel turn may also be a possibilty. However the briefcase is used, I don't think it will be for a long time.

What do you think, who will use the briefcase and when will it be used?

I was thinking about his last night and thought, what if at Hard Justice Matt Morgan or A. J. Styles wins the Title from Kurt Angle and then out of nowhere, Big Rob Terry “cashes in” and wins the TNA Title?? Then on the next Impact, A.J. / Matt and Hernandez disputes the Title change and demand a shot at Terry. This instantly puts Big Rob in an extreme push, regardless if he drops the Title the following Thursday and is something so fresh and so clean. It also moves Kurt and Steve (is it 2001 again??) out of the Title picture, for at least a month, for at least till Bound For Glory. Would you order a PPV with Rob Terry vs. Matt Morgan / A. J. Styles vs. Hernandez for the World Title?? It’s just an idea.

I believe Hernandez should just take it back, but if a match has to take place, then I’d put Rob Terry and Hernandez in a ladder match, just like Homicide did with Doug Williams.

I think its obvious Hernandez is going to get it back sometime in the next 4-6 weeks, but I have another really good idea I think. I truly feel this world elite group is pretty decent and for a new group to have the reactions they are getting is pretty impressive. So why not have this alliance with the MEM go on for a couple months with Angle hold the title and then suddenly have Eric Young claim the briefcase as his own attack Angle and cash it in winning the world title. I mean Ive never seen Eric Young as a big time player in TNA but I think this new push of his is going to work. Also I think this would accomplish a face turn for Angle which I think is needed at some point. I think it will be Hernandez but I like that scenario

From what I have read, Rob Terry is not very good in the ring. He is better suited at being an enforcer who comes in and beats a couple guys up, rather than someone who has a main event match week after week. If you watched last nights impact, he really messed up that chokeslam, I think it was on shelley, but I could be wrong.

What they are doing with Rob Terry now is perfect. He is very intimidating and gives the world elite a backbone. Maybe in a few months after some more training they could try something like that, but how many times has WWE pushed big guys too soon? Nathan Jones, Khali, even Matt Morgan. You cant push a guy based on his size.

And if i remember correctly, Hernandez had cashed in his briefcase, and was screwer over by the MEM. But Mick Foley said he will get another shot at a later date. Maybe they could use that to throw Hernandez into the 3 way match.

Rob Terry...TNA World Heavyweight Champion...how can you seriously put those words in a sentence without taking the piss?!

Rob Terry is a former body builder who was released from a WWE developmental contract in under a year and all he did was body guard Nick Nemeth. He is too stiff on alot of occasions and what I have seen of him in TNA he doesn't know what he's doing. The sad thing is...he's WELSH! I'm Welsh and am disappointed we have this guy representing our country. He sure looks the part, but has about as much charisma as Todd Grisham's left sock!

If the briefcase is going to be used by anybody, then Brutus Magnus (who should change his name back to Nick Aldis as it is much more fitting for the British Invasion storyline) should give it to Eric Young. Then a feud between Young and Hernandez could happen or something, anything is better than seeing Rob Terry in the ring.

That’s what I’m going for. The element of surprise. The shock value alone in Rob cashing in and taking the Title would surly make waves. I heard he isn’t a great wrestler too, but worse has happened. At least, this would put the World Elite a step higher. It’s just an idea and it is obvious that Hernandez will get it back. Either he gets it back or Foley just gives him another shot and disregards the briefcase itself.

I keep seeing a lot of people saying Eric Young should receive the case and cash in and win the title, that's a very interesting idea that could be a huge push for a horribly under credited wrestler and a huge push for a Face main eventer.
Let's Compare Eric Young to CM Punk in the WWE in terms of the briefcase. It would be a very interesting turn of events if at a PPV the world title was disputed and won or retained in a very knock out drag out match between two main eventers and then snatched away similar to how Punk won the title off of Hardy after beating Edge.
As we saw with Punk doing this last year putting the GTS on Edge and taking his title after Batista man handled him, Punk spent a good while carrying the brand before eventually dropping it to the regular main eventers. This was a case of a guy who had all the potential in the world to be a star not pull it off because it simply was too soon. As good as Hernadez is right now I think he would have a similar fate to this. It's simply not his time yet as much as he deserves it.
Now let's compare Eric using the case to how Punk used it recently on Smackdown. When Punk got the case they turned him instantly into a Heel and pushed their chosen face's ratings and popularity right through the roof. I believe they could do something similar to this and push someone into star status, especially the more mean and gruesome Eric and the WE act until he dropped the belt.
Basically I'm saying as much as I think Super Mex deserves to be in main events throwing down with the best of them, it simply isn't his time. But if TNA is smart they can capitalize on this golden opportunity to push a few new or old faces and heels into the limelight.

Some ideas are best unspoken. I commend you guys for trying, but a lot of this shit. Some things are best if made simple. For instance, World Elite are beating someone down, Sting, Lashley, whoever. Hernandez comes down, makes the save, and puts Rob Terry on his ass and takes back the briefcase. At some point, he will get a shot at the title. He will likely lose, but we see if he actually starts building up some steam. I agree it should wait until after BFG, he isn't nowhere near ready to main event their biggest PPV.
