the best/worst ppv's of all time (list of opinion)

Draven Filth

Dark Match Jobber
this is my attempt to start a discussion about horrible ppvs/great ppvs

Worst ppv's ever imo

WWF Backlash 2002: this ppv was just a mess from start to finish, it had 2 good matches on the entire card, the rest were either horrible or raw/sd quality, which would be fine except for the fact that i dont wanna pay 40 dollars to see raw/sd quality matches

WCW Slamboree 99: i got one word for you....DUD. If i wanted to see two guys who cant wrestle put on a metiocre main event (nash/ddp) i would watch wcw.....oh wait i was watching wcw.\

ECW Disember to dismember: Let me just say this, if your going to only advertise 1-2 big matches (elimanation chamber/hardys-mnm) At lkeast make damn sure to the best of your ability that those matches will deliver, or at least charge less for the ppv itself. WWE didnt do either, the elimanation chamber was....eh, it was okay. and the hardys/mnm match was acceptable. The rest of the cartd was just ecw on scifi imo.

WWE Wrestlemania 9: This is the single worst wrestlemania i've ever watched. Undertaker vs giant gonzalez seriously put me to sleep (which is a feet no other match has ever literally done). And i had to sit through not one but 2 hulk hogan matches.....yes vince it makes perfect sense to have hulk lose a tag match to midcarders and then win your heavyweight title....Utter stupitity..

Best PPV's

WWE Wrestlemania 19: Honestly it took jakes wrestlemania thoughts to make me watch wm19 again (i watched it on ppv live, bought the dvd when it came out, watched that, and let it collect dust) and when it was over i had to agree, wm19 is arguably the most solid wrestlemania of all time. It had a full card of solid matches that delivered on different levels. Even the womens match was semni interesting.

ECW One night stand 2005: Thiis ppv was great on so many levels, the matches from 1st to last were great, i watched a crippled rvd do a vantermanator. I got to see alot of guys i havent seen in a long time, taz locked kurt angle in the tazmission, and of course it was the rebirth of ECW.

WWF Unforgiven 2000: This ppv was just amazing, if had hhh vs kurt angle, undertaker, kane, chris benoit, and the rock for the wwf title, ravens, debut. And again, for the most part was just an all around solid ppv

WWF Inforgiven 2001: Austin and angle alone was enough to make this ppv one of my favorites, it was probably one of the greatest main event matchups of all time. Throw that in with a few other good matches (tajiri/rhyno, jericho/rvd) and you have a nice 4/5 star ppv

TNA Bound for glory 2006: IMO this is tnas greatest ppv of all time period, from sting/jarrett, raven/abyss/runt/joe, the x-division royal rumble, to styles/daniels, lax. This event just kicked ass

Honorable mentions:

WWF Unforgiven 1999: For what was a throw together ppv this wasnt bad at all (except the dreaded kennel from hell match)

TNA: Slammiverserry 2005: Raven acheved his destiny oin tna as champion....nuff said

WCW Bash at the beach 1996: This was the birth of the nwo and i believe one of rey mysterios first matches in wcw....but the event just wasnt that great except for historic value

WCW Bash at the beach 2000: The vince russo shoot was amazing, plus i agree, jarrett,/booker did tear the house down, but other then that....the only good thing out of the night was the demon being buried by vampiro.

what do you guys think/what is your list of best/worst ppvs.

Wrestlemania 17 is the best overall mania. Every match was built up properly and had decent amounts of wrestling and entertainment. All the titles were on the line, all of the other matches made sense and furthered storyline. Heck even the Gimmick Battle royal was fun to watch.

It had a memorable and decent main event, a great submission match and a great undertaker hhh match. Most of the title matches were great like the TLC that had a few twists in it. Hardcore match that made sense and was just pure fun to see raven get his ass kicked throughout the arena. The Backstage stuff made sense and furthered storyline and was great to watch like Benoit making Angle tap backstage.

Nothing was crap about it at all overall some of the matches were average like the APA and taz vs Right to Censor match that was average but still had a great storyline and purpose.

Id go as far to say best wrestlmania ever overall. I say overall because some wrestlmanias have had great main events but were shitty rest of the card, or have had matches that spoiled the whole show.

WrestleMania 17 was great. The Rock vs. Austin match was the best out of the 3 times they met at Mania. It was a very intense match that had me on into it. Who would have thought that vince and austin would team up against the rock and plus how austin won with mutiple chair shots.

I liked how they couldnt beat each other after all the finishers ect. It made them look equally matched and it took outside interference to win.

Rock really takes the Stunner bad, he always goes flying about and shit like a acrobat and oversells.

my friend you can never oversell. Honestly the stunner is austins finishing move and the rock made it look as devestating as a finisher should look. Rock makes it look like he just got shot in the chest with a handgun.

There are 2 versions of the stunner in fact 3.
The old stunner just sat down hit the opponent the fell and looked KO for the rest of the match.
The newer one were he jumped up and soon as he landed on his backside let go and they would go flying.
The third was when he moved around while stunnering about 90 degrees.

Best ppv. Wrestlemania 5 - This was the very first Wrestlemania that I got to see live. Not in person, but on a big movie screen via ppv at a local theater. I marked out so much for everything. It was the birth of The Model, the fall of Machomania, and the day when Hulk ruled again. Yeah, it was gay but it was awesome a the time.

Worst PPV. WCW's Sin- This was the ppv where Sid broke is leg. It was still a bad ppv on top of that.

Another bad ppv. WWF's Over the Edge 99- Owen Hart lost his life during this one. Enough said.

Yeah i heard sin was pretty bad, i heard the matches were sub par to say the least, but i only used ppv's that i've actually seen, and i never got to see wcw sin.

no see the who sid breaking his leg thing at sin 2001 was the single worst injury ive ever witnessed (i didnt see droz get paralyzed or id probably say that)

They never filmed it the camera was facing away from him at the time LUCKILY because that shit would be so horrible to watch. Horrible as in very sad type horrible.

wrestlemania 11 sucked from top to bottom. Nash vs. Michaels sucked although Shawn tried. LT vs. Bam Bam was stupid, the tag title match was a joke and Backlund never even said I quit. Despite the fact that mankind vs. HBK was on the card the rest of the in your house mind games PPV in 96 sucked and the one I went to in Vancouver international incident looking back at it and watching the tape it sucked as well.

Sumerslam 90 was great, I loved the best 2 out of 3 falls match for the tag belts. Hogan vs. Earthquake was good and Warrior and Rude in a cage was good as could be expected. Survivor series 1990 was great as well because of the quality of superstars and the teams + the finish at the end where the survivors from each team face each other and I complete agree about mania 19, top to bottom it was a great PPV.

no see the who sid breaking his leg thing at sin 2001 was the single worst injury ive ever witnessed (i didnt see droz get paralyzed or id probably say that)

Yeah, and while I am not in any way lessening how bad Owen Hart and Droz's accidents were, noone knew that Drozz was paralyzed or that Owen Hart was dead right away. You KNEW that Sid as fucked up just mere fractions of a second after he hit the mat. So yeah, visually, I would have to give it to Sid's leg break, even though it has proven not to be either life or career threatening.

I think you answered your own question with the beginning part. We all NOW know it wasn't career threatening. At the time, we thought he may never walk again. We were proven wrong.

i heard it was kinda a joke....

I got a question....although i doubt it...did the wwf ever put over the edge 99 on tape? The only reason i wonder is because i know owen wasnt even seen falling....What i didnt know was he'd done that stunt before....hence why i think wwf let him do it at that ppv....

Of course Owen had done it before. You really think they wouldn't have tested it out beforehand? Hell, Vince probably tried it out too, just like he tried out the zip line Shawn Michaels used at Mania.

no im saying he actually did it on tv...mostly on heat but he did it a few times...he did it on the heat before survivor series 1998...I can find the other ones...

Can you imagine if Shawn Michaels' zip line woulda broke when he was coming down? That would have changed the face of wrestling forever. I mean nobody would have been allowed to do any similar stunts. No Sting coming down from the rafters. No Big Boss Man hanging. Nothing with a cord. No DX. Wow. It' scary to think about.
