Getting Noticed By Management
Just bought it, and a few hours in.. real good DVD so far.. its narrated by Dusty Rhodes. Gives back story and 7 hours of matches..

Good stuff!!

I remember how Clash of the Champions would air on Free TV at the same time Wrestlemania would air on PPV.

Brought back a lot of memories for me as I used to watch this with my grandfather as a child. (RIP grandpa :( )

I just watched Flair vs. Sting last night (first match). Good times.

Yeah good times :) in their Prime they were brilliant in the ring!

Good thing this set has two matches with these two, there is one on disc 1 and another on disc 3. :D

The only problem I had with the first match is they kept re-using the same spots over and over. How many times did Sting Gorilla Press Slam Flair? How many times did Flair fall on his face, or get thrown off the top rope? How many times did Sting no sell the chops?

It was an enjoyable match, and a great trip down nostalgia lane, but I didn't care much for the repetitiveness.

True but that was a different time and era, stuff like that was the norm in NWA I remember Luger no selling a lot too, its like work one body part for 15-20 minutes then for a 5 minute surge after taking all that punishment that body part is 100% okay, happend a lot in the NWA. But for some reason back then I wasn't bothered by it much.

Also I marked out hearing JR and Gordan Solie call the Flair/Funk match I forgot all about that.

This DVD has a lot of Sting/Flair team ups and match ups. (which is a good thing)

Speaking of nostalgia lane... Kevin Nash as OZ during the battle royal was a good laugh.

Did you guys watch this on blu ray? I was going to buy it but a friend of mine said if I bought the blu ray the matches would only show on half the screen because they weren't originally filmed in hi def. Is that true and if so is it annoying to watch like that?

DVDs are the same way if you have a big screen TV. It does that on my 40 inch TV. Haven't even tried on the 60 inch yet. Wish I had known there was a Blu-Ray version though, I'm sure there's probably extras that would be nice.

Now that you mention it I do adjust some settings to get the picture to spread out on the big screen for dvds. It might weaken the quality a bit but I can't stand having a big screen and having most of it go to waste. I'll get the blu ray eventually and see how it turns out.

I still don't get why they put an image from Clash 27 instead of Clash 1 on there. It's the far more famous Flair vs. Sting match.

I still don't get why it really matters.

But if you want an explanation, how about because the first match was an NWA match, and not a WCW match?

True but considering WWE is putting this out and that they want to say that the title Sheamus has is of the same lineage of the NWA/WCW WOrld Title, I'm not sure how much that would matter.

Sting >>>> Joe

In every way imaginable. Now Joe shouldn't have been thrown in a random Monster's Ball match, but Joe wasn't near the worker, the draw or the superstar Sting was.

I agree, which is why it should have been Sting vs. Joe. Jarrett vs. Sting had already happened on PPV earlier that summer. They could have changed the title there.

No...just no. Joe had no heat with Sting, but Sting had plenty of heat with Jarrett. Additionally, they were already building Joe vs. Angle and you cannot give Angle the title right away.

They made the right decision with the BFG main-event.

I've never quite agreed with going with Joe vs. Angle as soon as they did either. I get why they did it but I didn't like that choice. I know Sting had heat with Jarrett, and they had the chance to blow it off already at Hard Justice. Why they didn't I'm not sure, and it's not like it would have been hard to switch it to Sting vs. Joe. Granted I think the No Surrender main event hurt BFG a lot so if they had altered that, BFG would have worked better too.

Because you build to the biggest show of the year with the biggest card you can come up with. Sting vs. Jarrett, with Sting winning the title, was the biggest card TNA could come up with at the time. Throw in the ultra hot LAX vs. Daniels/Styles and TNA put on the biggest show they could have.

Sting vs. Joe wouldn't have nearly the same appeal. Not to mention, Joe was extremely overrated back then, and I think TNA knew it.
