The Ascension - what next?

DCLXVI

Getting Noticed By Management
So we've been following these guys who have dominated the NXT tag division (for 200 and something odd days) and are regularly featured in squash matches with jobbers... they have plateaued on NXT so the next step is being called up to main roster -

Now the WWE tag roster is pretty jammed up right now, from The Uso's, to the Wyatts, to the Dust Brothers, Los Matadores, (possibly) Rybaxel and now The Big Show and Mark Henry. Where does the Ascension fit here? Obviously the size ratio in WWE is much different and these guys will not come off as a monster style, Legion of Doom team (which is I believe what they were aiming for). Good tag wrestlers, okay physiques, okay promos. They seem like a team that would have thrived in a classic ECW style environment, but what do you see happening when The Ascension is used on WWE TV?

I see a prominent featured role for these guys until their goofy posturing and stagnant in-ring style forces them into a middling series of programs and eventual release from the company.

Or who knows, they might actually have a shot with the big crowds.

I could only think of 2 ways that would make sense for them to come up to the main roster.

1. You have the Usos drop to Dust Brothers and that feud goes on a bit more. Then Dust Brothers could drop to Show and Henry and you have the Ascension feud with 2 established guys.

2. Usos drop to Dust Brothers who then feud with a face Harper and Rowan (Bray has to be turning sometime this year as they have nothing for him as a heel thats worth a damn right now) and then you have Ascension/Wyatt family feud.

Only things I could think that would be somewhat logical and not completely out of the realm of reality. You could always have Ascension be a tweener team that is just about destroying teams but thats somewhat cheap.

What's next?

Hopefully a haircut for the ponytail guy. He'll be looking like Paul Heyman did within a year but at least he got to wear a baseball cap.

Basically I see them losing the belts somehow, then hitting smackdown and raw, then doing it all over again.

I would like a better finisher though. The low leg part barely connects and has any effect. I love team finishers but they could do better than this. They ain't no Eliminators and someone's gotta get a Dudley's type finisher that gets everybody interested even if they ain't interesting.

I wanna see Luke Harper boot the hell out the big guy. I can't stand goth type gimmicks. They're like every single created wrestler I played online in the WWE games. What is it with these kids and all black anyway?

Dude, you nailed it. hahahahahaha

Personally, I do not think that this team/gimmick gets over very long on main roster, even with NXT build/exposure. Given creative's inability to write anything compelling, I just don't have faith.

On NXT they outshine a lot of the other wrestlers, but on the main roster it will be a different story.

These guys are big, but once they come up against the Wyatts Harper/Rowan and other's, I would like to see if their game changes. If it stays the same they won't last long.

I assume they will be put up against teams that have been thrown together for the first little while, and it will be squash matches. Established tag teams might be a problem for them however.

The Ascension were a perfect fit for a Ministry revival but thats obviously not gonna happen now, and if they get put up to the main roster who will be there competition? The Wyatt's are the only ones with enough balls and the look to pull it off everyone else is too gimmicky, the Uso's are putting on good matches but lets face it they dont look dominant they are just booked lucky like the Honky Tonk Man was..

the only other team which is an irrelevant team is Henry and The Big Show but they are just temporary til there contracts run out i reckon.
