I understand it's a crime to fuck your students; however, seeing as they were all 18 should she not just be kicked out of the school system instead of prison?

At the end of the day, 18 or not, they're still students and she's still a teacher, meaning someone in a position of authority and power. It doesn't matter if the student is 38, this can't happen and she committed a crime.

I'm not entirely sure I agree with you there. I mean. The students were 18. It's not like she was taking advantage of some 16-17 year old child. These kids are legally adults.

Given that the current law states she should go to prison, yes, I agree she should be in prison when it's that black and white. What I disagree with is it being that black and white to begin with. If all students are of age I do not think prison is necessary.

She's losing her career, possibly home assuming she's got a house based on her 30,000-40,000$ annully, time invested in school, loss of money; it seems prison is an unnecessary punishment given they're adults.

I suppose I see both sides. Seeing how my mom is a teacher, it's natural for me to automatically defend the teacher I suppose. They work way too damn hard to get paid so damn little.

There were 5 students. All were 18. If it were simply one I'd be inclined to argue with KB. Given there are 5 counts, no. I agree entirely. 1 year for each student seduced.

KB is right and although legally at 18 you are technically an adult it doesn't mean that magically some switch gets turned on and you are mature.

Is there really much of a difference between a 17 year old and an 18 year old? I know 18 is the point where youre legally an adult (and i guess this is a legal case), but in terms of developement, theres very little in between.

Too me, if it would be creepy for a seventeen year old, it just as creepy (if not more so) to wait a few months and then act.

Surely your desire to defend the teacher should be reserved for the good teachers, not the ones that sleep with their students. I wont even crack a joke about your mama here.
