So I'm thinking of all the talk about this upcoming induction class and the rumor it will be based around WCW. Usually there has been one tag team inducted annually so I got to thinking who has the best chance of getting the nod for this year's hall. (I tried not to make the short info spots for the teams repetative)
Ivan and Nikita Koloff
- The Koloff's had one reign that lasted 113 days. They are perhaps most known for their fued with the Road Warriors as well as their attempts to dethrone Ric Flair. Both men are heavily respected and achieved a lot of singles success as well with Ivan winning the NWA Florida Tag Team Titles 5 times, The NWA Georgia Tag Team belts 7 times, the NWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship 4 times, the NWA Television Championship and the WWWF World title. Nikita also held the NWA World Title as well as the United States Championship.
The Outsiders (Kevin Nash & Scott Hall)
- Two of the most legendary men in the buisness. With 6 WCW Tag titles under their belts for a combined length of 475 days, these two dominated the tag scene since their arrival in 1996. Most know their solo accomplishments as well in WCW and the WWF/E. And with both of their departures from TNA it seems like now would be a better time than ever for them to be inducted. Whether the WWF front office liked it or not, these two men jumping to WCW changed the wrestling world.
The Steiner Brothers (Rick & Scott)
- Possibly the best brother combination in wrestling history, the Steiners dominated the WCW tag division for years with a total of 7 reigns that totaled 520 days. Although Scott had more success in the singles game both are known throughout the world as tag team specialists.
The Brainbusters (Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard)
- Two fixtures for the NWA, these two members of the Four Horsemen could hold their own alone or in tag team competition. Tully achieved more singles success (Most notably for holding the NWA United States Championship). Arn and Tully had two reigns as NWA Tag Team Champions and also had a decent amount of success in the WWF in the late eighties.
The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal)
- What do I really need to say? The overall top tag team in most peoples opinion, including mine.
Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray)
- This is a wild card pick for me. I was a huge fan of the tag team and with their 10 WCW Tag Title reigns it was great to be a fan of them. We all know Stevie is the Marty Jannetty of the situation (I hate that saying but I feel as though I would be called out for not using it) but both were solid members of the WCW roster, especially Booker in the later years.
The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Gene Anderson and Ole Anderson)
- The first ever NWA Tag Team Champions had 7 reigns with an estimated length of close to 1,000 days. Both were old school and as tough as they got. Ole is perhaps more know due to his involvement in the Four Horsemen.
And basically I got tired of doing the short bios but these are the other teams I could see being inducted,
The Rock 'n' Roll Express (Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton)
- As popular as anyone else.
The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton)
- Jim Cornette was their manager, remember them now?
The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry Gordy, Jimmy Garvin and Michael "PS" Hayes)
- These three guys have a tremendous chance, especially if their fued with the Von Erich's in WCCW is taken into account.
The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags and Brian Knobbs)
- Hate the say it because their probably the least gifted tag team on the list, but they held a lot of gold. Certainly if Hogan was in WWE this would have a high chance of happening.
Honorable Mention
Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood
A great tag team for the NWA. They only held the Tag belts for 31 days which was their only reign, but they were quite possibly the most popular tag team at the time.
