T.N.A. Miscellaneous News Thread

As a result of last night's Final Resolution PPV, the 2/11 TNA Against All Odds PPV is expected to be headlined by new NWA champion Christian Cage defending the world title against Kurt Angle. In addition, Dave Meltzer said Sunday night that the angle involving A.J. Pierzynski, Dale Torborg and Lance Hoyt would lead to a match at TNA's February PPV pitting Hoyt vs. Dale Torborg with A.J. Pierzynski in Torborg's corner, and Hoyt having St. Louis Cardinals Dave Eckstein in his corner. Also look for another AJ Styles vs. Rhino match according to TNAWrestlingNews.com.

TNA is taping Impact tonight in Orlando, so we should have a pretty good idea of the Against All Odds PPV since its only four weeks away. We'll post Spoilers later this evening.

Kurt Angle suffered a concussion during his Iron Man match against Samoa Joe at Final Resolution last night.

Despite the injury, Angle made an appearance on the syndicated NBC program iVilliage Live this morning. Angle was listed as a TNA wrestler as he took part in a cooking segment on the show. During the appearance, he confirmed that he suffered a concussion eight minutes into his match with Samoa Joe, noting that it was his first concussion in four years.

TNA's Against All Odds, Angle/GMSM, More TNA Notes

TNA's website has opened the section for the upcoming Against All Odds PPV on February 11 at TNAWrestling.com. The section features a video promo about the event focusing on the new NWA World Champion Christian Cage. The only match confirmed so far is Christian Cage defending the NWA World Title against Kurt Angle. We posted rumored matches earlier this morning.

J-Zon sent in the following recap: TNA Superstar Kurt Angle was featured on the "George Michael Sports Machine" last night. It was a fantastic piece highlighting his entire career. Some of the highlights include Kurt saying that he has "complete control" over his matches, he attributes winning the Gold medal to being the best conditioned athlete and he talked about his desire to have one MMA fight. They showed several clips of him fighting in the Olympics, vs. Benoit and vs. Joe. Again, this was a great segment, putting professional wrestling in a (much needed) positive light. (For those who aren't aware, George Michael is based locally in Washington DC and for years he has been the only sportscaster in the area showcasing professional wrestling. Good lookin' out George!)

TNA's website is teasing that a "huge main event" will also be taking place this Thursday on the Spike TV broadcast and said to check back on Monday night for an update regarding the announcement of this big match.

It is possible that Samoa Joe reinjured his knee during the match with Kurt Angle last night. Joe is good at selling overall, so he may have been doing that with his knee last night. No confirmation has been made yet. As noted earlier this morning, Kurt Angle suffered a concussion during last night's match and claimed he didn't remember every part of the match.

TNA will be taping two weeks worth of iMPACT! for Spike TV tonight in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios. Already confirmed for the first taping is LAX vs. Team 3D for the NWA World Tag Team Titles in a rematch from last night's Final Resolution PPV. Also scheduled is newly crowned NWA World Champion Christian Cage addressing his title defense against Kurt Angle next month at Against All Odds, what Samoa Joe will do next after losing to Kurt Angle, a sitdown interview with Christy Hemme and an update on the brawl between Lance Hoyt and A.J. Pierzynski & Dale Torborg.

In addition to the Team 3D vs. LAX rematch for the Tag Titles on iMPACT this week, TNA has just announced Kurt Angle vs. AJ Styles for the main event.

Despite his concussion at Sunday night's TNA PPV, Kurt Angle appeared on NBC Monday morning on the TV show iVillage Live. He cooked a wheat burrito and talked about how he is extra careful with his heart due to his family's history with heart problems. In regards to wrestling, Angle said that TNA has the best and fastest moving wrestlers. He did mention his concussion, but only in passing.

Angle also appeared on NBC Sunday night on George Michael's Sports Machine show. Apparently when the interview was taped, he was asked one question and he talked for 35 minutes on it. At the end of the segment, he claimed that he wanted to do MMA, but he had an awful lot to lose as one fight could destroy his reputation. Angle said, "Am I willing to put my rep up for one fight?" He dreams about the one match that could make or break his legacy. Also, he talked about having a major painkiller problem in 2005.

TNA had its biggest crowd in history at the 1/5 show in Lisbon, Portugal. They drew 5,000 fans in an 8,000 seat arena. SmackDown had a house show in the same arena last month as well, and they sold out the place. Furthermore, even though TNA airs on Eurosport, the majority of the fans aren't too familiar with product as aside from Kurt Angle, they don't know most of the wrestlers. For instance, when Samoa Joe put Kurt Angle in his patented choke hold finisher, hardly anyone in the arena knew what he was doing.

It was TNA's decision to discontinue airing TNA Xplosion on Sun Sports. They told them in early December that they would no longer be supplying them with tapes of the show. Sun Sports was their only U.S. outlet for the show. However, they'll continue to produce the show because it's cheap to produce and it's profitable for the company to sell it to international markets. Also, they'll continue airing the show on The Fight Network in Canada.

Just days after announcing a mobile deal with New Motion Inc., TNA incorporated cell phone texting for the first time in the company's history at the Final Resolution PPV Sunday night asking fans who they thought would win the 30 Minute Iron Man Match between Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe.

^Exciting news! Man, I'd love to see the reception he gets for wrestling at a NJPW event. I hope he takes on someone with some great shooting skills that is brutal. Hell, why don't they just get one of my dream matches over with and import Danielson. That match would likely make my millenium.

It's an exciting time for Kurt Angle fan's at the moment. There is so many potentially awesome match that could potentially take place and that's not even including the rest of the T.N.A. roster.

Kurt Angle was apparently feeling much better yesterday following his concussion on Sunday. He'll wrestle AJ Styles this Thursday night on iMPACT! in what was apparently a great match. For those wondering, his New Japan match on 2/18 will likely be part of a tag team bout.

The latest word is that Samoa Joe wasn't injured at the PPV afterall. Joe has always done a great job of selling in the ring.

There has been a lot of talk within TNA about how to improve their major weakness, which is believed to be their TV shows. The feeling within the company is that they can have better wrestling matches on TV than WWE, rather than saving the best match's for P.P.V's.

Amy "Lita" Dumas will wrestle for Hermie Sadler's UWF promotion in 2007. They have been friends for a long time. UWF and TNA are no longer affiliated with each other.

With a TNA Women's division on the way, you'll no doubt see her there soon as well. It's only a matter of time.

Stay tuned to TNAWrestlingNews.com for more on this story.

Despite Christy Hemme bringing up Joanie "Chyna" Laurer during her Final Resolution PPV promo, it doesn't appear she will be coming in. In fact, In a Lifted magazine interview, Laurer stated, "I will not return to wrestling. I am very proud of what I have done, but I have grown and I am looking forward to future endeavors. But no, I will never go back."

TNA continues to make a play for Chris Jericho, and according to Dave Meltzer, has neither accepted nor turned down their offer.

Patrick Bentley & Adam Roberts from NWA Anarchy are the men that faced off with Deuce and Domino at the Smackdown tapings last evening.

If you see a "press release" entitled, "TNA Wrestling Moves To Mondays On Spike TV" it is not real.

Mike Johnson reports that Scott Steiner has signed a new long-term deal with TNA and should be back on TV very soon.

The plan is for a Scott Steiner/Kurt Angle feud sometime in 2007.

There is an interview with Jim Cornette in the latest edition of the UK's Powerslam magazine. Maria's position with Ohio Valley Wrestling at the end of his tenure in the company gets brought up and he subsequently blasts her. Although, it should be noted that Cornette's opinion on her is based on her time in OVW in early 2005 when she was really new to the business and Cornette was pretty much fed up with WWE & their direction by that point. Anyways, here is what he said about Maria: Don't you mean Maria? Marie, Maria: whatever. Another useless (woman) they foisted off on me. You know, I was running a wrestling school. Maria hadn't wrestled, didn't like wrestling, and didn't wanna f--king wrestle. I don't know what the f--k she was doing there. I was expected to use her on television, so she could practice her interviewing... She couldn't even remember the names of the people she was interviewing. WWE wanted her on our show live. I told them the last time she was on live, she couldn't remember the wrestlers names, so I was putting her in a pre-tape.

It looks like we haven't seen the last of 'Big Poppa Pump' in TNA as noted by TNAWrestlingNews.com late last night. Scott Steiner, 44, has signed a new long-term deal with TNA and he should be back on television very soon. They also have a plan in place for a Scott Steiner/Kurt Angle feud later in the year. Steiner hasn't appeared in a TNA ring since August. The reason for his disappearance was due to the fact that he wasn't satisfied with his pay. Steiner initially joined TNA for less than his asking price and he thought he deserved a raise by that point after he had proved himself. The two parties couldn't come to an agreement as contract negotiations came to a standstill, and thus he hasn't appeared on television in several months.

It hasn't been officially announced, but it looks as if TNA will indeed get a two hour special on Monday, February 12 when RAW would otherwise be airing on USA. RAW is preempted for the dog show on that night and it won't air on Sci-Fi either because of a marathon scheduled for that network on that evening. So if the deal goes down, TNA will go unopposed on that night in what could be its only chance for years to air on what's become the main "wrestling night" in America and capture some new viewers looking for their weekly wrestling fix. Furthermore, the show is slated to replay on Thursday night during the usual start time.

TNA's interview girl Leticia Cline is in an online modeling contest along with some other models. The winner will get a Photoshoot and layout in HighRoller Magazine, among some other prizes. There is a link to a bunch of sexy pictures of her at the bottom of the page and you can vote for her if you'd like to.
