Svr '10

From the things I've read in this thread since the last time I was here.. I've come to this conclusion..

Edge's Attire: Is atrocious. Did they seriously have to give him the in between "Rated R Lightning Bolt" attire, yet not just go all out and give him the Mania version? Ugh, I'll definitely be working double time with the color editor to try and give those tights a reason to be seen.

John Morrison: Looks like hes going to become a Heavyweight Champion in under a year's time. (In other words, he looks amazing and greatly upgraded)

Diva's Open Availability: If this is true, then my storyline regarding Divas just likely went up ten fold. I'm already a fan of Maryse being in the game, and that alone gives me a reason to care for the diva's again.. but adding in the possibility of letting them compete in gimmick matches (Cage, First Blood, etc.) makes their playability increase in my book.

October Release: Say wha?! And here I was, thinking I had 3 solid months left before this game came out.. but instead, I have less than 2 now?! Its like a bonus, and just in time for my Wedding Anniversary. Whelp, I guess I know what Erin & I will be doing then.. GM Mode bitches!

Edge's attire looks beter in this game then it ever has. I don't recall Edge wearing a jacket since his first WWE Title reign.

More info. Xbox360 Trophies for the game have been released (assuming there's a PS3) one too. But it's confirmed more features, some of which I marked out for!

But if you want to cut down from the long vid, here's a shortlist of confirmed parts

Road To Wrestlemania Stories
- Edge
- Orton
- HBK
- Mickie James
- Create a Superstar
- Brand Warfare

New match type:
Championship Scramble Match

The other trophies are pretty standard plus secret ones, but it also confirms that Create a Titantron is coming too!

I am seriously marking out for the game at the moment, I really think this will be the best Smackdown game of all time at this rate! Hell, maybe even the greatest wrestling game of all time!

The game is getting better everyday. erm, everyday they released more info about it at least. About 60 playable characters in it, the storyline creator is insane. I love the picks for new RtW stories. Championship Scramble is pretty boss too, plus revampled Royal Rumble, TLC, Cage, Hell in a Cell matches. wow.. They really went all out.

Well the rosters are going to be announced in a few hours over on gamespot.com. They are having a live draft type show with Fink, Miz, and Eve as they unveil the rosters. Pretty excited for the game and really looking forward to the superstars and divas that are gonna be available.

Reading in this forum, someone said that the submission system is being changed? I really hope so.
I would be more then content with the simple button mashing submission system from the older games.

This looks fantastic so far though, my only concern is that the GM mode isnt as deep as it claims to be, these games have lied before.

Ok so the Smackdown vs Raw Roster has been released. I'm a bit surprised by some of the roster. You have Mike Knox and Jesse, but no DH Smith or Tyson kid (Natayla is on the roster). On the Raw side, Festus is featured but no Hornswaggle or The Brian Kendrick. Now I know TBK has been future endeavored but that was fairly recent. As for Hornswaggle, say what you will about his recent thing with Chavo but who wouldn't wanna try to see if the midget could body slam big show. ECW has the main players who have been around long enough on the roster.

I know SVR releases downloadable superstars shortly after the game is released. Now they have Steve Austin, The Rock, JBL, and Jeff Hardy on the roster. What other WWE alumni would you like to see on the game? I believe some of these were downloadable last year but I wanna see Road Warriors, Ric Flair, Doink, and Yokozuna.

I am actually surprised at a few of the characters who are on 2010 because jesse and festus are still on it and granted jesse (slam master J) is still in wrestling but they were nothing more than joke wrestlers that filled the scheduling.

Im surprised the hart dynasty arent on the game especially with natalya being there. I also think they could have made a bit more effort with the legends they have introduced i know stone cold and the rock are great icons but what happened to the old versions of smackdown vs raw where you had amazing talent from the past like bret hart and jake the snake roberts.

After the whole jericho vs the legends thing i would have expected ricky the steamboat dragon or at least ric flair to be on the game, or what about introducing a mode where you can play as wrestlers from the past like a game mode called the attitude era or something that would be quite cool.

And why oh why oh why is JBL on the game personally not a good choice.

Well the cut off date for the roster was some time before Wrestlemania because you still have Tazz on commentary. THQ need a point where they can start on the rest of the game after sorting the roster out.

At that time, Kennedy, Umaga, JBL, TBK were all around before Wrestlemania, even Jesse and Festus were still a team, the Hart Dynasty were only just made active shortly after, Natalya was in WWE for a year and Tyson Kidd only jusy debuted around Wrestlemania. I would assume the Harts will be the first DLC available. In regards to Legends, I thought they were still holding back about Legends in the game, but I would think you could move them over from LOW much like they did with SVR09 character being in LOW.

Hornswoggle cannot be a physical choice because simply put, he's not a wrestler, he's too small to do big grapple holds and he only does the tadpole splash. He's basically be a job member of the roster, remember they put the weight limitations on wrestlers, Hornie would be useless, it's like having Zach Gowen in there, too much time spent on a wrestler that has a limitation in his wrestling ability, most likely Hornie will be a manager like last year.

My God you people are dumb. Do you not remember last year? The Hart Dynasty will be unlockables from Road to Wrestlemania mode. They never announce what the unlockables will be, that would kind of ruin the surpise of it all. Other unlockables will probably be Ricky Ortiz, Paul Burchill & Katie Lea, Alicia Fox and Rob Van Dam.

Personally every SVR game to come out after Here Comes The Pain has sucked a huge amount for me. They just stopped being fun ever since they started the SVR series and decided to limit the games for little reason. SVR06 was actually so bad that I was pissed off for having traded in 2 games and spent money on it. I modded my PS2 after that so I wouldn't have to make a mistake like that again.

I still get these games to be able to make my CAW however, and to be able to keep making my videos. Because I need that creative outlet of mine. :>

They have a bunch of features for this years game that are looking nice. But that's all it is, extra features. The core engine is still the same it has been for 15 years, they haven't improved any of that. Think about that, 15 YEARS. >_< They are using the Havok engine for this game in order to have a realistic collission detection with the ROPES and that's it. Sheesh. THQ are just milking money, every game to come out since SVR has been nothing but add-on's. No greater game improvement.

I don't think the game itself will be all that fun. But messing about with my CAW and the extra features and being creative will sure have entertainment value. That's why I will be getting it. My twisted ego fuck needs it's taking care of.

I got the official Xbox 360 magazine the other day and they were going crazy over this game.

OXM are usually pretty good when it comes to reviewing new games and so far, they have never really let me down. Their headline was "10 reasons SvR will be better than UFC". I haven't found the time to go over it and read it properly but of what I have read, they seem to think that it is amazing. Hopefully, they are correct and UFC will be left in it's wake. UFC was a great game and a ame that I spent many hours on but I am secretly hoping it will be outdone by SvR. The only problem I see occurring is that I over-hype it and it turns out to be not as good as I am expecting it to be. Again, hopefully this wont happen and I can really enjoy this game.

So I heard on G4 that o will only be able to have 10 years worth or GM mode. Well. Thats fucking ridiculous. What if I have more to do dammit. Anyway though :lmao:

So anyways, fucking excited. I dont wanna say estatic, becuase nowere has it been defined just exactly how all this shit will work. I meaaaann...I know you can make stories, blah blah, thats great. What will be the object of the game though? Getting ratings? Money? Fan approval? what will seperate your ME guys from your curtain jerkers, as far as in the game itself? Will there be popularity ratings again? I love all the ideas, im just a little confused as to how it is all gonna be used in a pracital manner.

Ill be counting on the video game guys around WZ to have some BIG comprehensive reveiws of the game for me to read out here, since I wont get to play the fucker til January :(. You guys enjoy the hell out of it for me, and answer all my questions.

I'm not planning on buying the game anytime soon, but I did see in the upcoming Best Buy ad that they have a promo going where, if you buy SvR '10 for the 360 or PS3, you can get any WWE DVD for $4.99.

I think that sounds like a pretty good deal to me... The only fine print listed on the ad was "Batista - I Walk Alone DVD excluded from offer."

From what I've read, it's not a matter of you designing story lines for your own enjoyment. That particular aspect of the game is tied into the online component, so you create your story lines to be uploaded to a central server where everyone else can download and play them... basically, you're entertaining everyone else, should you choose to do so.

The downside of that is that is that you don't really get anything for your effort other than maybe the appreciation of the player base. That and 5 bucks buys you a cup of coffee, right? The upside, though, is that hopefully there'll be an active community creating these storylines so you can download them and get a LOT more mileage out of your game with user-generated content. I'd say it's a pretty good idea, but it's all dependent on how active the community is.

The biggest drawback I've heard about the story creation mode, though, is that you're limited to 10 create-a-superstar appearances total, per full story. So for example, if you feature a match between two created wresters... if you do a backstage segment, that's 2 appearances, then the match is two more, and a post-match interview segment would be 2 more. There's 6 of your allotted create-a-superstar appearances gone right there. Not sure what the point of that is, but it blows.

Just hoping lots of good classic parts like those in Legends of Wrestlemania are available to make 80's era Caws. Would be nice to make some 70's era caws as well. I am still dreaming of the day we get a legends style game that is not limited like LOWM was. I am still playing firepro for this reason. I am waiting for something to unseat firepro as my game of choice. I hope I am not playing firepro a week after playing SVR2010.

This 10 CAW limit is unconfirmed rumor. This may be 10 CAWS in one show, or it may be that in the screenshot it was showing how many CAWS were available, and there were only 10 CAWS made on that system. So this is unconfirmed and everyone needs to wait until the game comes out Tuesday.

It actually got confirmed in the IGN review of the game. It got a solid 8.5 out of 10. It was confirmed that only 10 CAWs can be used entirely from and that can be matches or backstage, more CAWs being used limits it.

While this set back is a shame I'm still looking forward to it, with the CAW RTW and the other modes available, the experience points situation has been overhauled so you don't need to drag your CAW through the season mode to get the points to level up, but you can choose where it goes rather than be assigned by the computer. The Royal Rumble changes got highly praised and the tweaks to some matches have been noted but not all are affected. It was called "Not the best Smackdown game but a great and fresher outing" if memory serves correct. As said it received an 8.5 from IGN.

I got the game last night at midnight. I downloaded Steve Austin this morning it confirmed my download. Yet I have no Steve Austin. I checked the roster everything. If anyone besides me has the game already and has this problem lemme know if you figurerd it out. Could be a problem and if so Gamestop will receive an email from microsoft and give out new codes.

Ok just picked up my game during lunch for work. I know there are people who've played it already. I'd like to heat some early reviews from you guys on the gameplay and all that good stuff. Won't play for another couple hours but I gotta hear some fan reviews.

I'm playing it right now, and I really like the new gameplay. I'm on Orton's Road to WrestleMania. It looks and feels more realistic with both the presentation and the new strong grapples. I haven't done anything else yet, but I will be at some point. I'll probably be back with more after I play some more.

Hey guys, looking for a little help here. Bought SVR 2010 today for the Playstation Portable, and there's some sort of glitch I think. The game keeps... er... stalling i guess would be the word. Basically I'll be moving along and then it will get to a menu or loading screen and just stop. The music will still be playing and the background screens still change, but the rest of the menu just doesn't appear. I can't back to the previous screen, and the only option I appear to have is to quit and restart the game. Is anyone else having a problem like that? Or could it may just be a bad game disc and I should return it for a new one?

I am real impressed with the game, I say best Wresteling game yet. Double Team Moves in a tag match are easier, finishers are easier and I like they got rid of the player information on the top left and right of the screen.

I'm unsure what and who is all unlockable, I finished 1 road to WM and unlocked some things. Without buying SVR 2010 at Gamestop is there any other way to unlock Stone Cold?

This game is really outstanding, the game play is sweet, the creat modes i cant get tired off the road to wrestlemania's are okay, I just didn't like how in Mickie's and Edge's, main characters weren't even with the company now. The training at the start is awesome, I also love downloading superstar's, saves me from making them :D.

One thing that did piss me off though was, I got the game from Game and the man said the downloadable Steve Austin was in the case, when I got home there was nothing of that sort in there, which just pissed me off. Oh well, i've unlocked the rock now.

It's a highly enjoyable game, but in small doses. Played in short bursts it's extremely fun and doesn't get tiring. However, played for a while, it gets exhausting.

Definitely worth the purchase, though.

WHY IN THE FUCK DOES TRISH FUCKING STRATUS HAVE A BITTER FUCKING OVR THAN FUCKING SHAD?

That's it, I'm not playing it anymore.

lol. The road to Wrestlemania storys are fucking sweet, But they are ever so short. That's my only real quarm with the game.
