Summer Olympics 2012 LD

You're a little late to be complaining about this. It has been an Olympic sport for over a century.
How the hell did people not complain about it for over a century, I mean it's fucking RACEWALKING.

Oh, and they add/subtract sports all the time, so taking out racewalking isn't that hard.

My flatmate once said racewalking would be easy, so timed himself walking around our neighbourhood. He wasn't even half as fast as them. It's still shit though.

I feel like racewalking is viable, it's just not immediately exciting. But consider that they're doing 7-8 minute miles for 20k.

Still. I wish we could get baseball back. I'm sure I'm not the first to propose this, but why not have it in the Winter Olympics? I mean, really, we're calling basketball a summer sport, and everyone and their mother knows it's so the people busy playing club sports in the winter can do it on an Olympic level. No reason not to invert it for baseball. Think how amazing a proper Olympic baseball competition could be. I mean, the WBC is alright, but nothing will ever have the stakes of the Olympics.

The issue with that is, only a handfull of countries actually play baseball. It's not really a global sport.

Because you can't expect a Winter Olympics venue, which is usually half way up a mountain, to be able to build or sustain a baseball arena.

Baseball got taken out because not enough countries play it. In 5 Olympic games, there were only 6 medallists, and 16 competitors. Of those 16, 3 were host nations who finished dead last.

This is the best I've seen Andy.

I've only been watching intermittently, but it seems as if Murray has played well and Federer hasn't played well. I've seen him hit several shots into the net, even ones he shouldn't be, and just now saw him miss badly down the line. He is not looking like Roger Federer right now.

When was the last time Feds lost a set without winning a game?

Spoke to soon!

Went to the marathon this morning. There was a good smattering of amusing countries, eliciting a "Come on Burundi!" style response from the British crowd.

Federer looks like he's just remembered how to play.

I think suggestions of Federer's demise are greatly premature. The greatest of all time, he's more than capable of coming back in this match.

I'm really torn in this match to be honest. Love Federer, but it would be great to see Murray win a gold medal at home.

Right now? Yes. In the grand scheme of things not really.

A career defining moment though. Seeing him manhandle Federer in this fashion is pretty rare. Should be interesting to see how he handles the pressure, so far he seems totally unfazed.
