Getting Noticed By Management
It's a sad, sad day today. The world has lost another great fighter, this time in the form of Kimbo Slice. The news has been going on for a while but it was now confirmed by ESPN's Billy Corben.

RIP @KimboSlice: a 305 original, a true fighter, a one-of-a-kind Miami legend pic.twitter.com/NTvwDf1uTE

The news was also confirmed by his training partner Tyler Cook.

RIP

I swear one day we are going to learn that you have been going around murdering minor celebrities just so that you can start a thread about their deaths.

No offense Kimbo.

"Great" is when you can say that you fought in the UFC on pay per view and carry yourself like you can move a mountain with your bare hands, which is what Kimbo did. I've watched him beat guys down bare knuckled more times than I can count. I've also watched video of him showing his personality and he always struck me as a guy who would be fun to share a conversation with. Anyway you slice it(no pun intended), he went way too soon. 42. Jesus Christ that is way too young. Damn shame.

Kimbo is definitely not a great fighter. He made a career out of fighting bums on youtube. He's died so young because he was probably taking steroids. Seeing him being talked in the same breath as Ali is a joke.

However, he has just passed and I'm sure his friends and family are hurting but please dont carry on as if he is somehow one of the all time greats now that he's dead

Sad news.

Kimbo was not a great fighter. He was hardly a fighter at all. He had no ground game and lacked any real striking ability when you put him against professionals. Beating guys in the backyard does not prove anything.

Again, sad news but Kimbo's impact on MMA is minimal.

Thank God it's after midnight and no one saw what I originally had. I would have looked like an complete moron.

Do we have to go around shitting on someone the moment they die? Kimbo Slice wasn't in the same book as Muhammed Ali, but you'd think by reading this thread he was Joseph Stalin (I'm looking at you Milenko in particular). I'm reminded of a thread Haiku made in the Bar a year or so ago.

I'm not a massive fan of MMA but Kimbo was a name I was very familiar with. 42 is ridiculously young to pass away, and I extend my condolences to his friends, family and fans.

Wow tough crowd.

I never watched the man fight, but like someone else said 42 is too young an age to die. Messages of light to his family and friends.

RIP

Some of y'all are real asshats, seriously.

Who gives a shit if the guy didn't do anything for MMA or took steroids? It's ignorant shit like this that drives me off these forums, especially when supposedly "intelligent posters" are the ones saying it. He had a huge fan following because OUTSIDE of the ring (what actually counts) he was one of the most humble and kind men you could meet. The guy went from fighting bums on the damn street to making a huge name for himself in boxing and MMA. You may not think Kimbo Slice was great, but you know who he is. I've followed the guy since I heard his name, watched interviews, watched his streetfights, and than made an effort to watch his first MMA fight when I heard about it, in other words I was a fan, just like others are fans.

There's no point of commenting if you're just going to shit on a dead person. Show some respect ffs.

The fuck am I being singled out for?

I say he was horrible on The Ultimate Fighter amidst people saying he's dead because he abused steroids and others just being a lot meaner than I was yet I'm a horrible person?

Difference between the people who said that he abused steroids and your post is that they actually did make an attempt to express their condolences and it was a justification for his early death. All you contributed to the conversation was a negative opinion on someone who just died.

If people are going to try and say he's a legend then unfortunately we do

He was quite well-known outside of MMA, his name did have a fair degree of value. Again, other than maybe Pele (and even that's very debatable), I don't think there's been a sports talent quite on the same level as Ali, but there are different degrees of what constitutes legendary.

It's like if Hulk Hogan and The Sandman died in the same week, Hogan obviously did more for the wrestling business, but The Sandman is still noteworthy and doesn't deserve to be shit on, especially after he died.

I don't even know if BringThePain was even referring to Ali; it could honestly be a reference to Carvalho.

Ahhhh makes sense even if I think it's fucking ******ed.

While I'm sorry the man is dead at 42 I'm not going to spout off condolences I don't mean. The only time I offer my condolences when a celebrity dies is when I'm a fan which wasn't the case here.

Instead I decided to chime in on the topic others had already brought up. Does that make me a horrible person? Maybe but I can live with that.

So that begs the question: Why post at all?

Doesn't make you a horrible person by default, but it's certainly a stupid thing to post.

Regardless:

I will shit on BringThePain during my daughter's wedding if I feel it needs saying. This thread and it's condolences are what they are. Lets not get carried away.

No offense Kimbo. I will be collaborating with Elton John on another Candle in the Wind remake shortly.

Goodbye Kimbo Slice
Though I never knew blah, blah....

It seems to me you lived your life like a fighter on YouTube
Never knowing how many subscribers to your page came in
I would have liked to watch you but Comcast charges too much
I guess I could go watch you now
Or perhaps I'll go watch porn

Try getting that masterpiece out of your head.

I don't know if offering condolences to a man I barely knew is sincere or not but, clearly he had an impact on you. And others like you.

Never good to hear of someone's passing. In peace.

BTW Milenko's been gold.

It sucks for his family and friends and fans. It really does.

But every time a celebrity dies people come out of the woodwork like "Oh this person was great at what they did" and bullshit.

I feel for the people who cared for him. I'm empathetic toward those people. If by some random chance a friend or family member of Kimbo is on this site I'm sorry for your loss. If there is a real fan of Kimbo on this site I'm sorry that someone you looked up to is now gone.

Anyone who feels the need to give fake condolences just because someone is a celebrity honestly can just get fucked.

Who's talking about him in the same breath as Ali?!? All-time great? No. Legend? Maybe in Miami. Sensation? Definitely

The FACT is We ALL know who KImbo Slice was. He did it HIS way. No fancy jui-jitsu, no gi's, hell not even a well-polished stand-up game. The guy was just a straight up beast. A brawler. That's what made him stick out and that's why he loved to see him fight.
